  1. Well, it is tough to replace a starting QB, your star running back, your top two receivers (one to retirement, the other to injury) and your leading pass rusher all in one season...and I know it is not popular to right now, but the owner was in one of his "Ralph is cheap" modes, part of what drove the border-line HOF coach Chuck Knox away...the Knox era teams were built with aging veterans sprinkled throughout their roster..thet were built to win it all in 1980, 1981 and 1982, not when Stephenson took over.
  2. OUCH! Creamed by the rapist, formerly known as Darren Sharper...
  3. People mentioning Kay Stephenson and Mike Mularkey in the same breath as Hank Bullough or Harvy Johnson are "confusing results with effort". The Bills roster, especially when Stephenson was there, was bottom of the barrel. No coach could have won with that group... and absolutely nobody wanted to play for the Bills in those days. He didn't have the luxury of rebuilding with free-agency, and, to be frank, he had an owner who was not interested, at that time, in paying any vetrans to stay...
  4. Just for pure football reasons, for me, it has to be Dick Jauron. Good guy for sure, but I think the Jauron era was the most miserable era of Bills football for me. My cognizant life as a Bills fan starts in 1972... I realize, there were much worse Bills teams in my lifetime as a fan, but none was as consistently dull and joyless as Jaurons teams. He epitomized the concept of playing the game not to lose, rather than playing to win. Just terrible to watch more often than not. And what is particularly galling is that I think the Jauron era teams had more talent than the train wreck teams of Stephenson and Bullough. Put me down for DJ!
  5. I still have this dream that Chris Gragg turns into something....
  6. I am cautiously optimistic, as most Bills fans are...but we should worry about the Bills achieving something, before we worry about handing out credit!
  7. Brady is rumored to have political aspirations after he hangs up the cleats...rumor has it, he leans right...
  8. Since it is the off-season, and we all get bored: If you haven't read Fred Smerlas' book "By A Nose" it is about as insightful read you will find on the 80's Bills. I am not a huge Fred Smerlas fan (the guy..he was a great player) but this is a juicy read...there are not a lot of great Bills books out there that give you gossipy kind of stuff...he mentions the Harmon incident that you refer too...and a bunch of other stuff. Lots of great stories about the Knox era, as well as the early days of Jim Kelly, Marv Levy (who he had an ax to grind with)...good read!
  9. Not that I necessarily agree, but Lonnie Johnson seems to hold a special (dark) place in the hearts of many Bills fans... EJ Manuel too!
  10. Wouldn't be surprised if the NFL is trying to create the perception that the Ralph is inadequate to host a primetime game...Goodell kind of implied that when he said the Bills "must have" a state of the art stadium in order to "remain viable" in WNY....
  11. Love Rondo...but I hate the Mavs...sorry CGF! That is a fun team to watch...if you don't hate basketball and the NBA, and aren't already following them, do it! Great team! That is not advice..it is a suggestion!
  12. Is it me, or doesn't seem like most of the schedule has normally been leaked by this time, most years? Haven't seen anything legit...wonder if they delay the release!
  13. Agreed. Though I wouldn't mind seeing the Bills be one of their opponents every once in a while. Personally, as much as I love the game, I am not a huge fan of all the extra games, but that isn't going to change. I hate the whole Thursday night football thing....
  14. The Steelers will not re-negotiate with Brown, with so much time left on his contract....it is not their style, at all.
  15. Carolina at 1pm, take a shower, fly to New Orleans take on the Saints at 8:30pm! No problem!
  16. Yeah, like I said, I don't think she should be fired...
  17. Actually, there is a version of the video where you can hear the employee...she was very polite. I don't necessarily think this person should be fired from their job, though I do think she is a repulsive !@#$. Not sure what is more annoying at this point in time...those who get offended by everything, or those who defend everything that people get offended by, just because, you know...that is what they do... defending boorish behavior, just for the hell of it.
  18. Celtics!!! Now, assuming that doesn't happen, I would be cool with the Spurs or the Cavs.
  19. For me, it was opening day, 1980...Bills break the Dolphins streak, and the whole stadium went ape-**** crazy! It was my first game as a season ticket holder...I had loved the Bills before that, but it cemented things for me the rest of the way!
  20. My biggest complaint about Moulds, was that somewhere along the way, he started focusing (too much) on drawing penalties, and yapping at officials, rather than making the effort to catch balls.
  21. No, it is surprisingly effortless and simple, for some here...
  22. It was a really good interview. I sense a little bit more of an "edge" to EJ. I like the fact that he said "I don't want to just sit here and talk about it, I want to do it..." Also, I like the fact that he was specific about the change in his throwing motion. He mentioned that he had always been coached to have a high, "over the top" delivery, and DeBerg helped him to correct it. He sounds confident that he hascorrected it. Maybe not a big deal, but it is something I have noticed over the course of his two years in the league, a tendency to throw the ball high, where nobody can catch it.
  23. It seems like every year, we get a date, like this (saw April 23rd on PFT), and then it gets delayed a day or two...
