  1. I wonder if the Bills only gave him a one year contract ....if so, perhaps he will be gone if he can play. You never know how these situations will play out. I think a lot of tough decisions on what receivers to keep. If DeRick Rogers makes the roster, other well thought of talents will be gone. I am guessing he makes it if he stays straight....but, the Bills need players to stay longer term. The Free agent contract is probabily cheap.....but not long.
  2. I think that the offensive game plans will vary with who the starting QB is based on physical capability. And, I would not b e surprised to see a little switching between QB's.....relief pitching as it were. I think that would be a good way to bring EJ along. And, offer a great change of pace in the O during a game....lets see, first series after halftime seems about right.
  3. The coaches will make the call....but, not only is McKelvin the best on the team....he is the best in the league. How can we not use him, then?
  4. Peters can play....if he wants to, he showed that in Buffalo. But, after all that money, maybe not, easier to sit back and enjoy life.
  5. I agree , he was a marginal talent. Small school, took to long to learn the trade although he was dilligent. And, he was the one that ended N. Rosevelt's time with the Bills. I agree likely out of the league. But, in defense of Chan, he was dealt the cards he had....and for whatever reason, he and Buddie did not bring in much new talent at WR.
  6. Yes, I don't think the Bills alone could justify a new venue in WNY, the money problems would be to big, even if they sold out 10 games. To succeed, would need another major tenant that could help with the payback of capital invested. I do not see one on the horizon. So, WNY needs to keep the Ralph up to date to continue to retain the Bills. (setting aside all the estate issues for the minute)
  7. The loss of C. Reinhart (?) was puzzling, he was a starting guard for two years. (13 starts I think) with Levertre's departure, should have kept him. I think there is something we don't know about that situation......the deep thinkers (yeh, if we have any?) maybe tought he was not complete enough...he was a bull on the run , but struggled with the agility moves a little. anyhow, deeper into the bench we go, and who knows how it will turn out. Not sure our running game will produce what we had last year in the Spiller breakaway threat.
  8. Character is important in evaluating a player. But, some of the stuff above is way off base. McKelvin....never in trouble. Handles himself well, although not articulate. Bills would not have resigned him if he had those issues. Others, I really don't know..like everybody else here. But, I know college kids make mistakes, and many of them will straighten their act out to earn the big bucks. Yes, Lynch does fit the category. He can play which he is really showing in Seattle....he was OK here, but never the player he is out there. But all that legal trouble....he was a problem in the community. Hit and run, weapons, etc. Lynch does fit the definition. Interesting term though....our best candidate was Anthony Hargrove, who has had trouble in the league where ever he goes, but he always gets another job, cause he can play that D line! Oh yeh, Travis Henry also comes to mind,
  9. Byrd wants to get paid....big time money. He will do that in Buffalo, or any other NFL city, doesn't matter. He has connections here, but could make the same elsewhere. This is all about the MONEY. He won't take a contract he doesn't like to stay in Buffalo. I agree he is not a #1 athletically, but, he has great reads and anticipation and is at least a journeyman on his weaker skills. He is a valuable commodity. He will likely play in Buffalo this year under a one year deal, but will try to extract a promise that they won't tag him again next year. If Buffalo does not give this assurance, he might be a November show up guy like Vincent Jackson was in SD a couple of years ago. Personally, I think they need to keep the money to get Spiller to reup when his contract is done, and that will be a whole lot of money folks.
  10. Parker is hoping to hold out a signing for this year for the start of training camp against a promise not to tag BYRD next year. Clements got that deal when he got out of town, I think. If I were the Bills, I would not fall for that ploy......and Byrd shows up in early November. Then, I would tag him again.....if they haven't tagged Spiller or Wood by then.....Anyhow, no more Mister nice guy....play the teams position to the max because Parker will be playing Byrd's to the max.
  11. Bills had the best in the NFL last season in McKelvin. HIs job to loose.
  12. Its about revenue, not seats. Buffalo tickets are cheaper than most in the NFL, partly because of the larger stadium allows lower ticket prices. So, more tickets have to be sold to increase revenue to near the mean.
  13. The NFL ticket exchange works pretty well. I have sold and purchased on that site...and you get tickets e-mailed directly to you, no waiting for snail mail to arrive. this is Bills and NFL sanctioned. Service charges a little pricey, but worth it in my view for the absolute convience.
  14. Your lawn mowing business scenrio is missing the real world element of "off the books" workers. Guys and gals paid in cash everyday without any record of employment. LOTS of that going on, especially in the illegal immigrant community, but really in the whole economy, not that segment of employees alone. Especially the small business for short terms/seasonal businesses, like lawn mowing. For the little business owner, he is already stretched so far he is close to going under...have one of my wife's relatives in that situation. That guy is also buried under other regulations that most of his competitors ignore....he knows the law, but can't afford to follow it....he would be out of business in two months...with no business.
  15. He may do well, but this is his first season as DC without Rex Ryan looking over his shoulder. Even with a superbowl season like performance, I doubt he is yet a head coaching candidate. He cannot leave for a lateral, unless his contract is up. I am guessing he got more than one year when doing his initial contract.
  16. At the risk of being flippant, should this suit come forward, the Town of Orchard Park and Erie County might well adopt a policy that those though to be inebriated should spend the night in the local lockup. Then nobody drowns. Get two paddy wagons, and shuttle them to a nearby jail, where they can sleep it off. Of course, they may need to turn a local college dormatory into that jail based on the crowd I have seen. But, certain folks are falling down drunk, and, I guess, could be protected from themselves. (really BIg Brother nanny state stuff) there must be a local statute against public drunkness......if not, they just might enact one.
  17. Well, multiple venues are not uncommon in football. The Packers used to do that, don't know anymore. IN college football, Alabama goes to Biringham sometimes, and stays in Tuscalossa sometimes, I think. Does anybody else in the NFL today use multiple stadiums? (Yeh, Vikes when their roof caves in )
  18. It helps if Gronk is out because of the back surgery, for sure. I cannot fathom why back surgery would be held off to mid June. Why not January? Hoping it would self heal? I don't know, just wondering if it was planned this way, or just bad judgement by Gronk or team management. In any event, Bills luck out having Pat up first in light of Gronks likely absense from that game.
  19. Kolb is the starter unless EJ takes it away in training camp. Not sure he can do that yet.....a year from now, I think for sure, but today, still on the steep part of the learning curve. If the Bills can't win with Kolb, or Kolb gets hurt, then EJ can start with a little less pressure....and get ready to take over in year two. Aaron Rodgers sat behind Farve 3 years, and it didn't hurt him. Yeh, I know, Kolb is not Farve. I think there is a possibility the Kolb will surprise. He was killer at the beginning of last season for Ariz. If he can stay healthy, he could very well surprise.
  20. Recall Marrone was on the Jets staff a few years back and knew Pettine then.....so, the mysterious connection isn't so mysterious. And, Pettine, showed good judgement getting out of the Jets circus and getting the chance to be his own man. Now, as for former Jets not being signed (cept Downton), that knife cuts two ways, maybe Pettine did not want those guys...he would know. OK, his performance going forward is all the matters.....Gailey choose poorly for DC all his years. Marrone did better already. IMHO
  21. A decade from now, likely will not need a two bills drive website. Unfortunately. Buffalo market to small to play in the big money NFL long term. I don't like it, but I am prepared for it. Just check the demographics in this country, lots of bigger venues to move to....with better weather as well, meaning potential sell outs in November and December, something not seen here since the playoff days of Jim Kelly.
  22. I am upset with the seat cushion ban. I have a serious back problem that needs a support. I can get all the doctors notes etc, but the policy doesn't seem to accomodate that. I think they are crossing the ADA (American Disabilities Act) line on that one, and somebody will straighten them up on that one. I will try nice first, though.
  23. I read the policy....actually, its not much different than the policy that was already in place . I actually have had that plastic bag they describe for more than 10 years. That is transparent, 1'x1'. I carry poncho's, small radio, binocs, sandwiches, chips whatever....just not liquids. Of course, my grey hair helps me through security. Younger folks get treated worse, I have seen it. (Although, last year I had to hold my i phone out in the rain so they could wand me. They said it was for the good of my i phone, the wand can damage them allegedly. Like putting it out in the rain could not!) I agree, the security provisions take away from the game experience substantially, and the lines are horrendous. I am likely a short timer as a season ticket holder, can't take this much longer.
