Peter King says teams are trying to trade up for Pettigrew
Billsguy replied to Maddog69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills don't value TE's. All they see is another blocker at the end of the line. Besides even if the best TE in the league played for the Bills he wouldn't get the ball with Trent Edwards flat on his back due to the Swiss cheese offensive line. Build the team from both lines first before tinkering with the peripheral positions like TE. OL and LB and DL with the top 3 picks. -
Let me guess - are you one of the thousands who post on this board and predict a 10-6 finish every year? Every year the blind are reading to the blind. The Bills are in deep trouble. The Broncos have the guts to fire their long time Super Bowl winning coach and trade their starting QB. The Bills cling to a perpetual losing coach in Dick Jauron. I'm not a Broncos fan at all, but I admire their guts and I'll bet they succeed before Buffalo does. If you finish 7-9 every year doesn't it make sense to try a different strategy instead of sticking with the same loser coach? I could list many, many other mistakes in progress at One Bills Drive, but it would take too long. It is not about being optimistic or pessimistic, but rather realistic. The competition is leaving the Bills in the dust. The Bills have a mangled weak looking OL, an aging DL that can't get to the QB, a directionless business manager posing as a GM and a perennial loser head coach. Does that gives you cause for "blind optimism"? Look at the facts and you may see what everyone else around the country sees - the Bills are destined for a 4th place finish in the division again. P.S. I've been a fan since 1960 and I hope the best for the Bills. Just because I'm not a cheerleader who sticks my head in the sand and ignores the facts doesn't mean I'm not a fan.

Give me your two somewhat surprise predictions
Billsguy replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Prediction #1 The Bills pick at number 11 will be considered a "reach" and will be widely criticized by the national media pundits. Prediction #2 The first prediction will be true nontheless. Bonus prediction: Somehow the Bills will screw it up again. My hope is the Bills select some beef on the OL with #11 and select the best damn LB available at #28. The TE and DE will be selected after round1. -
I agree completely. A 5th rounder for Parrish would be a steal for some team. The Bills would be fleeced again! How Not To Build A Team by Russ Brandon coming soon to a bookstore near you!

No chance in hell that Curry falls to #11.

I think you are right. Peters' play was less than expected last year because he was playing next to a $7 million dollar a year stiff (Dockery) First of all, Dockery's weakness affected Peters' play and secondly it really must have pissed Peters off that the Bills were willing to pay this stiff more than twice what Peters was making and yet they wouldn't re-structure his deal. I think everyone in the same position would feel the same. I don't blame Peters at all for wanting to be paid fairly. The Bills just don't have the winning mentality. They want to be competitive at a certain price. Winning teams want to win it all. The Bills want to minimize their costs, maximize their profits and hopefully be competitive. The trade is totally lopsided in Philly's favor. The Eagles through shrewd cap management over the years (this is well documented) have managed to strengthen their team and still keep their best draft pick. Kudos to the Eagles for fleecing the weak minded and poorly run Bills organization. It all goes back to Ralph Wilson.

The Bills are interested. They have interviewed him very recently in Buffalo. I like the pick in the 2nd or 3rd if it happens.
-
Bubkus. The organization that gave him a huge contract extension for no apparent reason will get nothing. The other teams in the league actually look at video and can recognize a bust when they see one.

Steeler Source says trade for Bills wide receiver Parrish
Billsguy replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly right! The Bills will get fleeced again. I bet they will be thrilled to get a 5th rounder for him. Dumb asses. As an elite punt returner the Bills should keep him or at least get back the 2nd rounder that he cost them. I predict another dumb trade. -
Eagles coach Andy Reid said in a statement. "I have always believed that success in the NFL is derived from the strong play of the offensive and defensive lines." I wish the Bills would put more emphasis on building the lines with more than just journeymen players. Hopefully, after years of drafting futility, the front office has gotten the message.

The offensive line last year was truly offensive. It needed to be blown up and it has been. Fowler-gone. Preston-gone. Dockery-gone. and now Peters-gone. Good riddance to all of them. If you can't do better than 7-9 with them then change course. Now comes the challenging part - re-building a line from scratch basically. Butler at guard and Walker at tackle return and then its a bunch of question marks. I personally feel they are doing the right thing, but the short term consequences could be negative. I still am not a fan of Walker, but for now they're stuck with him. The Bills need to draft at least two top OL prospects in the upcoming draft. Now if only they could trade Kelsay.

Sources: Peters to Eagles for three picks
Billsguy replied to TimGraham's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree completely! The Eagles should be thrilled. They have plenty of draft picks and plenty of cap room and they only give up the 28th pick. The unknown pick better be damn good. -
They should re-build the lines FIRST! I would be delighted if they found 3 quality lineman with the top 3 picks. I would excuse one of the picks being an OLB or TE provided it was the last of the 3.

I just love this item from CBS Sportsline. "Modrak did let on that he could justify taking a tight end with the No. 11 overall pick -- presumably Pettigrew. The 6-5, 257-pounder has an arrest record for striking a police officer and public intoxication but Modrak said Pettigrew has passed the team's character test." I guess if you have a police record - YOU PASS!

Is anybody else tired of hearing about these two topics? 1. Terrell Owens 2. Toronto I believe when the season starts there will be plenty to comment on about TO, but for now enough already! Secondly, Toronto is an interesting city, but the topic about the Bills in Toronto is tedious. JMHO

Rotoworld reports that JP Losman has received no known
Billsguy replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you remember it was worse than that: the Bills gave up a 2nd and 5th rounder as well as a 1st round pick to Dallas so that they could draft JP Losman. Wow, its no wonder the Bills haven't seen the playoffs in 9 years. Tom Donahoe traded a 1st for Bledsoe, drafted McGahee who couldn't run for a year following the draft, and gave up 3 picks for Losman. Tom Donahoe has been hiding in shame for helping to destroy the Bills. -
Well said! There are offensive lineman who are needed badly who would be available at 11. Think OT's. Peters is a goner and the top pick must be one of the premium tackles. Period.
-
Who does he think he is: Ko Simpson?
-
Brown has only one pass rushing move and is not an every down player. He is way overrated.
-
Excellent post! He might make the team on the Patriots, Dolphins and Jets, but he certainly wouldn't start and he certainly wouldn't be getting paid like he is. The Bills won't draft a DE however because they are loathe to admit he shouldn't have been extended.

T. Graham's new Peters article
Billsguy replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"One AFC general manager agreed Peters is a premium tackle and -- in theory -- well worth the Bills' asking price of multiple draft picks, including first- and third-rounders. But the GM questioned whether it would be a prudent investment to give Peters the money he seeks because of perceived dedication issues." "Once you give him the money, I'm not so sure he plays up to it," the GM said. Exactly right. Peters is a dope. He is doing everything wrong. The Pro Bowl award he got last year was the worst thing that could happen. Now he is even less motivated and apparently dumber. -
Speaking of Kelsay, the Bills should draft an OT in round 1. The reason they won't draft a DE is because for some strange reason they like Kelsay. He has been a flop in my eyes, but they gave him an extension and a raise for a reason. I would trade Peters for a 1st rounder higher than top 15 along with a two more picks (i.e. another 2nd and 3rd minimum). This would give the Bills 2 #1's, 2 #2's and 2 #3's. I would draft or trade up to draft one of the top three OT's with one pick, use the other 1st on a DL (prefer DE) and with the 2nd rounder I would pick up the best available TE. The other 2nd rounder I would use on an OLB. In round 3, I would look for another OL with one of the two picks. The Bills need to rebuild from the lines first. It's too bad Peters is a malcontent. He has to go!
-
I think the Bills need a TE definitely. However, I don't see the Bills drafting Pettigrew in round 1. The Bills need to use the top pick on a lineman. The OL needs help and so does the DE position. My priorities would be: 1. DE 2. OG/OT/C 3. TE 4. OLB Build from the foundation first- the lines.
