T. Graham's new Peters article
Billsguy replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"One AFC general manager agreed Peters is a premium tackle and -- in theory -- well worth the Bills' asking price of multiple draft picks, including first- and third-rounders. But the GM questioned whether it would be a prudent investment to give Peters the money he seeks because of perceived dedication issues." "Once you give him the money, I'm not so sure he plays up to it," the GM said. Exactly right. Peters is a dope. He is doing everything wrong. The Pro Bowl award he got last year was the worst thing that could happen. Now he is even less motivated and apparently dumber. -
Speaking of Kelsay, the Bills should draft an OT in round 1. The reason they won't draft a DE is because for some strange reason they like Kelsay. He has been a flop in my eyes, but they gave him an extension and a raise for a reason. I would trade Peters for a 1st rounder higher than top 15 along with a two more picks (i.e. another 2nd and 3rd minimum). This would give the Bills 2 #1's, 2 #2's and 2 #3's. I would draft or trade up to draft one of the top three OT's with one pick, use the other 1st on a DL (prefer DE) and with the 2nd rounder I would pick up the best available TE. The other 2nd rounder I would use on an OLB. In round 3, I would look for another OL with one of the two picks. The Bills need to rebuild from the lines first. It's too bad Peters is a malcontent. He has to go!
-
I think the Bills need a TE definitely. However, I don't see the Bills drafting Pettigrew in round 1. The Bills need to use the top pick on a lineman. The OL needs help and so does the DE position. My priorities would be: 1. DE 2. OG/OT/C 3. TE 4. OLB Build from the foundation first- the lines.

Does anybody else feel this move smells like DESPERATION? It feels like the guy who has lost almost all his money gambling and then spends his last dollar on a lottery ticket. Is this how you build a championship contender? Well it sure has created some buzz around an organization that has been asleep for a decade.
-
Guaranteed money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He may be an ass, but he's no dummy.
-
It is refreshing to see someone else who sees this as a backwards move. Jabari is much better than Florence. Hence, the Bills just got worse. I've seen this for so many years I've become numb to the rationalizations of the front office and the "fans".
-
Everybody is so excited about Florence. Why? He was a complete bust in JAX and they couldn't get rid of him fast enough. This is definitely a downgrade from Greer. I guess the Bills are saving a few bucks.

2009 Salary Cap Page available
Billsguy replied to clumping platelets's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with the three you singled out. I would also add that the DE's as a group have to be the most overpaid least productive group of DE's in the league- particularly Kelsay. Ouch. Please cut Kelsay now. I have always felt Lee Evans was overrated and by extension overpaid. He is a good receiver not an elite one. How would you feel if you were Peters and the turnstile next to you (the departed joke called Dockery) was making over 3 million dollars per year more than you? Pissed I think. Pay Peters, cut Kelsay for starters. Draft some friggin' linemen in the early rounds that are not undersized underachievers. -
The Bills have gone nine years without making the playoffs and the owner thinks the most important thing is to maintain freakin' continuity by keeping Jauron and the entire coaching staff. Freakin' continuity?!! What an idiot! The worst part is that many people think this idiot should have a statue dedicated in his honor somewhere in Buffalo. Maybe the second worst thing is that some people think he should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. What a joke. The Bills will never will anything as long as Wilson owns the team. Period.
-
Jauron is a 7-9 coach. He has been a mediocre coach his entire career. He is almost universally considered a nice guy, but he is not a championship caliber coach. What else can you say about the guy? If the Bills want to remain average to below average, then they shoud keep Jauron. I say its time to move on.

Bad play call, but Jauron is a stand up guy
Billsguy replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love this post. Short, concise and absolutely correct. Jauron is a good guy and he should be fired for utter incompetence. Nothing personal, just business. Inexcusable. -
JP is never going to be a winner. For all you JP lovers who thinks he has so much class, get real. He is a little punk who sulks and won't talk to the media because his feelings got hurt by being benched - BOO HOO WHAAAAAA! Poor JP.
-
“During this whole situation, I’ve just kind of been trying to force myself to kind of get ready." - JP Losman What an immature punk. He makes it sound like playing in the NFL is for his benefit only. He's kinda trying to kinda get ready. Get his sorry ass off the team. This is a team game JP it's not all about you. I don't feel sorry for your horrible hardship. What have you done to justify the Bills wasting a first round pick to draft you? Nothing substantial to say the least! I remember watching an ESPN story about you around draft time and I was shocked how immature you appeared. The ESPN commentator Mark Schlereth looked horrified by the piece and said that this guy (Losman) was not NFL material and that drafting him was a huge gamble due to his immaturity. He was right. Losman is a loser.

One of the best posts of the year! -
Mayock just said the Bills are having a solid draft
Billsguy replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills were nearly last in both offense and defense last year. The winning teams dominate the line of scrimmage. How many sacks will Schobel and Kelsay get this year combined? Maybe 12? As a matter of comparison, JAX drafted the top two DE's in this year's draft and I believe this will make their CB's a whole lot better. The Bills need to draft CB's to cover for their weak pass rushing DE's. I guess it's just a different philosophy. I would build the best lines possible before I filled in the small guys. I am tired of watching the Bills lines get abused. Additionally, I wonder when the Bills will ever take the TE position seriously. Jeez, nothing but castoffs and fringe players. -
4th Round Selection: Reggie Corner CB, Akron

With the next pick the Bills select from Upper Lower Valley State a 5'8" 168 lb linebacker. Go small or stay home! -

Bills are trying to have the smallest draft class ever. Screw those damn big guys!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
McKelvin and Hardy's nicknames
Billsguy replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Bad Hands McKelvin!" "Oops I dropped another one" McKelvin. -
I wish the Bills would stop drafting small guys. I was a big fan of Branden Albert or Derrick Harvey. The Bills had a shot at Albert, but the smurfs won the war room battle again. The Bills were almost dead last in offense and defense. It all goes back to the lines of scrimmage. The Bills are too soft. That's not just my opinion - the numbers don't lie. I absolutely love Kansas City's picks- WOW!
-
As I have posted before, Albert would be my choice by a mile. The Pats (and all top teams) know that lineman will make or break your team. A top OL will make your receivers and running backs that much better. A top DL will make your cornerbacks, linebackers, and safeties that much better. Drafting top notch lineman is the best way to get better. I hope the Bills start drafting the difference makers on both lines first and then look to the little guys after the first round.

Whats the worst thing that the Bills could do
Billsguy replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they go for a blue chip lineman on offense (preferably) or DE, then I will be encouraged. If the Bills reach for a non-lineman at #11 I will be disappointed. The game is won in the trenches by talented players. -
My priorities in order of preference for the Bills in round 1: 1)Branden Albert of Virginia for the offensive line!!!!! 2)Derrick Harvey for the DL. (Kelsay and Denney aren't getting it done) 3)Malcolm Kelly or Devin Thomas WR 4)Rodgers-Cromartie at CB The team must strengthen the trenches. The conventional wisdom is wrong that the OL is in good shape. I still believe that the OL needs a major talent upgrade. We will find out soon.

What I would like to see the Bills do now on draft day
Billsguy replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't heard much about what I feel is a glaring need for the Bills - the offensive line! Only Jason Peters can be considered solid. Dockery is being judged by his big salary and not his production. Melvin Fowler is overmatched frequently by big DT's. The right side of the line is no better than fair to barely adequate. I think the best teams are built on the lines first. The OL could use a top prospect with the 1st pick. If the Bills are going to move the ball consistently then they need to upgrade the OL with more talent. Sure, the team also needs a big receiver and a cornerback, but I feel a big receiver will be there in round 2. Build the lines and the results will follow. IMHO.
