Nice to see Mularkey screwing up a division rival the way he screwed up the Bills. Now if Miami would only hire Donahoe!!!!
-
I disagree strongly. It is clearly a rebuilding year. 20 new players from last year all draft picks make the team What in heavens would you call a rebuilding year? 53 new players?
-
Apparently, it is new news to many. The personnel decisions clearly indicate rebuilding. I say let the young guys play and get experience. The old method of acquiring old overpaid veterans was clearly a failure under TD. Just thinking about Bledsoe, Milloy, and others makes me sick. What a waste. JP should have played all year last year to get the experience. Keeping all the draft picks this year was a clear sign that a new direction may be underway. Hopefully the draft picks can play.

Marv and Dick and many of the assistants have been saying it all year - the Bills are rebuilding this year. They still have to sell tickets though so they convince the fans with doubletalk how the Bills will be "competitive". "I never did want to look at it that way," Spikes said. "But you have to be a realist about every situation that happens. If you write it down on paper or even say it out loud, it spells rebuilding. As much as you don't want it to be that way, ultimately that's the way that it is." I am not saying rebuilding is bad. It is certainly necessary, but the fans have to lower expectations to face the reality. What pisses me off if the rebuilding starts every couple years after the most recent coaching and management failures. This time will be different? We'll see.

What the future holds for the Bills
Billsguy replied to Billsguy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tampa DT's were bigger and Pro Bowl caliber. Bills 4 DT's : 2 rookies, 1 mostly a backup, and one just uninspiring (Anderson) Get ready for a steady diet of smashmouth. I don't like the prospects, but maybe Jauron will turn out to be a genius. I hope so. -
“They just lined up their tanks and big personnel and tried to run the ball,” said Bills’ defensive end Chris Kelsay about New England. The undersized DL has a speed advantage, but they have a distinct lack of power. The Bills opponents will pound them with brute force. There is a very good reason why some parts of a DL have to be big (as the Bills are about to discover). Being unable to stop the run is a major weakness. The Bills have been unable to stop anybody in the 2nd half and especially the 4th quarter for the last couple of years. Even when the Bills defense was statistically highly ranked, they couldn't make the key defensive stand in the 4th quarter. Until the defense proves it can stop somebody during crunch time, it's going to be a long season. The second half dominance of the Patriots was troubling. It wasn't just that the Bills lost, but it provided a game plan for future opponents to use against the Bills.

Pessimistic 3-13 Optimistic 7-9 Realistic 5-11 Big questions at QB, OL, DL do not make for a contender. The Bills management and coaches have said this is a rebuilding year over and over for anyone who cared to listen. I believe them. 5-11.
-
Sorry to agree with you. I could add several more areas of deficiency, but what's the point. As you know, only blind optimism is accepted here. Naysayers, however accurate they may be, are not appreciated. The bar has been lowered for so many years some people have come to accept mediocrity as acceptable. I don't. I am hoping for the best, but I can't let my heart make decisions for my brain.

The cost to the Bills was a wasted 4th round pick. Something was ventured, but nothing was returned. It's not a wash if you get nothing for a 4th rounder.

Bon appetit! Would you like a little steak sauce with that crow? Maybe you can take Aaron Gibson out for an all-you-can eat buffet. I hear they are serving famous last words. BTW, what have you been doing for the last three years since you left fifth grade? HAHA Back to the boondocks never to be heard from again!

Mark Gaughn - Buffalo News "Given the fact the Bills were 5-11 last year and Cleveland was 6-10, it was hard to draw too many conclusions from the evening. " Well said Mark!

My brain hurts after trudging through all the bad grammar, bad punctuation, bad spelling and tortured logic in that post. After watching the Bills for 45 years, I know a patchwork OL when I see one. This line is looking very mediocre. I don't think any of them (with Peters as the only longshot possibility) has any aspirations of ever making the Pro Bowl. This is a realistic point of view. Don't question my loyalty as a Bills fan if I choose to look at the team for what it is at present. What is rational and reasonable about hoping for a good performance from the OL? Hope is based on faith and belief. There is nothing rational or logical about it. I hope the Bills do well, but based on the current situation I am not foolish enough to ignore the many deficiencies that exist. You can ignore them if you want.
-
The optimists like to think the OL whose best player was an undrafted free agent TE is going to be fine. The center is a castoff from the Vikes, two are castoffs from the Bears, and the other is a castoff from Carolina. Now the optimists will argue with the terminology "castoff", but the facts, as I see them, are that this line is no more than a patchwork of average lineman. Now if the optimists are satisfied with an average patchwork line, who am I to argue? I disagree, but the record will speak for itself. The optimists predicted the Bills would be 10-6 almost every year for the last few years. I predict a best case scenario for this year would be 7 wins and a worst case scenario of 3 wins. Looks like another 5 win season. I try to look at the facts as they are and not how I wish them to be. I wish the Bills were a contender, but the realist in me says, "no way."

Great trade!? The Bills acquired Watson from a 3-13 team last year that was desperately trying to dump him on anyone. Why would a 3-13 team be so anxious to unload this guy? Because he can't play? I wish somebody on the Bills would have wondered about this. Now this is no big deal by itself, but a lot of the little miscalculations like this have a cumulative negative effect over the long term. Quality GM's win most of these type trades.

Sir, you are off base on the facts. The game was sold out. The entire season is sold out. People were walking around looking at the new stadium and its amenities. I am a die hard Bills fan, but your criticism is way off base. BTW, the Cards offense is far superior to the Bills offense and way more fun to watch. The Cards have the premier stadium in the league with an exciting team to root for and you find some way to try to pick on them. What for? Considering the state of affairs in Buffalo, I would be a little more discreet. What makes you feel so superior? Wasn't the stadium in Orchard Park built 33 years ago?
-
So you are saying goodbye to Josh Reed? I would have to disagree.
-
As a Bills fan I hope he ends up IN the division. He could help our defense and our offense in one fell swoop!!!!! Yeah!!!
-
Maybe Dick Jauron and his staff heard the guy sucks. Or maybe they watched him stumble all over the field for two years?
-
Yes he is. And no he is not.
-
Because he is a poor defender and now the Bills staff agrees with me.
-
Absolutely - this move was way overdue! Apparently the new Bills staff watched the game films on this guy. He was absolutely horrendous last year and not much better before that. The Bills defense just improved.
-
Because I watched every snap he was on the field last year and analyzed the tape several times. He was terrible.

As always from those of us on the west coast

Very appreciated here in Nevada. I think I forgot what rain looks like or for that matter; clouds. Makes me almost miss living in WNY. -
The best news I've heard from the Bills in many months! Posey to the bench, Crowell starting! The only better news could be: Posey gets cut. Yippee!

What Will Be the Positions of Most Competition?
Billsguy posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
According to the article by Chris Brown: "But there will be some other heated battles for jobs at some very loaded positions." "Some of those positions are busting at the seams with talent and will lead to some very difficult roster decisions come September." I have to take issue with the "busting at the seams with talent " phrase. The Bills were 5-11 last year and had only a Pro Bowl punter. Let's get real. These position battles may be even and competitive among the players on the Bills roster, but "busting at the seams with talent " should be properly reserved for playoff type teams who have Pro Bowlers on the roster. Spare us the hyperbole Mr. Brown. Here's another hyperbole from Mr. Brown: (Peerless)"Price's return fills the veteran void left by Eric Moulds" - oh really? He may fill Moulds' roster spot and he may be a veteran, but he can't carry his shoes. Price was playing himself into retirement until Marv got nostalgic and signed him.
