  1. Here would be my case for Josh Allen. And let me say up front from a pure passer and reading defenses perspective -- I like Josh Rosen the best of the top four. I admittedly haven't watched a lot of film, but what I have watched his mechanics were bad and they are all over the place. Sometimes throwing from his toes, sometimes feet just plain pointed in the wrong direction, sometimes off his back foot. Sometimes this happens under pressure, but sometimes his mechanics slip while not under pressure. The thing is, the ball still comes out with fire and it's a quick release. Mechanics you can correct. Footwork you can correct. A strong arm you can't create. So the real questions with me are... 1) Can the mechanics be corrected? He had good mechanics from the 15 or so throws from his pro day (out of 60) that I saw on-line. There were only 3 inaccurate throws against air. You might say "anyone can do that" but of the 15 throws or so I saw the mechanics were consistent. Maybe muscle memory has set in. Contrast this to Cardale Jones pro day three years ago and mechanics were still bad. My worry here is the Bills really don't have a QB technician on staff. Maybe bringing in Ken Dorsey -- who is currently Assistant Athletic Director at FIU or contracting with Jordan Palmer will help. 2) Jordan Palmer, his mentor, uses a term called "throw guys open". In the pros there are tight windows but if receivers and QBs know each other well -- a throw can create separation. It could be a back shoulder or a sudden quick move right or left to gain a separation. Its a subtle change to a route that the QB has to see then gun. Allen more than anyone in this draft has the arm to throw guys open. Its less anticipation then it is "See and Gun". The issue I see here is the Bills o-line as currently situated will not allow a lot of this. So not my favorite..but as you said--better than what we have had.
  2. A thread on something other than the draft.... Tyrod gets us at home in Cleveland AJ gets to play the Bengals in the key 3rd preseason game ... and Dalton and Boyd get standing ovations from the Bills crowd. We should make it Andy Dalton and Tyler Boyd day at New Era. Cool....
  3. Is he riding back with the staff on the Pegula Jet when they go on the Darnold journey? Great chance to get to know him...
  4. The best friend Beane can be to a player and the player's agent is to provide an honest assessment of their value every year. Whether the player and agent choose to listen is up to them. Richie was clearly not considered a highly valued piece anymore...and the O-line was more bad than good last year. Taylor's escapability and running prowess hid a lot of flaws. He just is not the passing game asset that was needed. There will be a couple of picks and more work in post-draft free agency to improve this area. There is depth at the interior OL positions in the draft and that will cause vet cuts post draft...I love Richie but this $4 million plus in space will be put to good use.
  5. Talk about crapping out before the draft......with my track record on predictions I predict that the Bills won't draft Darnold, Rosen or Mayfield...
  6. I do....not chronically but it feels like my brain is racing in front of my mouth.... This also reminds me of a scene from Billy Madison...
  7. This is too bad but I kind of expected Richie would not be on the field for the Bills this coming season. This adds about $4 million in cap space -- giving the Bills some breathing room. I would up the offer to Dansby and get him in the fold, draft 2 interior Lineman and then also watch the vet waiver wire after the draft. Slim pickings right now for Interior OL.
  8. I know many folks on the board don't think much of Tim Graham and his writing and his attitude -- but he has an excellent series of articles on players impacted by CTE that's worth the read. Björn Nittmo, Darryl and others...he has been the go to writer in the country on chronicling this stuff.
  9. Kirby, Thanks for posting. Would have missed this otherwise. This is very sad if its a reflection of where Darryl and Janine's life is right now. Many of us donated when Darryl was at his apparent lowest point but the bad thing about CTE and other physical/mental ailments is that often there is no lowest point...it just continues to worsen. This isn't even a "thoughts and prayers" or "God bless them" thing (Although they have that from all of us)... I want to remember #56 as a relentless linebacker who played with passion -- sadly that style of play contributed to his current situation.
  10. I heard there aren't any good QBs in this draft....
  11. I, personally, don't care about this but I respect the OP rights to post this. Insert snowflake emoji...
  12. The problem was too many plans. One for the coaching staff one for management
  13. Frank Ragnow and Braden Smith He's getting married and wants to finish his career in AZ or nearby. Bills will try to accommodate. Pay-cut was to ease the cap hit for the trading team (just speculating).
  14. Bills make four trades during the 3 days of the draft and one of them includes All-Pro Guard Richie Incognito.
  15. My opinion is based on the fact that the Bills have latched on to a really good, hard-working coaching staff. This staff has systems but they are also match up oriented. They put in the work that I didn't see from the previous staff. This means that they have the ability to squeeze good things out of a talent base that has good skills across the board but few special "Shady" like players. They demand a hard work mentality, a study hard and play hard focus and the results lead to overachieving. The Bills also have built a really good scouting and administration team. They understand the systems the coaches have implemented, they understand the division opponents (thanks Joe Schoen) who make up the key part of the Bills schedule and they find players who fit these systems and create matchup advantages. This group proved last year with limited time that they can make some lemonade out of other folks sour lemons. It could all go to hell in a handbasket due to things out of their control (injuries, suspensions), but outside of those occurrences, I think the Bills have a solid coaching and personnel foundation. This group of coaches and the front office staff will make the Bills low years higher and high years better (Note that's why we need to get a QB this year because we will not be drafting this high again). So to stop licking McBeane's boots and to answer your thread question...I believe this team will be in contention in 2018 just like 2017. It will come down to a wild card..and we may not get lucky this coming year, but I am not seeing a regression. The roster will be better on September 1, 2018 than it was on September 1, 2017. We will pick up vets to fill holes left in the draft. They will be vet min or just above guys, For example, I can see the Bills courting Dansby and Eric Reid really hard to join a culture they can embrace after the draft to fill some holes the Bills may not be able to fill in the draft. For 2019-- I agree with you---the expectation can and should be high. I hope the Bills are going into the final two weeks with some certainty about the playoffs. 11-5 and the division sounds about right (Bills play the NFC East-- I think they can go 3-1; 4-2 in the division and 4-2 in other AFC).
  16. I find Tom Brady's fashion sense a little odd...but to each his own I guess..
  17. I did hear these guys finished a close second...
  18. Working on my sign...options..... Baker for Buffalo Its only cold on the visitor's sideline Everybody in Buffalo is a walk-on Rosen, Darnold, Allen MAYFIELD
  19. I disagree but its just my opinion/speculation. Belichick is a mind game master. Cooks was a dispensable asset and he got a 1st for him (Rams are the new Redskins). The Cheats will call around to the same teams Beane is calling trying to get in front of us.
  20. This is the team that deflates balls and takes video of other teams practices. Is your memory that short? They !@#$ with other teams in the division all the time.
  21. They are baiting Beane..Trying to get him to overpay. It's a typical Pats ploy when they get worried that a division rival might be on the verge of a substantial improvement. However, the current regime isn't Rex and company; it's not Trader Tom or Marv as a GM, it's not Buddy or Doug or Russ. McBeane is patient and knows the Bills have all the assets they need to outbid anyone if it comes to that. Let them run this before we go all...
  22. Don't forget that Belichick is a history buff..... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000786315/article/bill-belichick-to-narrate-world-war-ii-documentary My source says they are trading for the remains of LBJ...
  23. This time straight down the middle FTW with "Hausch Money" .....
  24. Interesting -- the Giants could end up with 6 first rounders in the next two years.... 2018 #6 or #7 and #22 from the Bills #23 and #32 from the Cheats 2019 Their Own #? From the Bills Rebuild on steroids and young/relatively cheap talent with lots of cap room for Gettleman. We all need to remember who Beane learned the unhappy veteran purge move from....
