  1. To Kim and Terry--this ruins the good karma of the NHL lottery and the draft...I can see wanting to bask on that for a few days. Stuff like this just doesn't hold.
  2. You are on fire today. Bringing the information and speaking the truth. Thanks for the insights.
  3. Not when you are the CEO. Its different. You will be seen as compromised by engaging in an internal relationship.
  4. Any intracompany relationship when you are the CEO will be viewed as taking advantage. No matter consensual or not. Its part of the role. You are the company, the entity, the owner's representative, the ultimate operational authority. You approve hiring, firing, promoting. Any relationship that becomes intimate or personal is seen internally and externally as one that could compromise the company and compromise your decision-making ability. If you don't get this -- I am really at a loss for how to explain it other than this.
  5. One thing I learned is that if you are in a position of power the standards are different. Taking advantage of that position even in a consensual relationship is not acceptable in any circumstance. You need to be aware of the position you hold and what you represent. So it's not criminal but criminally bad judgment and could have civil implications.
  6. Not fired, but it impacted a contract renewal and I decided to go off on my own... I owned it with my board, came completely clean and when the time came to extend my deal, I left. Its been a great decision to both own it and go off on my own, but I had to suck it up. Life is sometimes about understanding your own weaknesses, admitting them, asking for and getting help and moving on. It wasn't harassment but consensual in a unique situation. Neither party was married, but I was the senior executive. The standards are different.
  7. I agree its a loyal fan base..but remember suite sales were the key to keeping the team a decade ago and he championed that effort and got it done.
  8. One could argue he is the main reason Buffalo still has the Bills and for that I commend him. I feel really sorry for him if he exercised bad professional judgment. Having done the same thing...I can't criticize only tell him to not hide from this or deny it if it happened. Own it and move forward.
  9. Thanks, Limeaid. Didn't know this. Really appreciate the information.
  10. Not that it matters but probably also ruined a career of a rookie QB by sapping every bit of confidence he had. Hopefully, they learned...or else they will !@#$ up Allen as well. My biggest fear with Allen has nothing to do with him as a player, its the Bills relying on the existing staff to develop him. I would love for them to contract with Jordan Palmer and Bruce Arians to help. Arians did a great job building structures around Manning and Big Ben to help them. The Bills need someone who has done this before. Part of becoming great is knowing when you need help.....and being open to it.
  11. My question in that game was "Why come out throwing?" You had a D that was worst against the run in the league -- almost 5 yards a carry. Pound the !@#$ing rock. Get Ingram and Bosa to do their normal too far upfield push and just plow it to open up the pass. I think the Bills coaching staff outsmarted itself thinking Lynn would be ready for that. What do we do...with a rookie QB...instead of playing small ball and keeping it away from Rivers -- we base the game plan on getting the ball to Benjamin and he gets hurt the first catch. I was hoping for a game plan like Atlanta on the road...but no we think Peterman became Brett Farve on the plane ride out and we are going to get into a shooting match. I gave McD one of his rookie HC mistakes on that one...I couldn't watch...it was the Christians/Lions scenario. I even watched the New Orleans debacle but SD was too much for me to take.
  12. My goodness.....McD must be over the moon about his one...
  13. He's on with Murph and Tasker right now. He is great. The interview is a definite listen once archived. An absolute stud. Just a sample.. Q: How do you know you are having a good game? A: I look at my LB's jersey in the 3rd quarter and if its clean and he has 8 tackles I am having a good game! Q: How will you judge success this year? A: We were 9-7 last year and finished second in the AFC-E. On December 30th this year-- we are a success if we are winning the AFC-E. (not individual right to the team).. Love this kid. #99 just got a huge upgrade,
  14. I think Dallas got a steal, Bill. But I think we did okay with Wyatt Teller. He's a grabber though. He's going to have to lose that in the NFL.
  15. Beane: Thomas, how you doing? Dimitroff: Brandon, doing great. You surviving the 9 months of winter? Beane: Yeah buddy, its different than Carolina...Heard Julio was dissatisfied with his deal. We'd be more than happy to take him off your hands. Dimitroff: This year's 22 and next years #1? Beane: Jeez, I think I'll call Gettleman about OBJ again... Dimitroff: Julio's don't grow on trees.
  16. Would that be like Janis Joplin? Or one of King David's wives?
  17. What do Kony Ealy, Damon Harrison, Sheldon Rankins and Carlos Dunlap have in common...they all had one more interception than Jamal Adams last year...even Wilkerson and Richardson had more interceptions than Adams....wow....way to bring a recycling container to a trash talk...
  18. He certainly doesn't seem like a mentally weak or a dumb kid, in fact, the opposite. He already faced a test having to deal with a nightmare on draft day. He handled that like a mature adult. He owned up to it-- even calling Stephen A. Smith at 2 AM to talk for 30 minutes about his regret. That said, I don't think he's ready. He's got to learn an offense and work on his mechanics and work on recognition. One of those would be a lot for any prospect. Accomplishing all three likely not doable between now and September. This kid has the potential to be a special talent if he is coached and managed correctly. Bring Jordan Palmer in to continue the work, have a plan to work him in the last 6 weeks or so if the season is lost. If not, keep getting him scout reps, particularly when prepping for teams who run a similar O. Target a full off-season and open the competition next year no matter what happens this year. I think David Carr could have been decent if he wasn't a tackling dummy his first 4 years.
  19. Agree Hapless. He likes to go back shoulder as well and the receivers expect it. The highlight throws were all truly highlight throws and there were a lot of them :-) I was pretty impressed...Nice mechanics, good pocket awareness. Can he adjust to the speed of the NFL -- doubtful and he is probably at the top of his range-- but if I were in the CFL I would be on the phone....
  20. Yep. Few of them are on the "lists" of the best out there...but the ones from Bama are definitely helped by Daboll's insider knowledge. Really excited about Wallace and Foster.
