Say what you want about this new leadership
The Dean replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is only relevant if you assume their decisions MUST be bad if they made them. He provides no intelligent reason for why the Bills should have kept Edwards on the team. Well, the Bills didn't take Edwards with the #1 overall pick. So they aren't that stupid. Oakland should have let Russel go way before they did. They were STUPID for keeping him until the offseason, IMO. -
Walsh's grave dirt adds value to just about anything!

What a horrible article by Tim G. I don't always agree with him, but he is usually fair. Not this time. -
Trent Edwards to have a new team by 4pm tomorrow

Unless the Bills find a way to bring some pressure, he just might have a shot at that. -
A Cry For Honesty in Discussing Bills Players
The Dean replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, apparently "honesty" is being negative. And "True Statements" are clearly statements of opinion. Wizard, indeed. -
Friggin' guy was a legend and as clutch as they came. RIP George!

I seriously doubt Ralph made this call. But if he did, GOOD FOR HIM! -
The Jimmy Clausen era in Carolina
The Dean replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I won't jump on Promo for posting this. He clearly wasn't suggesting that Clausen stunk, based on this one game. But I bet, had Clausen had a good game, there would be several posters lined up to post "I told you so" based on the one game. You KNOW that's true. -
So, in this new method of scoring, the offense gets no credit for FGs? Nice try. Epic Fail.

Am I absolutely crazy or...
The Dean replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You saw that thread, but that thread wasn't good enough for this post? If you don't think people are going to respond to a douchy "I told you so" thread (after a couple of good games) about employing a serial dog torturer and murderer, you must be crazy. What makes you think THIS thread won't be similarly co-opted? -
Fitzpatrick threw 2 costly INT's, yet....
The Dean replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want to see Brohm as much as anyone, I think. But if Fitz has another good performance I think you leave it alone for now. But like you I would like to give Brohm a shot to see if he is the next starting QB of this team. -
I agree with much of your post, except for the statement above. Given the score, the field position and time left on the clock, I think most coaches would take the points. Kicking the field goal is the measured and thoughtful move here. Given that, I was the only one in my group that wanted the team to go for it. I figured by going for it, Chan makes a statement to HIS team. "No more playing not to lose. No more playing it safe." The Bills have been very good in short yardage situations. I know it would be going against traditional logic, but I think the Bills may have to do the unexpected a few times this year. Now, had they gone for it and failed, I might understand this thread, as kicking the FG is the "right" move in this situation.

I don't think the ball was catchable, but I think it might have been touchable. I was surprised Nelson made NO effort on the play.

Pretty BS call, I think. But yes, Steve should have low-keyed it a bit. Based on this, I amend my last comment. I still think the penalty was undeserved, but as you note the gun thing may have sealed the deal. Poor choice by Johnson.

I think your analysis of Russ' position is right on the money up until Levy came to town. My understanding is, after Levy left, Russ had a lot more input and power. As for who of the top brass wanted Maybin and who didn't...who knows?
-
It certainly wasn't Levy as the poster justnzane responded to claimed. Levy was LONG GONE from the team by the time Maybin was drafted. Levy retired at the end of the 2007 season. Maybin was drafted in 2009. There are some really clueless people on this board. Seeing as how Russ was the GM of the Bills in 2009, who do you suppose drafted Maybin?
-
Yup. And OLB isn't even on the list.

I don't believe it is "acceptable" to any Bills fan. But I believe one-whine-fits-all chants of "a loss is a loss" or "the Bills suck and will always suck", etc are far dumber, if you are really trying to evaluate the team and its future. Clearly there are some posters here who seem incapable of ever diagnosing and fixing an problem because they would simply throw something away if it didn't work perfectly, or replace everyone associated with a losing performance. IMO, the best approach is to try to honestly evaluate what works, what doesn't and why. The problem with the team the past two weeks, and honestly the past few years, is it has been hard to figure out what parts are worth keeping, what parts are improving, what parts have potential, etc. If the Bills continue to lose, but do it like they did today, those observations might be a bit easier to make. You really can't tell if a WR is any good if the QB can't/won't get the ball to him, for example. Should I assume you will continue to take shots at the die-hard Bills fans who will continue to talk about the ups and downs of the team, criticize, praise, find room for improvement when they win (someday!) find silver linings in hard fought losses? I mean why not? It's really easy to do, requires virtually no effort or thought. -
Damn! The annual Lockport sex party at the fire hall is canceled? What has this world come to? I thought this was particularly amusing: Of course we are all SHOCKED that anyone would even imagine a volunteer fireman would commit adultery.

Other than some 4th quarter pressure by Williams, did ANYONE (from the Bills D) get close to Brady today? I know it's quite popular to bash Maybin, but I think the criticism could be leveled at any of the Bills pass rushers today.

I wouldn't be completely sure about that. I thought Brohm showed real flashes of talent in the preseason. That doesn't mean I KNOW he will be good, but I think he may actually combine a higher level of talent than either Trent or Fitz, with Fitz-like guts and competitiveness. But if Fitz continues to play well (minus the game killing mistakes) I'm in no hurry to rush Brohm to the starting spot. One thing is for sure in my mind, Trent would have stunk the joint up today. Many of the plays Fitz made seem to be out of Trent's comfort zone. -
Hope this still isn't a Lynch showcase
The Dean replied to Drew026's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd prefer the Bills not trade Lynch UNLESS they can get a decent player that fills a position of need in return. I'd consider a trade for a decent OLB/OT.
