I think everyone agrees home field advantage is a real thing. An opposing teams banner in the end zone of your own stadium takes away from that advantage far more than just cheering for your team in the stadium. They shouldn't have allowed it for competitive reasons. Did he have a approval? Sure. Should Cam have torn it down? No. We are mixing emotional and rational thought in this thread though. But the argument that the sign did nothing, and that who cares it's just a game is asinine. They are competing for a reason.

Paid for military tributes in the news again

That probably would be better, but they mix it all the time. Sentimentality, and pride are a driving factor in recruitment. You see it in the commercials, they don't typically get you in the door with logical reasoning of the benefits of joining the military, they get these kids in the door by giving them a sense of pride, and duty of supporting and defending their country, and then in the recruitment office they sell them on the benefits. -
Paid for military tributes in the news again

Maybe I am just gullible but the team statements on page 143 and 145 are exactly what I believed the situation was. The Military reached out for recruitment efforts, and the NFL (and others) did the BAU marketing package for them. Jets "The facts are that from 2011-2014 the New Jersey National Guard (and, to clarify, no other Military branch) had an advertising and promotional contract with the Jets. The National Guard approached us, seeking our promotional assets to reach their target audience. The National Guard, and the U.S. Military in general, spend millions annually to maintain an all-volunteer force. As a National Guard spokesman recently confirmed, his organization has found it effective to use some of its budget with the Jets, the NFL, and other sports properties. Our understanding is that this arrangement was similar in content to other sports advertising expenditures made by the National Guard." Falcons "I’m sure many of you have read various news accounts regarding the National Guard’s marketing partnership with a number of NFL teams, including the Falcons, and other sports entities. Unfortunately, many of the stories failed to accurately present the business relationships between the two groups, and we want to make sure you have the facts to alleviate any concerns you may have. Our marketing and sponsorship agreement with the National Guard is designed to fulfill their objectives of increasing awareness and aiding in recruiting efforts, which has become more important in an all-volunteer service environment. This is no different than any other sponsorship agreement in that it is structured to fit a business need. Our agreement with the National Guard during the 2014 season included advertising on the Falcons website and in the Atlanta Falcons Playbook, which is distributed to fans on game day; signage in the Georgia Dome; LED and backlit messaging on Falcons game days; activation at Falcons Landing on game days; and participation in a number of other game program activities. As explained by National Guard spokesman Rick Breitenfeldt in a recent story on ESPN.com, their spending with teams in all sports on year-round advertising and marketing programs is a way to reach important audiences. "We have hundreds of [sponsorship agreements] with teams, including minor league baseball and at high schools," he said. "We have found that spending in sports to help us recruit in our 18-24 demographic works out for us". " -

I haven't read a ton of it (its 150 pages), but the little I read makes this seem a little petty. x DOD spent $10.4 million on marketing and advertising contracts with professional sports teams (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and MLS) between 2012 and 2015 FY12 - $2.8 million FY13 - $3.9 million FY14 - $2.6 million FY15 - $1 million Particular examples of paid patriotism items could be considered waste and abuse of taxpayer funds, including: The Air Force paying the LA Galaxy for “recognition of five high ranking officers of the Air Force” in a 2012 game and four sideline season tickets The National Guard paying the Seattle Seahawks for the “opportunity for up to 10 soldiers to reenlist pre-game on the field” at a 2014 game; The Air Force paying the Cincinnati Bengals $4,960 for 60 club level tickets; The National Guard paying the Indianapolis Colts for use of a luxury suite, autographed items, pregame field visits and cheerleader appearances The National Guard paying the Indiana Pacers for 40 lower level center court seats The National Guard paying the Boston Bruins for a luxury box for 18 people and an executive view suite for 25 people on Military Appreciation Night. Third wildcard...when is that happening, if at all?
What a Tuel replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not for sure yet, but I think its only a matter of time before they expand to Canada and London. Or maybe London, and another US city. I agree though. Making the playoffs in a watered down system just isn't the same. We need to break that stigma this year though before we are stuck in history as the longest running playoff drought before the change. Let's give it to Cleveland! -
I ended up getting Boldin, someone ahead of me got White on the Waiver. I am screwed if Forte isn't back for Week 11 with Ingram going on bye. Come back Forte!

I think they will expand it to 16 teams when they add 2 new expansion teams to the league. They get their expansions, and the playoffs are not watered down as much. -

http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/20674/expect-rex-ryan-to-name-game-specific-bills-captains This was known before the season - They even tried to write the controversy about Incognito. It turns out IK is much more interesting, and you guys are fooled into being outraged again. The team was in shambles because of Idzik. They fired him too you know. They hire Maccagnan as GM and he makes key free agent pickups on offense, and defense, and has a great draft. And suddenly they are better than they were. But yeah, I am sure it was because Rex Ryan annoys you that they were bad. -

I didn't go back farther because players on teams change a lot and I think this has a lot to do with our players more than Rex. But for fun: 2009 Bills: 11th Jets: 9th 2010 Bills: 28th Jets: 6th 2011: Bills: 28th Jets: 21st -

You are finding unrelated facts to suit your opinion of Rex Ryan. Correlation does not imply causation. Penalties 2015 Bills 1st Jets 28th 2014 Bills 5th Jets 20th 2013 Bills 9th Jets 13th 2012 Bills 15th Jets 30th Edit: On another random note: 1913 accepted penalties in 132 games for an average 14.5 penalties per game this year. On par for over 3800 penalties. Last year (including playoffs), the NFL had 3526 accepted penalties in 267 games or 13.2 a game. 2013 there were 3245 accepted penalties in 267 for 12.15 a game. When will the escalations stop? -
Yeah, I can see the money part then. Hindsight says it was an awful move, but I don't think anyone was confident Kolb was going to do us any favors.
-
Yeah I thought he was going to drop it. In slow motion it's insane, I think the first bounce goes behind him, and it seems like he just calmly taps it back in front of him. So good. Even better when you realize the sun was in his eyes.
-
If it put him right between Kolb and Cassel then how much cheaper was Kolb when we cut Fitz to sign him? I would have loved to see Fitz stick around rather than signing Kolb. Especially when the plan was to have the guy start while Manuel sits.

I think you are right. I rooted for the Seahawks all the way until they won the Super Bowl. Then I said that's quite enough Mr. "Repeat". I think the Packers are the only successful team I actually root for haha -
My problem is with the idea that Suh could've but didn't. He isn't the type, and after he spun him around I don't think he had the leverage. And beyond that why it would have been a roughing the passer call if Suh did take him down as he was trying to throw the football. So I guess I agree with you under the premise that he would've gotten penalized.
-
Suh spun him around so it wasn't for lack of effort. He spun him around and Taylor still didn't go down. I don't see why it should be a dead play. http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/25367291/ndamukong-suh-tells-refs-hell-slam-the-bleep-out-of-qb-after-blown-sack-call
