  1. Ralph Wilson chose the name the Bills from the World football team Buffalo Bills just post WW2 as we had a team in the late 40’s. You can thank George Halas of the Bears for being the reason we were not granted the ability to join the NFL. He was so passionate about the Bills and Buffalo, he was instrumental in the start of the foolish 8 and the AFL, basically saying screw you NFL, and screw Halas. Then he bailed out Al Davis who was going bankrupt and almost had the Raiders fold up their tent in the early 60’s. He then was helpful in poaching top college players from the NFL to go to the AFL. That is the reason why the Bills were a big part of the NFL eventually caving and had the AFL roll into the NFL as the AFC. Beyond that he was the catalyst among other owners to share TV revenue as Rozelle and others knew small market teams were necessary to grow the league vs. jack offs like Jerah ( sorry mods for the remark ) to slant towards only large market teams. He also rebuffed several efforts to move the team. To change the name is not right. It’s only my opinion, but I’m 51 and my team is the BUFFALO BILLS. To change it would be like changing the Packers, Chiefs, Bears, Giants, and so on. We’re part of NFL history and I like many of you absolutely love our team and it’s name. I’m not calling anyone out at all for throwing out the idea and understand some of those names are cool, but it’s not us. We are the Bills and I’m proud of our team through thick and thin. We have a long history which includes before my time AFL champions back to back in the 60’s and even though we lost, no team has ever gone to 4 straight SB’s. Not the Steelers, Patriots, Vikings, Cowboys, etc. Again, please don’t think I am slamming anyone who floated the idea of changing the name. I just love my team the way it is and where it is ( yes, I know poor grammar and syntax).
  2. Perfect choice. Younger fans don’t know how painful it was to watch the Bills to lose to the Dolphins 20 times and finally beat them. Chuck Knox ended the streak just like we will soon end the Patriots streak. This year, next year, but soon.
  3. Allen Alexander Hyde Thats my guess. It’s a wag though.
  4. Thanks bud. Very much appreciated.
  5. Slim Shady, thanks for doing this as I think you were the person who did this for the last few years. Us out of town former Buffalonians really appreciate it. A very nice gesture.
  6. I’m just happy he cares so much he’s willing to recurrently volunteer his time to help Oliver and probably Phillips out in the beginning and now end of training camp. He doesn’t want to work 16 hrs a day 7 days a week. I’m sure in 13 years he’s made more than enough money that he probably wants to help this team keep it’s momentum. He is most interested is my guess to be a great dad and husband and commit to his family. I’m grateful as so many other retired players would never do what he’s done. Speaks to his high character.
  7. GR, I agree with you on the Jets as they may be better than many think. I still believe we’re going to beat them Sunday though. The Giants probably deserve to be in the bottom 7 as they still have lots of problems with their line, etc. I expect we will be in part two, but then again, who cares where people rank us? It’s just like power rankings. Who cares? They don’t indicate wins and losses.
  8. Treadwell was never able to get separation from defenders. Not worth it.
  9. I’m sure some will go to the practice squad tomorrow, and he doesn’t write out by position the 53, but at least it’s something. If anyone has more please release so we can take a look. Also, we have no idea until probably who they pick up on waiver wires by tomorrow afternoon. Have a good night guys.
  10. It just came across WGR a minute ago.
  11. You beat me to it.
  12. Well, living in Tampa, and it is looking better and better to move to the East so the East coast will probably face hurricane conditions, but always a positive if the eye doesn’t hit land. what really stinks for the East coast is not just flooding, but probably losing power for an extensive period of time. Most Buffalonians are not used the 90’s with high humidity. It will be brutal on them if that happens. On the west coast, we most likely have anything happen to us.
  13. Id roll with that, but only if he could negotiate a good, but not crazy contract. We need $ next year to extend some of these 1 year prove it deals.
  14. Luck in his first 6 years ranks up there with Marino and other greats in their first years starting as a QB. There is nothing felonious about this decision. The man was hurt so much, he said enough is enough, and yes the fans, not all, but those who booed should be ashamed. They didn’t tank all year fir Luck. Maybe the last game or two when all hope was gone. In addition, he may have been able to keep part of his bonus, but would have made significantly more $, if he just went on IR, and the team would have put him there with the hope he would come back.
  15. Tatonka, I am sincerely not picking on you, but watching ESPN is a mistake. They are not well informed and just use peripheral information and make silly assertions. Again, just friendly advice and don’t watch ESPN. You’ll just get annoyed when the Bills come up.
  16. I don’t see any trades, but I’ve been wrong more than enough times.
  17. Barkley will not start unless Allen is hurt.
  18. Base has done nothing, and they have weakness behind their defensive line. Our defense is complete and will outplay the Jets. The key is our OLine. We haven’t seen Morse yet, but taking the leap we will better at protection when he plays. Ill take the Bills, but I agree it will be close.
  19. Amen. Weis is absolutely horrible, and I loved Ross in the mornings. His podcast is very good, but it’s not the same as the inability to call in and have a dialogue. He’ll be successful whatever he does in broadcasting. He should be on the national shows during the season.
  20. I do eball, but still believe Clowney is an upgrade. I’m not married to it, as if not happening, I think we’ll be fine, but want us to be so dominating, that makes the offense easier to score. I respect as always you’re opinion.
  21. Well said Yolo as always. First, why the hell does the Dolphins want to give up a 1st, when they’ll need a QB. remember Suck for Luck. This is tank for Tooah (not sure on spelling). The Bills have the $ and could make our defense the #1 defense in the NFL. I don’t see Beane giving a #1, but I could see them dealing Lawson or Murphy and a #2. The contract would be substantial, but given Allen is cheap for now, and Clowney is still young, I could see it happening. Hughes, Star, Oliver, and Clowney could compete with NE. That pressure would be formidable, and Clowney is fantastic against the run. He hasn’t lived up to the mark on sacks which is surprising opposite of Watt, but we could always use more run defense. It was our one weak spot on defense last year. I hope it happens. These contracts will expire when we have to pay Allen.
  22. At most pup until better. No point in trying to make him play when hurt. I know no one on this board, but casual fans thinks a toe is a minor thing, and as we know it is not. I’d rather see a 100% Foster in October, than a problem all year given his speed is one of his best assets. We have a winnable September except NE, so so as the schedule gets tougher, having two speed demons in Brown and Foster, and two underneath in Beasley, and Jones will be needed. I don’t know what you’re thoughts were on Friday, but I expected more from the 1’s. The only one one who really impressed me on offense was Gore at 36. The man is beating Father Time on one of the most grueling positions. He absolutely deserves the HOF. If he has a positive year, he will be one step closer to 3 vs. 4 in NFL history.
  23. I’m sorry to hear about Luck’s retirement, but it was probably the right one with all of those injuries. Sad as he is the most talented QB who has come out of the draft in several years, except Wilson. I am confident Reich will still build a winning team. It is sad from a team standpoint as I want d to see Luck kick the crap out of the Patriots this year. They are building a great team, but definitely a hit.
