  1. I'm pretty sure that would put you in the minority then. I know plenty of football fans in the area who either dislike the Bills or at the very least have other favorite teams. I'm certain if I were to ask them if they would prefer the Bills to either remain a slightly below average team or pack it in and leave they would choose the former. Regarding the Jills, they aren't bad but they don't compare in terms of hotness to some of the other teams. I don't that I have an explanation, but perhaps squads like those associated with the Cowboys and Dolphins are much more well known and therefore are able to draw from a larger pool of potential candidates. It may also have more to do with the popularity of cheering in the area as well. I would suspect cheering is more popular in the South - just a guess though.
  2. I'm still pretty sure you missed the point which is this: It's better to have a local professional football team than to not have one, even if you are just a football fan with no specific allegiance to a given team. I'm not saying you aren't entitled to that opinion, but I think you are in the minority for sure. I'd find it highly improbable that there are large numbers of sport fans that wouldn't want a professional franchise in their area, lousy or otherwise.
  3. Way to miss the point entirely. The analogy was meant to counter the notion that fans are supporting mediocrity, when in fact we are simply trying to enjoy the only real option at watching live professional football. The alternative (not supporting it) would likely mean that the option to attend a game would eventually cease to exist (in practical terms that is; I like not having to travel a long diatnce to watch an NFL game in person). So again - eat a turd or starve, assuming live football is what you hunger for. I feel the analogy stands up quite well. But if you want to stay home, more power to you.
  4. Nope. I was just trying to point out that when given the option for having a lousy NFL team versus no NFL team, the option is pretty clear for a football fan. See, it's this thing called an analogy...
  5. So if you were starving would you rather die or be forced to eat lousy food?
  6. Thanks gang!
  7. I just said the same thing to a friend via email.
  8. I'm not sure we watched the same clip. I didn't come away with a very good feeling at all.
  9. Once again: Good job Tim Graham! That really fills in a lot of the holes in the various reports we have heard. For example, this helps me to understand why Evans may have been confused and went to ask the coaches "WTF?". Jauron gets wind of it and gives Turk the heave-ho.
  10. I suppose it could have been a bad meeting and a good day. Or a bad meeting and a bad day. Maybe it was a mediocre meeting and a so-so day....
  11. Fire is the best weapon against the undead.
  12. They use very thick pages in Indy.
  13. Didn't see it coming. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...y-surprise-cut/ Is it possible that we see some other surprising cuts on offense? Maybe some guys Turk wanted but Jauron did not?
  14. Bad week for hardware in your world...
  15. Thanks! So do people park at Hammers and party at the pinto?
  16. It's not even hard to get into MENSA. Last time I looked a 1200 on the SAT would qualify you.
  17. Will there be many TBD'ers there tonight? I live pretty much in walking distance, so if so I will stop down to meet some of you.
  18. Man that was funny!
  19. We purchased an in-ground last summer and are very happy with it. Your 30K figure is spot on when factoring in concrete and landscaping. Figure on spending about $400 per summer on chemicals. Get a heater - it's well worth it and uses far less natural gas than you would imagine. Also - get a Loop-Loc cover. I can't stress that enough. Very durable and very safe. Lastly, I can't recommend Colley's Pools enough. They were great from start to finish. Make sure you give them a call.
  20. Or let it go, and don't be the guy who disrespects the national anthem by talking during it. It actually makes you the bigger a-hole, because you are being disruptive, where as the other guy is just wearing a goddam hat. It's akin to hitting a child for hitting someone else.
  21. This is what I should have done in each of the Bills Superbowl appearances. Bet $500.00 against them every time. After all, who wouldn't pay 5 hundo to see the Bills win it all? The alternative is making a bunch of dough. Win-Win!
  22. Q: You know what's more annoying than people who don't take their hats off to show respect for the national anthem? A: People who talk during the national anthem and say things like "Take off your hat".
  23. 20 bucks says those expressing teh moast outrage have eaten french fries or german potato salad on the 4th of July from a plate with an American flag, and then wiped their mouths with a napkin displaying old glory.
