    It also be that they might not want to try and match bids. Think about it this way; Those guys clearly want an NFL team. They know it's unlikely they will get this one, so why get into an unwinnable biffing war that will only drive up the sale price of the next available team? Doing so is against their own best interests.

    Don't forget the cost of operating a football team with drastically reduced sponsorship, merch and ticket sales. Wild-ass speculation; The loss in revenue might be enough to cause them to lose money for 6 years depending on what their financing is like (since they presumably aren't paying cash).

    Empire used to carry the scrimmages with the Browns. Granted, that was years ago, but I'm not sure the NFL would charge an arm and a leg to have a local station carry it.
