Week 5 - Bills at Texans Game Week Thread

When a qb hits that deep open spot vs a cover 2 zone past the depth of where the lb can drop to. It can also be the hole between the corner and safety on the deep outside. Gruden used to call that the “ turkey hole” -

Not what I was asking you really, but ok thx. Like do you know how they would measure those zone responsibilities? I find it similar to PFF blocking grades, so I want to be careful is all. How would you measure who's responsibility a hole shot completion between 2 zone defenders was? Is it the trailing corner or the over the top safety? -

I agree that Lewis is a liability out there as a starter (would be the case for any backup on any team). Its pretty visibly obvious at times. Do tell me though about the faith that you have in these calculations (ie. player x is allowing whatever completion % and yards per attempt against), when the Bills use more zone coverage than almost any team out there. Do you feel like they do a great job of determining which player has actual responsibility when say one man is in trail coverage technique while another plays over top? Serious question here, not doubting you... but maybe doubting the stat provider. -

there are collectively bargained standards for what coaches are allowed to say about players. He would literally get fined or grieved for revealing what you're looking for him to say. -
2 entire halves of running the clock out with a multi-score lead and yet I can't believe just how many smart posters on this board are still citing stats over 4 games in comparison. It may pan out either way, yes, but the goal of the Bills offense is moving the ball and scoring points to secure a victory in each game. through 3 games the Bills did that better than every other team in the league. In the 4th game, they failed at it pretty badly. Let's see where it is after 8-10 weeks at least? and measure "success" off of scoring points and moving the ball (generating 1st downs) and not how many yards some WR has or doesn't have. That is how the Bills will be measuring their own success or lack there of, regardless of how some fans want to measure it. With that said, I wouldn't mind Adams at all if we can somehow make the financials work (doubtful)! Of course he would make the team better.

The reason the original post is so ridiculous is because we CAN see him being tentative and thoughtful about getting down before the hitter arrives, understanding the consequences of doing otherwise... Its clear visibly. He's gearing down as contact approaches. Its not like he is struggling running as hard and fast as he can in these instances and just coming up short of the mark. That's a visible thing. The only thing that could really be debated here is not the original question, but whether he is being more tentative because of the hand injury or because of the advice he's been given finally sinking in about living to play another down. That answer will be learned once the hand is healed.

I'm really starting to love this WR room. We quietly got better

For those citing stats in either narrative's direction - of the 85 minutes and 20 seconds the Bills offense has had the ball thus far in 3 games, approximately 25 minutes of it has been running out the clock with large leads in hand. The course of a season should balance things out so that the numbers have some sort of significance, at least for the gist of this debate. -

Who honestly thinks Troy Aikman was a better QB than Dan Marino? Those of you that say what matters is the rings do. And you're wrong. -
All but 2 of us are eliminated 🤣 Can we get a mulligan after one of these 2 folks win? LOL

You’d think one of the local media reporters could ask Coach if the kick was tipped or not in his regular press conference. I didn’t hear it being brought up.

While I 100% agree that Bass may now be done here, simply citing fg% for prior years is a bit simplistic because kicking in Buffalo, NY is not the same as kicking in domes and many southern/ western locations. Bass was plenty good enough ( given, never a “top” kicker) for 2/3 years for this team. Now, not so much. I believe only Pittsburgh ( more due to the field) is considered a harder place to kick than Buffalo. -

Davidson! And ik ik level of competition, but both these backup QBs are at least willing passers. It’s refreshing. -
