  1. Sorry I don't buy the Moulds comment for a second. He has NEVER shown a propensity to shy away from contact in his entire career nor has he short armed any balls that I have seen thrown. What I do see is his stubborn desire to take every catch (or potential catch) he makes and turn it into a RAC long gainer , thus at times losing immediate concentration on the task of catching the ball first. This is good in some senses but you got to know when to fold 'em sometimes too. I'm not trying to dispute your opinion that this guy knows football but that comment is unfounded, period. .... Oh and only a marginal fan would not know this
  2. I could have saved you some work on those stats if you saw my post above in this thread . Oh well, it's good to reinforce....
  3. smartass!
  4. I believe the "football outsiders" website might already have something very similar to that. Sorry I do not have the URL.
  5. 1: # of points given up- 8th (much better than pretty average) 2: total ypa: Rushing- #3 (way better than "ok") Passing #1 (can't get better than that) 3: # of turnovers - #1 (slightly better than "ok" ) 4: # of sacks- #3 (see above) 5: 3rd down comp rate- #13 (even still above average) There is no loophole for you this year re: our defense. Sorry
  6. I agree with this. For all the promise Edwards has shown as a pass rusher/penetrator, he has shown nothing in comparison to PW as far as ability to gain leverage and clog holes in the middle of the line, allowing LBs to roam freely.
  7. 193346[/snapback] This may be this weakest rebuttal to defend a point I have seen in a long time. The Fletcher "6 yards downfield" argument has already been run into the ground and refuted a thousand times. Your point on Clements could be refuted by simply referencing his pick in the last game. And you have made no point on AS.
  8. Is that a fact Mark VI? If not, who reported that? because I had heard that the team was willing to let him go if he really wanted out and he chose to stay....
  9. just to add, we were #2 overall, #1 in takeaways, and #3 in sacks. Ouch!
  10. Speaking of player packages, was that the time when Shaud was in because Willis had a stinger and missed a few plays, or no? I was questioning WTF Shaud was in for at the time over Willis myself. Also, while were referencing TV replays what did you think of the interference call when the Steelers had third and long and threw deep down the right seem? It looked to most of us (even Steeler fans) like any of the contact was incidental....
  11. You certainly had the advantage of seeing the replay on TV which I did not, so if you say the pitch was unmanageable I will take your word for it. I still think the dive was the play to call though. Did you see the size (or lack of) of those defensive tackles? No back side whatsoever on 'em
  12. Shaud was on the bench sulking with a towel on his head for a long period after the failed counter pitch play. It was my belief at the time that the pitch was a little high but certainly something he should have handled. Simon is right that the play would have gone for a big gainer if successful (atleast 15 to 20 yards). In spite of this , I agree with those who feel that a much less risky philosophy should have been employed. The Steelers had two undersized DT's in the game at the time and a dive play or sneak surely would have been successful though unspectacular.
  13. "The Concussion" was the play where Bruce Smith blind-sided and knocked out then Chief's QB Joe Montana out of the AFC Championship I'd like to see Pittsburgh do this to Brady
  14. Fletcher - Let's see... there is likely ONE middle/inside linebacker playing better than he this season in the AFC and that's Farrior. Clements - 6 picks, knack for getting to the endzone, did not get beat deep hardly at all this season. Get rid of him! I'll give you the pass rushing end, although Schobel is a complete player.
  15. Well this I know... From my seat 19 rows up there were no less than 7 of our defenders with their hands on their hips during each huddle from the late 3rd quarter on. Maybe it was that the starting Pitt O-line just mauls people , I don't know. I suppose I shouldn't even have tried to use statistics when I and my friends could physically see the fatigue from my seat aye?
  16. I can't argue with what they're saying at all. Pretty much sums it up nicely doesn't it?
  17. Ok well they ran more plays and were effective enough running the ball to get some wear on us , and our D had to leave the field and go back out there after Drew's pick and Nate's fumble as well.
  18. That's what I was saying wasn't I ? Or were you just validating
  19. great post Mickey. Thanks for taking the time.
  20. Other than in the JAX game which was a fluke, BF is dead on about this one. It's one argument when, like in 2003, we are #2 in yardage but poor in sacks, turnovers etc. but this season we were #2 in yards, #1 in takeaways, #3 in sacks, etc. All teams have the opportunity to pad stats against certain opponents so that is a non factor when used in comparison. I was dissapointed in the D in this last game but I could also see that they were tired from all the TOP Pitt had earlier on...
  21. Not a bloody chance in hell. I respect that you have the nad to even say this though.
  22. Ok you don't get it. Sam Aiken would not draw the extra coverage....Hello?
  23. Great Post! I'm only at 26 years but I can still look at the big picture and you are right that things have not looked this good in a long time as an organization despite yesterday's dissapointing performance.
  24. Double coverage in today's game does not always mean you're going to see 2 guys hitting the WR at the same time as the ball arrives. When you see EM catching a pass or getting thrown to it generally means they have found a way to motion him away from the extra coverage or he has run a come back route to avoid the over the top cover man. Moulds does not need to be a top 5 WR (although he is close) to have great value to the Bills. I already did agree that his salary will need to be restructured.
  25. What really needs to happen next season is for the staff to allow JP and Drew to battle it out for the starting position during camp and pre-season. The better man will get the job. All the rest is mere opinion and speculation.
