  1. Martin plays the position with athleticism and technique, and has room to grow into his frame. The "too small" crowd needs to return from 1995 and look around the league a little bit. A massive LT can still operate successfully in the league but by no means is it a requirement - see D'brick Ferguson
  2. Would love to get Martin at 41!
  3. Does your team building theory now appear in every post? lol, just ribbin' ya man. FWIW - most of the "experts" (very debatable I know) I pay attention to (including Nix himself who has done this for a while) subscribe to "collecting talent" as the best way to draft and get the most value. The one exception being a team that can afford to take risks with their picks because they are already a contender. I get what you keep saying about it though, and it's all really subjective either way.
  4. I like Wilson a lot too from what I've seen of him. Super bright and athletic... Utilizes throwing lanes extremely well for his height.
  5. The Salary bracketing has changed big time. Free Agency also has changed vastly from 1989 (were we even in "plan B" yet?) Both I would think would be major factors. I'm sure every team has a chart for this, but thinking that it hasn't changed , possibly even drastically is probably short-sighted.
  6. Having "A Chart" I'm sure is of high importance. Using Jimmy Johnson's outdated chart from the late 80's as your bible is likely not a very good plan, as many factors have changed since then. So, certainly not the end of the debate in my opinion. Using Jimmy's dated chart seems to be a bit foolish in 2012.
  7. Whatever. Why even waste a reply with this nonsense you spew. Opinions such as mine are what we do here. Or maybe we should all just listen to Mayock and talk about other stuff like our summer plans? Why do I see a trend of folks getting really defensive when talking about this Kuechly kid?
  8. I watched a bunch of his highlights is all I have seen, and he didn't compare athletically to many I have seen in the past in regards to coverage (as 1st half of first round picks go). However, his intelligence and reflex ability to quickly break down where the play is going allowed him to be in position in coverage most of the time. Those abilities will continue to help him in the pros, but not to the same degree. I hope he's the next Speilman, but it's hard to see that for me right now.
  9. Sorry that came out wrong... I meant talent that you cannot simply coach "into" a player.
  10. From the clips of him that are out there, he looks to be a very hard working and disciplined player , but his athletic ability (including coverage) doesn't flash out at my like a top 10-15 pick should. I'd be scared to end up with him at 10. I think Glenn, in comparison shows flashes of un-coachable talent.
  11. Kyle's injury was not an achilles injury. It was an injury that if not corrected, may have contacted and affected his achilles in a very bad way. Now he doesn't have that worry.
  12. I think Kiper is stupid to have Miami picking a LT when they already have a franchise LT. So that may be our guy ....
  13. He showed he was improving on the ball tracking when he got his chance in the Titan's game. Too much talent to move on from him. The Bills need to keep all their talent.
  14. and I think they were #1 in YPC against
  15. I agree... Mckelvin seemed to have improved in the Titan's game on his ball tracking , as if someone has been working with him. He can run with anybody (just about) and is almost always tight with his man so I say give him another chance out there. D- Flo is a decent player and good vet leader but we need him as the 3 or 4 corner , not the 1.
  16. Spiller is definitely starting to figure things out. He was explosive today. Looked a lot like Sproles , and even broke a few tackles. If he is utilized correctly next year I think it can benefit both he and Jackson.
  17. Same thing we did in the Giants superbowl... Ouch
  18. Definitely not a hold from where we sat either. That was a hell of an explosive play and would have changed the game in all likelihood. Cj had 3 runs of plus 25 if that had counted like it should have. Pretty darn impressive.
  19. Went to the game today... Spiller's play was 100X better than you perceived Bill. I'm too spent to debate much on this but I was literally shocked to read what you typed about him.
  20. It's interesting to re-confirm year after year how few football fans really have any clue what they are seeing or talking about when it comes to evaluating play away from the ball. If I can help just a little for a moment.... You notice how when teams run up the middle on a 1st or 2nd down (non-nickle or dime downs) against the Bills in 2011, that they basically get nowhere? That's Dareus. You notice on those other plays when our whole D- line gets pushed back except for one guy? That guy is Dareus. He's been very good. Oh that at good NT's and 3-4 DE's generally make between 0 and 2 tackles per game... so it's easy to see where a lot of this stems from.
  21. Agreed with the OP Considering all the major injuries AND how crappy and non-physical they played the last 4 games AND how the Jets are not that banged up AND how they had 10 days to prep for the Bills AND how the Jets were at home, I'd say it was a pretty damn good effort. Big picture thinking here. I understand that's not possible for some fans and that's their prerogative.
  22. This is an interesting thread... and so Sad but true. At some point the talent loss to IR outweighs anything one could "coach up" to get victories in the NFL.
  23. I like this point and agree
