  1. Wait, Sammy can run without his foot falling off?? But but, Willie Colon just said on National TV ,that he thinks the foot will cause him to be done with football in 2 years, at 26 years old!! Lol, what a joke these NFL news anchors and writers have become. Zero integrity. That's an awesome picture. Sammy looks great, Taylor is doing whateverhe can to get better , gain chemistry with his #1 WR. He's only going on his 30th start, I don't see why he can't make the jump to above average in the passing game and maintain being elite in the running game. Always felt he had that "it" factor
  2. Yup, as well as Lorenzo Alexander. That didn't turn out half bad! I didn't realize Boldin had 67 catches and 8 TD last year ! He only had just under 600 yards,8.7 ypc, but he's clearly still a productive WR, even if it's mainly as a Red Zone threat. Apparently his dropped pass % was very low too. And is very good blocking in the run game He'd be a very nice addition to a very young WR corps. Holmes or Boldin as your # 4 WR sounds like a pretty deep group with a lot of potential. This would be Beane's first FA signing, correct?
  3. Mid to late 20s tops. I don't consider him a top 20 cb, at least up to this point in his career. And being a good tackler at CB Def means something. To say it's meaningless is ignorant.. In run support, most likely the RB is on the outside, that missed tackle can result in huge yardage, key 1st downns and TDs. In the passing game , same thing. So yes it might be 5 plays a game but those missed tackle(s) can result in huge chunks of yards
  4. This is very generous. I view him in the late 20s, early 30s on a CB list. If he can be consistent, he'd be a stud, but 4/5 years he has been very average and inconsistent. Off the top of my head , I'd add- Jimmy Smith Dominique Rogers Cromartie Pacman Jones Jason Verett Sam Shields Countless others that you can debate.. For example, Ronald Darby. He could excel in this system. He already outplayed Gilmore in year 1. He was the 2nd best CB at tackling last year according to PFF.
  5. Awesome story first off, I can relate. I was also born in Newark and I've been living in Union NJ for the last 3 years, and lived in Garfield,NJ for my whole life prior. The very rare encounters I've had with true Bills fans in North Jersey have been awesome. Always a great conversation and an immediate bond that I can't imagine too many other fan bases experience. There's just something special about this fan base.. P.S - if you haven't been to a Bills Backer bar , you have to experience it man. I've been to one in Hoboken and Paterson /Hawthorne , and it's just a blast and an awesome experience with some if the nicest people. I make a point to go at least 3-4 times per season. I can only imagine the atmosphere for a playoff game, it'd be a day you wouldn't forget
  6. He wasn't that good, simple as that. Imo, every year we had high hopes for Gilly, and he just didn't perform at the level we expected him to perform at. He was just a very inconsistent CB and every year we expected him to make the jump to elite status and put together a full season of great CB play. Yet all we got was flashes of great play. Basically the reason fans were so hard on him ,imo, is because we thought we had an elite cb, wanted him to succeed so bad but he was just so frustrating to watch. 1 quarter he's dominant, next quarter he's subpar. 3 games he's dominant followed by 2 games of subpar play. Extremely frustrating player to watch. So glad Whaley didn't pay him!Sammy is in a similar boat with fans I guess, except majority of us agree he is an elite talent, is consistent when getting targeted, but his health is the big debate.
  7. I agree the O clammed up at times, too much, especially last year. But the limitations at QB have to be highlighted with his tenure in Denver and I feel the numbers show they fed their best WR's. 195 rec for DT and 150 for Sanders shows that the offense made it a point to get the ball in their playmaker's hands and I'm optimistic we see a big time spike in Sammy's targets. I too am excited about play action being a big part of this O and will set up some big time opportunities. I feel that play action is a very underrated part of Taylor's game. I hope Dennison tweaks his scheme to include more read option, that was a big part in our red zone success last year.
  8. I completely agree with the Watkins statements. I should pump the brakes. He definitely needs more consistency and availability. As far as production , it goes back to targets, when he is getting targets, he produces. I couldn't tell you what the coaches were thinking but it doesn't take an expert to see that the game tapes show an extremely talented, clear cut # 1 WR, that has been criminally under utilized. If I had to answer, I'd say scheme , uncertainty and lack of chemistry at the QB position is likely why he didn't get targeted. As far as Dennison, I have to disagree, I'm excited and optimistic he will utilize Sammy much better and showcase his talents. Yes D.T and Sanders dipped in production but you totally left out the part about the QB situation. Manning was a shell of himself physically in 2015 and he got Brock Osweiler a super pay day. Still with these 2 QB's ,DT had 105 rec and 1300 yards! Sanders had 76 rec and 1135 yards! I'd call that impressive considering who was slinging the pigskin... Jump to the 16 season and he had Siemian and Paxton Lynch who started 2 games. Both were first time starters and both were considered two of the worse qbs last year. Still , DT hauled in 90 rec for 1083 yards and Sanders had 79 rec for 1032 yards. Again, considering who was throwing the football, this was impressive imo. Taylor is a major upgrade over 2015 Manning ,Brock and Siemian. Our OL is also an upgrade. In 2014, Manning was playing at an MVP level, of course DT/Sanders production declined. Still Dennison got them heavily involved the last two years, with one of the worse QB situations in the league
  9. Does Willie have a history of concussions? He really got on National TV and said he believes Watkins will retire or be unable to play because of the foot at 26 years of age! Yet every report has been positive as far as his recovery has gone.. That is one of the most absurd statements I've heard in recent memory from a TV personality. After reading that, his credibility went so far out the window. He follows it up by claiming the "powers that be" in the Bills organization has told him of all people, some fairly negative comments about our 24 year old, # 1 WR. Thanks for this post, it's beyond ridiculous what was said. He needs a CTE scan immediately!
  10. I know it's a strong statement, I should have said one of the best ,which I think is an accurate and fair statement. Not many WR can locate the ball and maintain possession like Sammy when it comes to the deep ball, at least imo, what do you think?? And like many posters are saying, his major strength coming out of Clemson was taking a screen, slant , any short pass and killing a defense. Why Roman, Hackett and St Douglas Marrone didon't use him that way is mind boggling to me.. Dennison's scheme should give him plenty of targets within 5 yards of the L.O.S, and if he can come close to what we saw at Clemson, he'd be an absolute handful for CB's to deal with, and one of the more well rounded WR in the league.
  11. I believe it was 20 yard runs but possibly 20 yard offensive plays that we lead or were top 3 in the league. And with this new scheme, it can really be a handful, Taylor and shady running the ball are lethal. We add a weapon like Dimarco to that backfield and Dennison can get extremely creative. We have very unique talent and skillsets on O , making it very tough to prepare for and that's an advantage before the coin is even flipped
  12. Sounds ridiculous. I personally pay zero attention to most shows like this or pre game shows for a few years now. I'd rather hear some insight from members of this board any day of the week... Sammy might be the best WR in the league at tracking and hauling in the deep ball. He forces defenses to commit a Safety to help , that alone opens up an offense. It's been mind boggling that he rarely gets a screen or slant thrown his way and that should change this year under Dennison. His talent speaks for itself, he's an elite talent. Food for thought- 4/5 OL , Taylor , Shady, Clay and Sammy are now entering year 3 TOGETHER ... They should know each other's playing style like the back of their hand and will make adjusting to a new scheme that much easier. Also , Zay , if he lives up to the hype, is a better compliment to Watkin's than Woods was. This O can be explosive.
  13. As Bills fans, Gilmore has been one of the most heavily debated player since he got here. And the subject matter has always been "Is he elite?".. When we have an elite player, these debates don't happen , because that players film speaks for itself. Sammy,Dareus,McCoy for example will get debated about but it's "Can Sammy stay healthy?" He's consistently a stud when healthy. "Can Dareus stay out of trouble?" He's clearly dominant when on the field. "Is Shady past his prime?" He's clearly an elite RB.. So why is it year after year so many Bills fans have questioned whether Gilmore is an elite CB? Because he's not one! He shows flashes, but has been consistently inconsistent. Also, He avoids tackling at all costs and is the opposite of a leader... He got outplayed by a rookie 2 years ago and last year he was extremely inconsistent. I'm personally not offended at all by this tweet. But comparing him to Revis? Ppl calling him a top 15 cb? I just don't see it at all..I'm thrilled we didn't pay him. Hyde/White> Gilmore.. That extra TV time will only bring the debates we've been having to a national audience.. He's an above average CB, nothing special about him.
  14. The next Byrd situation? Dude got so overpaid , was consistently inconsistent and was horrendous at stopping the run and is the opposite of a Leader... I said this immediately after we picked White- he will be wayyyyy more beloved here, mainly because he will be an overall better cb,imo. Yes Gilmore has the "upside" they say but he's going into year 6, he's a vet, he has failed to reach that upside. Period. We've had endless debates about Gilmore, you don't have that many consistent debates if that player is elite and doing his job! Even the debates on Sammy aren't questioning his skills, it's his health. We all know he's elite. Wit Gilmore it was all about his skills, and again, you don't have those debates year in and year out about elite players. That TV time will only bring those debates to a larger audience, on a larger scale. And the consensus will agree he is extremely overrated. Good riddance
  15. You're reaching man. This can mean many things. It can mean he wears his heart on his sleeve , doesn't know why he continues to carry himself like that. I don't know what it means but judging by the picture and the 100 emoji it doesn't seem to be anything negative or any type of injury. Oh and he destroyed the Skins secondary there. We need 14 for 16 games. No doubt he'll put up elite numbers and hopefully remain a Bill. I thought it was lyrics , good catch. Yeah this was a super reach by the op
  16. Anyone remember I think Shefter or Polian talking about the pre draft interview process and said Teddy and EJ Manuel were two of the nicest, genuine QB''s he talked to in the last 10 years or something like that? Such a Shame. One of the very few non Bill qbs I rooted for.
  17. It's more a testament to how bi polar Rex's defense was. Looking back, that scheme was just a mess! There's definitely question marks back there but there's also a ton of potential and I feelthis staff will get this D to reach that potential
  18. Idk. I could see Shaq being a beast out the gate. There's a reason he was predicted to go top 10 in a draft with a lot of top end defensive talent. Has a lot of traits you can't coach up - size, power, hustle, maybe he lacks speed but he's got great instincts and is quick for a man his size, which makes up for the lack of speed many knock him for. He'll see plenty of 1 on 1 match ups and I can see him immediately having an impact, he's got the potential to be a beast in this scheme. Hopefully the shoulder was the main reason he fell and we end up with a steal.
  19. Yea that was a great read and has me excited about this offense. Dimarco could be a true impact player for this offense!
  20. Thanks for the post! "In the 15 games that LeSean McCoy, Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods and Charles Clay all played in, Taylor completed 64-percent of his passes for 3,362 yards, throwing 26 touchdowns and six interceptions. In the 14 games without either one of those players, those numbers dropped to a 61.2-percent completion rate, 2,697 passing yards with just 11 touchdowns and six interceptions." If we could stay healthier as well, this O could really be dangerous. Add in what should be a much improved and much much much more consistent defense as well and this could be one of the most feared offenses in the game. There's not too many players that could replicate a healthy Tyrod ,Shady and Sammy on a scout team so just preparing for this offense will be challenging
  21. Idk, players progress and I'm giving him a mulligan for last year. He has one helluva spin move and powe rushing ability from the DE position, at least in college. I personally see his game translating pretty well on this level, especially in a 4 man front,he can collapse that line on any given play, plays to the whistle and idk, to me his power+speed is impressive
  22. Yeah I LOVED that pickup from day 1, I feel he could turn into a star here. Remember he wasn't a full time starter because GB was loaded at S and had a rotation going on, even with limited playing time Hyde was a playmaker and leader out there, was always in at crucial moments in a game, and his versatility is off the charts. FS, SS , NICKEL CB, PR, KR. I agree with the poster you responded to but he's going to be such an upgrade over what we had last year and he's also a natural leader, going to be the leader of that secondary, and leader of the defense as a whole. He allows the DC to get extra creative because of his versatility. That GB defense is going to miss him big time.
  23. Glenn is definitely an elite LT And extremely valuable to the team but our line and offense didn't miss a beat without him... Which is more a testament to the line as a whole and coaching
  24. Taylor Shady Dareus (Feel he has a huge bounce back year and returns to dominating with being back in a 43. His dominance will make the rest of defense job that much easier.) Watkins Clay Hughes
