  1. Lol. Funny, I thought of Mckelvin too.. Mayock nailed it saying he has trouble locating the ball in air, which is true. Also said he has had an inconsistent career, I completely agree, his last 20 games with Buffalo were average at best. Has elite physical tools , which I agree but gotta locate that ball or them tools don't mean much.. Random thought about the game - Sammy's lil bro Jaylen (I think) Watkins can play CB
  2. Which will be in less than a month. The staple of this offensive passing attack will be play action , we were more vanilla on O than I expected which is why I am not worried about the O regressing. This O runs through Shady, who is a generational talent and looks great. Taylor is an elite runner , LB''s and S will consistently bite. Look at that Seattle game as a perfect example of what this O should resemble. We had that great D on their toes all game, on the road, because of our run game and PA. Dennison will put Taylor in favorable passing situations once the real games start. Play action will be a huge part of this attack. Clay and Shady will have a much bigger impact in passing situations. What we witnessed last night by the O will be night and day from what we see in September. And yes, this D is back. Forget the names, they look good as a whole, which is all that matters. They look disciplined, decisive and play fast. Tackling has also improved big time. Deep breath guys.
  3. Pre Season. Vanilla as it gets for our offense. Mark my words- Trod is going to do major damage running a lot of Play Action. For starters he's actually very good at disguising PA. With his elite running ability and Shady being amazing, LB and S bite, often. For reference - Turn on that Sea game, In Seattle, primetime, we killed them with the PA. Guys wide open all day. It's a staple of this scheme, and Zay,Q,Matthews,Streater and Holmes are light years ahead of 2016 Watkins, 2016 Woods, Glass Goodwin, and Hunter, Tate or Powell. Also definitely anticipate Clay and Shadys targets to increase a ton. Let's take a deep breath guys. Majority of DL are beating OL in first couple pretty season games. Like I said, what we saw tonight versus what we'll see in September is night and day. Not happy about the poor offensive showing but definitely not ready to hit the panic button.
  4. I'd bet a ton of $ that his numbers go way up in the 4th quarter. Better scheme. More reliable WR that will hold on to the ball in traffic. I recently watched some games from last year and his WR really failed him late in games, as well as his defense. Improved WR corp, improved D, better scheme fit (more play action, which is deadly with 2 elite runners in TT and Shady),will all equal a better Taylor this year. He has a unique skillet that if used right can make him a deadly QB. i think Dennison has a clear vision how to use Taylor in this way.
  5. Absolutely. I feel McB,Beane,Dennison realized Sammy is expendable because of Shady . I anticipate him used much more in the pass game and heavy PA, which last year, caused lbs and s almost always biting because they are so worried about Shady AND Taylor. There's really not much you can do to prepare for that combo leading up to the week. PA will be Taylors bread and butter, let our big targets sit in the open spots and move the chains. Shady is a rare player, top 10 on offense imo, would be extremely hard to replace his impact.
  6. Hasn't Leonard Johnson been running with the 1s in the slot? I know Seymour just came back but looks like Johnson has been very impressive
  7. Damn. They lost Tanny, their starting MLB and now Lippett. Just shows this tank talk is ridiculous. I made a post saying injuries is our main concern and if we stay healthy we can definitely compete in a weak afc... Besides Glenn whose a concern at this point and Matthews who is week to week we've been very good on injuries
  8. I agree. Shady is going to be our bell cow and a force in the pass game. Also feel we need Clay to step up and play at his potential
  9. Talent wise our cbs were better last year, though I think White will be a stud. But overall as a group I think the front 4 and secondary will be vastly improved based on scheme change. I went back n watched some "short cuts" with no commercials, of most our games last year and it was astonishing how out of position and clueless Gilmore and Co were, which caused huge chunks of yards in nearly every game. I don't expect that issue
  10. So we're judging our pass protection based on the first pre season game in a new system? With 4/5 starting OL going into year 3 together and an offensive passing game relying on quicker routes I just don't think that is fair.
  11. We have an elite run game, much improved WR Corp and the secondary is unknown. White looks like the real deal, our S are upgraded , McD has had a lot of luck turning no name cbs into household name's and with Shaq and Adolphus looking legit on that front 4, they could make our cb job much easier. Mainly I don't see a big gap between us and other AFC teams not named NE and Pitt and I'm a big believer in just getting in the playoffs and anything is possible
  12. That 1 thing is injuries, specifically multiple injuries to one position group.. The tank talk is ridiculous imo. We were very competitive last year with no steady WR production and probably the most bi polar D in the league. Taylor will be in a better scheme and have overall better talent around him than in the 16 season when we were 10th in scoring offense. Watkins was a non factor last year, he was throwing to guys just signed that week in many cases. The positive to no Sammy is it will open the offenses targets up. Q,Matthews,Clay and Shady have all proven to be dangerous in the pass game. Zay , by all accounts is looking to be a major contributor to this offense. I'm just not worried, based on what this O did last year. The biggest difference will be the D. Defenses can be a QB best friend and I am excited to see Taylor operate an offense with a defense that should actually help him for the first time in his starting career.
  13. And still had a top 10 scoring O. Think Beane and McD realized with an improved D and reliable WR, we can take a big step. Think they felt this O didn't need an elite WR to be more successful then last year. Instead of forcing to Watkins we have a bunch of reliable targets on any given play, including Clay, and added a 2nd and 3rd.
  14. Far superior imo.Watkins was basically nonexistent and a non factor. Woods was mediocre at best. Everybody else was below average. We now have Matthews , Zay and Boldin. Compared to our 16 WR production, they should be a Massive upgrade. Clay , Dimarco and Shady still. We had the 10th best scoring O, I've warmed up to this move honestly. We added serious ammunition for our future and didn't hamper our chances at contending this year. Still excited to see TT with a competent D as well, still think he can be our guy.
  15. Good fit for zone. Physical, great tackler, high energy, leader. Had a rough season coming off injury, just like Watkins.
  16. I agree OP. I think the D gets back on track, top 10 at least and the O was top 10 in scoring with Watkins missing most the year and playing on 1 foot when he was on field. This team still has a ton of potential imo
  17. Thanks for posting in a new thread. No sarcasm. I hate having to go through 20 30 pages to read something like this
  18. Heverything definitely has skills and is more than a deep threat, I just don't think he can ever last at this level unfortunately, because I'm really rooting for him, and hope I'm proven wrong. You just can't sneeze on him without him suffering an injury. Marquis Glass Goodwin is a more appropriate nickname
