I'm sure it was a joke after seeing the actual video, which is why I asked for more information before saying anything more. Joke or not, it's a tone deaf thing to say at best given our history with N Korea. Still, Skokols should have gotten the exact wording right. What he said to Brett Baier earlier in the week is indefensible, though. No need to address your gratuitous attempt to insult. It's what you do.
-
Thanks for the link. Still "sit up" at attention isn't what Skokols said; he said "stand up" which, imo, is different. It's important to get quotes exact as a changed word here or there can make a difference. Not to mention beg questions on a reporter's credibility. Don't get me wrong, it was a stupid thing to say, regardless; another example of his tone deafness. But I'm not as upset about that as I am about what he said in his FOX interview with Brett Baier earlier in the week.

This is important to understand. Strictly a civil law matter. The left needs to tone down any "criminal" rhetoric they may be tempted to spout.
-
I suspect this quote by Skokols may be out of context? I'll check it out when I get a chance.

This is troubling, if true. Especially after seeing that big mural of his face greeting the children being held in that detention center after being separated from their parents at the border. Did he really say that? Does Stokols attribute that quote to another source?

[Update: SIGNED!] When does Josh Allen Sign his contract
K-9 replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I look at the Spotrac estimates for the various players still unsigned which includes both QBs taken before him, as well as those that are signed already, I might give pause if I were Allen. Not saying he will or even that he should and I know rookie contracts are slotted, but there is considerable drop off between him and the other QBs and both Chubb and Nelson signed for decent chunks more than what his estimated contract value will be. And Nelson, being a guard, was selected just one spot before and he's at $2.5m more. I might wonder about that as a rookie QB compared to a rookie guard selected just one spot ahead of me. $2.5m is nothing to sneeze at. -
I appreciate the kind words and there are times l feel compelled to participate more often but that usually dissipates soon after the the usual devolution occurs and the insults ensue. There are other forums for me to share ideas that don’t resort to that level of discourse. So you will have to keep carrying the water of that intelligent, respectful, and well thought out discourse in the meantime. Something tells me you won’t have a problem with that at all.
-
All due respect, that is all supposition at this point. I’m struck by the contradiction between your respect for the rule of law and your willingness to accuse Rosenstein of breaking the law and pronouncing him guilty without due process.
-
Not at all. I was regularly participating in that thread and enjoying some of the viewpoints put forth, especially by DR. But that thread devolved into the usual partisan bickering with each side breathlessly pointing to every new article as “proof” of this or that when they aren’t proof of anything at this point and that’s just not important to me. I’m willing to listen to anyone about most anything, but until there is concrete evidence one way or the other, it’s just noise. It may be interesting noise and provide lots of grist for discussion, but I’m willing to wait until the investigation is over and the report is in. That’s when my beliefs will be changed one way or the other. This just isn’t something to get ahead of your skis on, especially in such a charged partisan environment. It’s cool that others can enjoy it though, don’t get me wrong.
-
Until I see the memo, I’ll stick to what I’ve seen. There may be legitimate reasons why he refuses to release it. From what I also see, there is a partisan faction in Congress that is fanning these flames. It will come out in the wash eventually, so I won’t listen to the rabble on the hill whose only motivation is to politicize events and defend the president. The law will reign supreme. It just takes a while at times. I can be patient. l’ve purposely avoided the Mueller thread and for good reason. Until it’s proved that Rosenstein, Mueller, et al have broken any laws, hell until they are even charged with breaking the law, I won’t listen to partisans trying to make political hay with conjecture based on partly knowns and unknowns. I shall leave you to your devices. Great job in aggragating all the excerpts from the IG report today. Lots of good food for thought there. And much appreciated.

Then change the mandate. I said a year ago this will start at A and end at Z because of the scope implied. If people don’t like that, they need to change it. Legally.
-
Yeah, not to sidetrack indeed. The letter is clear and until I see otherwise, that’s what I’ll take as his scope.
-
That may be true about Rosenstein, but the scope of Mueller’s mandate is clear and legal. Until it’s adjudicated differently, Mueller is not breaking any law. So yeah, I can cling to my belief with a clear conscience for now.
-
Read Rosenstein’s letter of appointment and you’ll clearly see Mueller has the authority to investigate any matters they may arise during the investigation as well as other matters within the scope of his mandate. It’s also worth noting that he was specifically charged with investigating “Russian interference with the 2016 Presidential Campaign and other matters.” Nowhere does it say he is limited to investigating “collusion.” Look, this is a thread for the IG report released toda and everything I’ve said about Mueller’s scope of authority, I’ve said a year ago in that thread.
-
I understand your anger given your political leanings, but I’ll have to wait and see what the next phase of the IG report brings. Emails and texts from FBI agents hating on Trump are a very bad optic for sure. But FBI agents or anyone else in public service aren’t precluded from having their own political views. What’s important to me is if those agents were SO motivated by their biases against Trump to act, what ACTIONS did they COMMIT and what DAMAGE to Trump was inflicted. The IG report doesn’t indicate that at this point. There will be other investigations and if it’s proved that FBI agents broke any actual laws you’re right, they should be dealt with to the fullest extent. Until then, the IG report says whatever people want it to say. But it’s important to remember that as of now, it doesn’t say anyone broke any laws.
-
No, it isn’t as other players and other activities have come to light since. For instance, Mueller was into his work for just a couple weeks when he hired several investigators with expertise in money laundering with particular experience in Eastern European banks and schemes.
-
Collusion in and of itself is not against the law and I said that a year ago. As for when Mueller began, colluding with Russia was just one plank of the investigation.
-
Very well stated. And we should all take a breath amidst the frenzy of spin around the IG report and remember that we ARE a nation of laws; laws that EXIST and not laws that we merely wish were on the books.
-
That’s not how I read that particular quote. Sounds to me like Comey didn’t want to conceal the material BEFORE she was elected so as to prevent questions about her legitimacy AFTERWARD. In this instance, I think he was right; there would have been a huge crap storm if, after the election, he suddenly announces that, oh by the way, we have reason to suspect there may be incriminating material on Weiner’s laptop but we decided to wait. The timing was bad, but he did the right thing by bringing the Weiner laptop info to light BEFORE the election, which LEGITIMIZES his action. Looking forward to to the next IG report. I think you have a good bead on some of the projected outcomes for some of these players.

I agree wholeheartedly. Is it your position that sometimes the demands of a job won’t put a person between a rock and a hard place? Maybe I’m being too simplistic.
-
Good point here. He was between the proverbial rock and a hard place at the time. No matter how he proceeded he was going to upset some political faction or another.
-
This is nothing new as everybody and their mother was saying he broke from normal protocol when he did it at the time in 2016. The FBI had always respected that time window relative to Election Day regarding the nominated candidates. He was lauded by the right for his courage at the time. How he managed to piss off both sides so readily is truly amazing.
