  1. Our front office is the worst front office in the history of the league and it makes the Browns look like the the Patriots*** by comparison. Just don't tell me Mahomes would be just as good in Buffalo as he is in KC. No !@#$ way.
  2. Yes, and? Nobody's arguing that here. McBeane could have done many things differently but that's kind of a moot point now. If you choose to wallow in wrong decisions, don't let me stop you. I just don't want anyone to tell me Mahomes would be just as good with our personnel as he is with the supporting cast he has in KC. Have you seen the plays his receivers have been making? Mahomes has been great, don't get me wrong, but we don't have anyone that can take a five yard crossing pattern and turn it into a 75 yard TD currently.
  3. Who the F is blindly following any staff here? For crissakes. People act as if Mahomes would be putting up the same stat line with our personnel as he is in KC. That's just a ridiculous take. I'm sure McBeane and Co. have screwed the pooch for this year seven ways to Sunday. That's not what I'm addressing though.
  4. Doesn't matter who "chose" it, Mahomes wouldn't be the same QB without the level of personnel he enjoys in KC. More power to him, the kid is phenomenal, but it ain't like he's playing with the Bills offense out there.
  5. Right, because Mahomes would have 10 TD passes in two games with this offense.
  6. A player in self-preservation mode in his contract year, another well past his best days, and a player with no love for the game who can’t get it together and is one mistake away from another season long suspension. Doesn’t sound better from where I sit.
  7. Spot on assessment of Namath and his impact. Another aspect people forget is that he called his own plays and his SB game was a thing of beauty. He had the Colts defense running seven ways to Sunday as he used Snell so effectively. It’s too bad he hurt his knee in college, too. He was a great athlete but was limited by those knee injuries throughout his career. And he was a tough as they came, too.
  8. 'Nuff said. Nobody on earth can make him love football. The first ingredient of football character is passion for the game. I don't want him anywhere near my favorite football team. Let somebody else buy his fool's gold.
  9. The USFL was considered anything but a joke as evidenced by the sheer number of great players absorbed by the NFL after it folded. Among them plenty of All Pros and several HOFers. And Kelly’s two years under Mouse Davis taught him how to read defenses and run spread offenses. In terms of readiness for the NFL, his time in the USFL gave him a head start. Kelly has alluded to that himself over the years. Add in Kelly’s work with Howard Schnellenberger in college and he was light years ahead where Allen is currently in terms of experience playing the position, the competition he faced, and his overall development as a QB. I agree with one thing; if Allen fails it will be because he’s just not up to the task.
  10. That’s one of several reasons why I don’t care for GOAT lists; it’s an exercise in futility to compare QBs across eras where different rules apply to each. Even QBs of the Kelly era played under liberalized rules compared to the greats before them. IMO, there were two significant changes that impacted the passing game the most: moving the hash marks in and outlawing bump and run coverage by defenders. Many of old time greats didn’t play with those advantages. I wonder what kind of numbers they could have amassed had they been able to. EDIT: I meant to add a third change to the list; allowing offensive lineman to extend their arms when blocking. Immediately improved pass protection.
  11. Well, he’s bigger than Kelly. Then again, the guys hitting him are bigger than the guys who hit Kelly.
  12. I like the concept and I think Allen could be up to the challenge, but I question everyone else around him, especially the OLine's ability to execute.
  13. Ravens look like a typical Thursday night road team.
  14. I agree he needs to get in, but I wouldn't say he revolutionized special teams as those positions had been well defined before he started playing and are still the same today. When I think of revolutionary players, I think of guys like Lawrence Taylor; guys who actually redefined their positions. But what he did do was play several of them BETTER than any one other player had ever done previously and since. Need a gunner, no problem. Need a return man for kickoffs and punts? Tasker's got you covered there as well. Or how about a guy to rush a kick or a punt when needed? Just put Steve in there. I don't recall any player, before or since, who played so many different special teams roles and played them all at such a high, game changing level. If special teams really are the critical phase coaches have been saying they are for years, then he needs to be in the HOF. That simple.
  15. I think I’m forgetting that SJ’s 2019 1st is lottery protected; if they miss the playoffs we would get their 2020 1st instead. So I’m guessing that their deal with Ottawa is NOT lottery protected and, if by some weird chance SJ doesn’t make the playoffs this year, then Ottawa gets that pick in 2019 and we would get their 1st in 2020.
  16. Why wouldn’t Buffalo have to agree to that? Buffalo’s compensation for Kane was clear if he re-signed with them: their 2019 first round pick and a conditional 2019 4th, which could be 3rd rounder in 2020. What am I missing here?
  17. You make a great point about pad level and leverage, but it has less to do with height than it does technique. There have been some great taller centers over the years. Our best one ever, Kent Hull, was also 6’5”, for instance.
  18. Regardless of what they have planned for Allen passing wise, if we can’t run the ball it won’t matter.
  19. Be fair all you like. But technically and according to official stats as compiled and maintained by the league, the Bills don’t have the worst defense in the league as has been asserted.
  20. I’m talking this past opening weekend. On Sunday, New Orleans gave up 48 points AT HOME to Fitz and Tampa Bay. On Monday, Detroit also gave up 48 points AT HOME, too. So, two teams gave up more points than Buffalo on opening day this season. We suck, but we are not the worst as has been asserted.
  21. Embarrassing, yes. Still, not the worst though. Two other teams gave up more points on opening day. Two teams playing on their home fields to boot.
  22. I don’t disagree, necessarily, but that doesn’t make them the worst.
  23. By what relevant statistical measure is the Bills defense the "worst in the NFL?"
  24. I haven't read all of your posts, so if I'm missing context, I understand. I appreciate the clarification. But "showing enough" is an abstract concept as it means many different things to different people. Especially coaches and teammates who understand what he's showing on a different contextual level. I don't think one season will be enough to answer the question on him, but if there's a QB rated higher than Allen coming out next year, I'd consider him. At the very least as a bargaining chip for teams looking to trade up for a QB. But Bosa's and Oliver's early evaluations suggest they are light years ahead as prospects vs. any QBs currently expected to come out. I'm not sure I'd pass up blue chip talent at premium positions to take a flyer on a QB prospect already not considered as good a prospect as Allen was coming out. I understand the thinking though.
  25. What did I miss? You said he had to show enough before the draft next year. Doesn’t that mean this season? I’m just saying if that’s the case and given his poor supporting cast, especially up front, you may need to temper your expectation of what showing enough means. If you care to expand on what showing enough means, I’d be interested to know your take on it.
