NYC politician wants Bills+Giants to adopt Jets Anthem policy
K-9 replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can appreciate the owners being worried about the perception of disrespecting the fan base, but they walk a fine line because I can also appreciate them not wanting to offend a large percentage of their employees as well by not respecting their concerns over the issues at the center of their protest. -

Regarding the notion that standing = patriotism, members of white supremecist groups stand and salute our flag at their rallies. Should we consider them “patriots” as well? -

Always appreciate a Groucho Marx reference. But I gotta ask, just how does an elephant get in your pajamas? -
Yep. Pre Marv, it’s Saban and Knox and absolutely nobody else. End of story.

Sheesh indeed! UB was a small, private school with an international reputation as a medical school and not long after, a law school. A fine school. And since you were shouting, let me again say, I ONLY MENTIONED UB TO POINT OUT IT WAS SIMPLY OLDER AS AN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION! SORRY YOU FELT IT NECESSARY TO MAKE THE ASSUMPTION I WAS COMPARING EVERYTHING ABOUT UB TO BERKELEY! AS IF ANYONE SHOULD DO THAT!

We’ve had a number of rank kickers, so it’s really hard to say who was the worst.

Who will insist on making it a wedge issue leading up to the midterms? You watch, he won’t waste any time calling out players who choose to stay in the locker room. -

You mean so he would “know” what advertisers to avoid? I hadn’t thought of that but it’s a good question. But some of those companies, like P&G for example, are so vast and have holdings in so many other companies that it’s nearly impossible to avoid buying their products at times. Can they act like many of the drunken nimrods in the stands? -

I said the same thing In the last anthem thread; that staying in the locker room will eventually be considered a bigger affront than taking a knee. You bring that point home by suggesting it will be Trump who will help make that happen. It’s a wedge issue and he will continue to exploit it as long as he can. -

That’s amazing. It’s difficult to avoid buying the products of NFL advertisers. Proctor and Gamble, for instance, stocks stores with such a varied array of products it would be hard not to buy at least one of them by accident. Props for avoiding Mickey Ds that stuff will kill ya. -

That’s true dedication. In addition to canceling Sunday ticket and not buying tickets, etc., did you also not buy a single product advertised during NFL telecasts? -
Emotional rant? Again? Lol. Your sad, Raptor-fan LeBron envy has you confusing me with someone else. But I understand. It’s your M.O. to tell people how they should or shouldn’t feel as well as to let everyone know when it’s time to drop a subject. Yeah, I fully understand the nature of how calls are made in sports; good and bad. Imo, last night’s call was bad. I will “rant” if I choose to. I suggest you simply ignore it.

Just about any CJ Spiller run late in a half or game. -
It’s a judgement call. Can you point me to the section of the rule book that says “the defender must take it clean in the chest after establishing position?”
-
I don’t torture myself in the least. You shouldn’t concern yourself so much.

I agree that the on air official couldn’t be more irrelevant, but Steve Javie’s opinion is far more informed than most. The refs needed to see if LeBron was in the restricted area, so I understand the need to review the play in that regard. But the judgement call on the blocking foul went too far and the original call shlould have stood. If it weren’t in the last two minutes the refs would have been precluded from doing so in the first place. As much of a bullschit call as can be.

His foot moving is irrelevant if he established a legal guarding position which is why everybody, including the on air NBA official, thought the call should have stood. Cleveland got jobbed on that call.

Two things strike me after watching this video: 1.) I suspect Josh Allen is very well suited for this type of scheme. 2.) Brian Baldinger’s right pinky was botched during reattachment. -
