How to Watch NFL Game Film: Micah Hyde INT vs Atlanta
K-9 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s mind boggling the degree to which things are broken down, bordering on obsessive. Quite agree about QC guys. Lots of long days spent aggregating and catalogueing info compiled by others’ own video breakdowns as well as their own. That would be another good story to hear, too; a “day in the life of” kind of thing. -
How to Watch NFL Game Film: Micah Hyde INT vs Atlanta

Great stuff Yolo, thanks for posting. For amateurs, I agree, it’s s nice “how to” in terms of some things to key on when we look at game video. I hope some day a head coach, position coach, or scout, etc., will put together a tutorial on how they break it down. It’s a fascinating and entirely different animal and I think that perspective would be interesting to know more about. -
Appreciate the clarification.

Tom, I’ve always appreciated your clinical diagnoses on this and other mental impairments, but a disconnect from the truth on such a frequent basis (over 3,000 half truths or outright falsehoods and counting since he took office), no matter the psychological reason behind it, is not something that can be so readily excused for the person holding this office. “Random nonsense” comes in many forms; UNTRUE random nonsense spewed with such frequent regularity, often with the intent to mislead and deflect, is not something that should be viewed as a “he can’t help it because he’s sick” affliction. It deserves no sympathy.

Guessing sarcasm, but just in case, I don’t agree with that at all. Veterans and everybody else are free to feel any way they want about the issue.

Again, you misunderstand where my animosity lies. Has nothing to do with the N Korean people. And, as I said, it’s a positive that we are AGAIN seeking to establish better relations. My entire dissatisfaction lies in what the president said yesterday morning. Period. Have someone else explain to you the false equivalency you draw between N Korea and the other countries you cited and WHY. The rest of your post simply isn’t worth responding to.
-
No. And I’m not going to get into the weeds explaining why the four countries you listed are totally false equivalencies. Besides, my issue isn’t the relationship we are trying to establish with a country we are still technically at war with, that’s a positive thing. it’s the rhetoric our president sought fit to use while “joking” about how he wished he had the same level of respect from his people as that of a murderous dictator. Hope that clarifies it. I’ve got nothing more to add on the subject.

Not sure about Obama, but there are photos and videos of G Dubbya and the king of Saudi Arabia kissing and walking hand in hand together.
-
Yes. And it also includes kissing and holding hands.

Appreciate the class. Unlike others in this space who don't know what it is let alone possess any of it.

May not end up being the ultimate target as that remains to be seen, but if the investigation ends up proving that Manafort was the person in the Trump campaign that had shady dealings with Russians and other players, that's a worthwhile conclusion. Even from the little we know at this time, his associations with those close to the Kremlin certainly beg questions worth seeking answers to, imo. As much as the media and those on both the left and right insist this has always been about Trump, the charge given was to investigate the Trump campaign and certainly Manafort was the face of it for a time in the summer of '16.

Did you or did you not take the position that the whole problem was liberals just looking to be offended by something Trump said? Does that not suggest my offense to his remarks wasn't legitimate? And you do it again in this post: "Pointing out that it's silly to get offended by so little" when what he said today may not be considered "little" in the least by others and certainly not me. As to my statement about not getting to be the arbitrators of what's offensive and what's not, that was a summation point; not an accusation about a position you didn't take. But I can see how my words may have been misconstrued. Apologies. Hope that clears it up for you.
-
Not a straw man in the least. You said the whole problem was liberals just wanting to find something to be offended by, including Trump's morning bowel movement, iirc. That suggests you can't see how it's possible for someone to be offended otherwise. Know what else doesn't last long around here? Pretending you didn't suggest something just because you didn't use precise words when the words you did use suggest the very thing you claim you never said. I agree with the culture of feigned outrage especially as it serves to dilute and undercut legitimate claims. But you and I don't get to arbitrate who can be offended by what. I find it ironic that in itself seems to offend you.
-
You got that right. Fortunately, most of what he says goes in one ear and out the other but occasionally he will utter something I find personally offensive, like this morning. He managed to denigrate those who gave the ultimate sacrifice fighting against the kind of murderous regime he found so laudable in his "joke" this morning.
-
In that case, he should be faulted for it. Like I said, it's my understanding the etiquette is based on the circumstance, including country and who is doing the saluting. Allies are one thing, enemies another, etc. In the case of N Korea, it's easy to see why he was advised not to. But, stupid is as stupid does as they say.
-
While that's open to debate as circumstance dictates, Trump probably erred on the side of caution by returning the salute. Hard to fault him for that.
-
Well, these veterans fought in Korea, so they feel differently. Nice job with the snarky insults to those veterans. I'll let them know they have such thin skin.
-
While there is certainly some truth to the idea that people are looking to be offended and will be simply for that reason alone, the phenomenon cuts both ways as there is no shortage of those on the right who always have their antennae up and ready to find offense. But I can't speak for why anyone else who may be offended. I've stated why I'm offended as have the veterans in my family. If you and others can't see how that's possible, it's no skin off my back and we certainly don't have to qualify that viewpoint to anyone thinking it's just more liberal outrage.

Political And Racial Agendas Ruining Sports
K-9 replied to Like A Mofo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Thanks again for your insight. And as I alluded to previously, your mom sounds like an extraordinary person. She should write a book for all the wisdom and fortitude she holds. While this issue is predominant in the black communities you've described, it isn't a problem reserved solely for them. It rears it's head in poor white communities as well. I am in no way making a false equivalency vis a vis the struggles of one group vs. that of another. I suspect that economic standing is a common denominator is all. Thanks again for your insights. -
Yes, he was joking, which was obvious after watching the video. But is it so hard to understand why some may not find it remotely funny or even be offended by his "joke?" My people didn't fight and die in Korea so that our president, our commander in chief, can make a joke about wanting his people to behave in the same brainwashed way as N Korea's murderous dictator's people behave for him. A murderous dictator whom we are still technically at war with, by the way. So sure, go ahead and bring the snark and hurl the insults at those who didn't find it funny. Others have good reason to take issue with those words.
