As a going on 60 year old fan myself, I understand. But if not patience, what then? Other than no longer supporting the team in ANY way, shape, or form, what alternatives to fans have other than patience? Ranting, raving, storming the bastile with our pitchforks? Seriously, what other choice to fans have other than patience if they aren’t willing to stop supporting the team?

Of course they own it now. Never implied otherwise. And they’ve certinaly made some questionable decisions along the way. Feel free to blame them for everything that’s occurred over the last four years as it’s all on their watch. My only point is that when we, as fans, lament two decades of futility, it’s important to remember they are only a small portion of that time span. Perhaps it’s my experience with far more trying times I’ve experienced with this franchise that gives me that perspective. For instance, if you want to talk futility, how’s this: For the 25 year period from 1960 through 1984, the Buffalo Bills owned the worst winning percentage of ANY team in ANY of the four major professional sports leagues in America. Talk about futility indeed! When I compare that winning percentage with that of the team since the Pegulas took over? Let’s just say they have to fall far, far lower.

Total fluke of the playoff formula to be sure. Never thought otherwise. But I’m also not disingenuous enough to totally dismiss the 9-7 record it took to be in that position in the first place. Feel free to put an asterisk next to it if it makes you feel better. The Pegulas should have declined the playoff birth instead. It would have been the honorable thing to do.

It has nothing to do with fans being impatient. Like I said previously, I’m not disagreeing with your larger point about fans and their impatience. You mentioned 2 decades of futility. I merely pointed out that the Pegulas and current administration own a small fraction of those two decades and that a portion of that small fraction ended 17 years of the playoff futility that fans have suffered through. You made a point. I agreed with it and sought to add some context. Nothing more. No need to argue it further.

Yeah, 20% of it. But I could have sworn that one fourth of their 20% resulted in ending the playoff drought.

Agreed it’s overuse, which is why I also mentioned those 95 mile an hour fastballs thrown on a regular basis. I have always understood that the mechanics of a curve stress the arm in unique ways. If there is a new paradigm relative to that, I’m grateful for your clarification. I’ll look forward to reading the Times article you linked. Thanks.

You’re arguing with yourself on a point you needed to stretch in order to do so. Enjoy.

Many fans lump the Pegulas and current administration in with the nearly two decades of futility you mentioned. I was just offering clarification for those fans. I’m not arguing your larger point.

No, that’s not even remotely what I mean. I was referring to the nearly two decades of playoff futility that alluded to by the poster I was responding to.

I get what you’re saying, but the Pegulas and current football administration had nothing to do with the vast majority of those two decades. We as fans can make the link, but that’s where it ends. It’s only been four plus years under the Pegulas, one of which ended in the playoffs.

I think throwing a curve ball stresses the arm in ways that QBs never experience, not to mention 95 mph fastballs on a regular basis. For that reason I think pitchers have much more wear and tear on than arms compared to QBs. I don’t think the same can be said about shortstops, though. Yes, they have many more reps, but QBs are throwing an object 3x heavier and I think that needs to be considered as well.

Like I just said to C.Biscuit, Rodgers is the best and I love watching him do his thing. I just can’t stand this announcing crew. They are the worst at any level. Especially Wittless, I mean Witten. -

Too funny. This announcing crew, especially Wittless, want so much to slobber Rodgers’s scrote, but the 49ers just wont let them.
