  1. I’ll have what he’s having.
  2. Yes, because the world is littered with ex football czars who lead NFL teams to greatness. Just too many examples to list. Need a czar, call William Mattar.
  3. Well, that’s kind of critical to the point the article tries to make. Until I know when and in what situations White, Hyde, Gaines, etc. were taken out, it’s just more analysis in a vacuum.
  4. When did the “tinkering” take place? I’d like to know when these players started seeing less snaps than usual. If it was when the game was out of hand, then it would make sense that certain, key players were taken off the field in favor of getting them some rest and other players some experience.
  5. Me and the girls enjoy the game playing in the background as we do our quilting.
  6. It’s all I can do to resist sticking red hot skewers into both my ears.
  7. Eli had OBJ on that fourth down play. Almost as if he refused to throw it to him. Is there bad blood between those two?
  8. And Knoll. Don Shula. And Parcells. But to answer your question, you can’t. It’s totally illogical to think otherwise. All the great defensive minds have spent thousands of hours breaking down offensive schmes. All the great offensive minds have spen thousands of hours breaking down defensive schemes. They are more than intimately familiar with the philosophies of the other side of the ball.
  9. No disrespect to the OP, but what is the point of wondering about/imagining an alternate reality?
  10. Fugly.
  11. Too bad indeed. I could make a fortune selling my pee to Irsay.
  12. Mitts is going to go off and when he does, watch out. Tomorrow’s practice is key. I believe it’s a tendency for younger players to relax a bit after an impressive couple of games on a road trip. You’re home, have a day off, get to read some positive clippings for a change. Yep, life is good. Bullhockey! Back in the day, Drury and Briere would lead a grueling practice after that kind of small success. All the time. Until hard practices became the accepted routine by everybody, win or lose, or else. Kyle “I should have said something” Okposo and Jack “I’m only 21” Eichel need to be emphatic that tomorrow’s practice is sharp and, if not, be assertive in getting the message across. If I’m Housley, I’ve already conveyed that to team leadership. Young players also also have a tendency to believe that it’s only October and it’s a long season. But this is when you bank the points. I can remember Drury tossing a boom box out of the locker room after an October loss. He never accepted complacency, early in the year or not. Our team csptsins need to be the same way. And it starts with their example.
  13. Gordon should thank Edelman.
  14. We have got to stop using every other rookie’s games as an indictment on Allen, good or bad.
  15. This could be that crucible moment we look back on to pinpoint when it all changed for this team. As you alluded to, we dominated play for nearly two whole minutes in their zone, making line changes while doing so, and totally wearing them out; complete domination. Only to see them get a lucky, clean break out to send a man in alone on Hutton and score. Previous teams would have been devastated and I was sure the Sabres wold fold and the Ducks would go on to score that all important “next goal” in a 2-0 game. The Sabres responded like a winner. I want want so much to believe we’ve turned a corner. Thursday vs. a surprising Montreal team with a great goalie will tell us much. Will they come out flat like so many teams playing their first game at home after a long road trip or will they carry the play like last night. Even is Price stones them, if I see the style of play I saw last night, I will have been ok with it. Get ‘em ready, Phil.
  16. I don’t think MNF agains the Pats*** would be too big for him as he strikes me as that type of player who thrives on those big time moments on the national stage.
  17. The play Eichel made to start the Skinner goal was amazing. Elite vision and awareness.
  18. Helluva win. Housley's next test is having them ready to go on Thursday and we all know how those first home games are after an extended road trip. Give 'em tomorrow off and bag skate 'em on Tuesday to get them focused. That's three games in a row Eichel showed up to play. He wasn't rewarded in San Jose because nobody else decided to join him, but he's been on his game. As he goes, the team follows. He simply cannot take any nights off. He can have a bad game, but it can't be because his effort isn't there. Prediction: when Mitts scores his first, lookout. He's thisclose to breaking out. He needs to stay patient and not get frustrated.
  19. Very concerning indeed to say the least. I'll tip my hat to Luck who played an outstanding game, but our defense disappeared early and ran for the bus late.
  20. Depends on who else is there when we pick, but yeah, if there's nobody higher rated, we would be stupid not to take him.
  21. Their best game of the year to this point. By far. Their trademark fragility didn't rear its ugly head after they went down 2-0 and they didn't get frustrated after hitting a few posts tonight. Instead, they stuck with the hard work, physical play, and were able to tie it up. I hope we're seeing the birth of our new identity. And for that, I'll give Housley some credit.
  22. “I need a mentor.”
  23. A most offensive defensive performance.
  24. Not sure about mercurial as I was being totally facetious. And yeah, I think today had more to do with who we played more than anything. Kings are one of the few teams slower than us, but we took advantage, so I give that credit. We. Need. Secondary. Scoring. Glad you mentioned goaltending. Perhaps not so much today, but it’s been the sole difference in all our other victories. Big test tomorrow. Both teams playing back to backs and we don’t have to travel, while Ducks have to fly from Vegas. It will be more of a barometer for me regarding Housley. I don’t have high hopes. But that’s the Pavlov dog in me.
  25. Nice win, much needed. Still have concerns. We can’t depend on a fluke goal by a defensemen to suffice as our only source of secondary scoring. Once again, if Eichel’s line isn’t carrying the mail, we don’t have a decent chance to win. That has got to change. That said, I like what Mitts is doing and it’s only a matter of time for him. Kings may be even slower on their skates than the Sabres and it was nice we took advantage. OK, Phil. You had them ready from puck drop. Have them ready tomorrow as well and I may lengthen your leash a link or two.
