  1. I’d have felt the same way about Gronk. But cheering retribution for a cheap shot that concussed your own teammate is a completely different animal than cheering an injury to an opponent that occurs during the normal course of a game.
  2. Sad commentary, that.
  3. Nothing wrong with cheering a good hit. But Brady wasn’t injured on that play. Got right back up and ended up beating us in OT. If anything, it pissed him off.
  4. The clueless a-holes would. Anyone with the slightest bit of respect for the game wouldn’t.
  5. NBC isn’t a major network?
  6. Investing in negative outcomes is the safest route, psychologically.
  7. It’s funny how Gruden and Davis resemble each other in a way.
  8. Outs and slants are two routine throws that Allen needs to show a command of so I’m OK with the detail as described. For now. He might be hitting the preside harmonic to have it whistling Dixie before long. As long as he doesn’t ever use that Leftwich windmill of a windup, I’m ok his name being used.
  9. It’s other worldly. I thought I’d never see anything like Jimmy Harris in person ever again and then I was down on the field to actually hear the ball whistle out of Elway’s hand and Harris’s stature went down a notch in my mind. I haven’t been that close to an Allen display, but stuff I’ve heard from people that have say it whistles just like Elway when he lets it rip. And his release is quick on top of that. I think we might be witnessing a stronger arm than Elway. Never thought I’d say that.
  10. Love hearing about these short, quick completions.
  11. Total accident! I kinda knew what I wanted to say, but couldn’t execute it worth a damn!
  12. I’m not bothered in the least. Just trying to add some insight. Per the bold text, I took it from your post that said I was “inaccurate” about JO’s cap management role, that your were indeed seeing things differently than me. Anyway: The GM and coach determine who to retain or not so we agree on that. The market largely determines how much a player is paid, but the Bills, like all teams, have a budgetary frame work with which to work within. That doesn’t mean they won’t overpay a player they highly value, either. And again, it’s all done while looking several years ahead. It’s also a collaborative process within the administration. The cap manager determines various compensation strategies for each contract to mitigate cap concerns, also looking several years ahead. And again, it makes sense to have your chief contract negotiator in that role.
  13. I know what I know, what can I say? I get that this is an anonymous Internet forum and people range from being completely full of crap to knowing with 100% certainty what they’re talking about, so I can understand you’re not taking my word for it and I’m cool with that. There is a big difference between control over spending on players and control over how to structure a contract to mitigate cap impacts. It’s a dynamic, fluid process that looks several years into the future.
  14. Per the bold, this is inaccurate. JO has been our cap guru since 2008, when he was promoted to a senior VP position. And it makes sense to have your chief contract negotiator in that role since the two elements are so closely related. Given Beane’s own cap management experience in Carolina, I was surprised Overdorf remained in that role when he was hired, but he has, which indicates he is still highly valued in that regard.
  15. Cheering an injury of an opposing player is wrong. Period. If anyone in this forum doesn’t understand that, they’re a clueless ass. Toronto is one of the great cities of the world. Period. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive.
  16. Tannehill and Darnold shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence. That goes without saying. But that’s not the point. The point is It remains to be seen whether Gase can perform his supposed “guru” magic with Darnold that he hasn’t with anyone else to this point.
  17. He got a good year out of him when he was in Chicago in 2015, but he wasn't the first coach to get something out of Cutler. He had a decent year with Shanahan in Denver long before that. Went to a Pro Bowl, anyway. Not that that means all that much anymore.
  18. Much of what Tebow did was newsworthy, absolutely. But none of that qualifies Gase as a QB guru as evidenced by his short shelf life and subsequent fading away. And staying out of Manning’s way certainly doesn’t, either. Gase has designed some interesting pass schemes. But like all schemes, they need a good QB and supporting cast to execute. Tannehill and co. certainly weren’t up to the task. Remains to be seen if Darnold and his supporting cast are up to the task.
  19. Me, too. I think it was coaching up Tebow to get anything out of him before the league saw enough video of him and he crashed as well as being smart enough to stay the hell out of Manning’s way. Might throw Kitna in there, too. But it ain’t much to hang your hat on.
  20. I’m glad he’s a stute. We need more stutes in this world. I feel the same way about lerts, too. It’s good to be a lert.
  21. Yep. Like Lindy always said back in the day, “Roll four!”
  22. He is their cap guru and chief contract negotiator.
  23. I had little problem with his coverage effort and I can appreciate not getting safety help when it was supposed to be there. Some fans can't distinguish certain responsibilities in certain coverage schemes and so they often blame the last defender closest to the receiver, but I'm not one of them. The play where he was pointing fingers while the receiver that ran past him and was still running towards the endzone was clearly not his fault. So, while I understand his frustration, how he chose to display it was classless. The lack of effort I'm talking about is shying away from contact and giving up easy yards as a result. He was all about avoiding injury in his contract year. Especially earlier in the season. That contributed to some friction in the room, too, as I understand it. Anyway, as a new coach coming in and reviewing the tape, I can understand why McDermott formed the opinions he did. If my sole impression of Gilmore was his '16 game tape, I'd have serious questions, too. When a player that good doesn't always show full effort, it's glaring.
