John Warrow’s High Praise For Beane & McDermott Regime
K-9 replied to BillyWhiteShows's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I know is none of your miserable business. And it wouldn’t add to much here, anyway. Time for you to trot out your usual song and dance about your decades long bonafides as a fan that never misses a tailgate and how your are loved and adored by all those who know you personally, then sprinkle in a name drop or two for character reference. You do that every time somebody calls you on the bull crap you continually spew in threads where you have disagreements that inevitably lead to you insulting someone and they choose to call you on your bullcrap. You are clockwork in that regard; as predictable as a Rich Kotite offense. It would be laughable if it wasn’t so pitiful. For the last time, stick to your football only takes. It’s your only saving grace around here as you know what you’re talking about in that vein. But your off field game needs a lot work. Starting with the ability to engage people in an honest way without resorting to your bag of insults, condescending blathering, and constant moving of the goal posts when the previous point you were trying to make gets corrected and answered. -

Doubling down on your doucheness I see. Perhaps the most ignorant take I’ve seen in my 21 years of participating in this community. Had you taken the time to better acquaint yourself with JW’s work over the years, you’d know your classless attack on his professionalism was as far out of line as it gets; just a completely baseless claim. Somehow I doubt you have the stuff to make the effort to educate yourself on the subject though. You owe JW an apology and if I had the power to do so, I’d ban your ineffectual ass until you do so. -
I gotta believe if he’s there and Turcotte is gone as expected, he’s gonna be our pick. Somebody in the twitterverse (I forget who) suggested we might be trying to trade up for Turcotte. While I wouldn’t be against that, depending on the nature of the deal, I’d be surprised if JBotts moved up knowing he’s gonna get a good player at 7 regardless.

Yep. And I suspect Binnington is feeling the pressure to respond in a big way. I think his clock may have struck midnight.

Yeah, that’s what concerns me most. Three in a relatively short period of time is worrisome as each time you sustain one, the next one is easier to sustain and with less force required to do so. I’m hoping he will be closely monitored. -

It’s a concern, no doubt about it. -

I admire your restraint. Had I seen his post earlier, I would have lost it and I’m not even the one whose professionalism he insulted. Anyway, as others have said over the years, thanks for taking the time to visit and share some thoughts in this forum now and again. -

Ironically, you may be one of the few who could actually pull it off. If you hired the right people around you, that is! -

I liked him, too. He’s a winner. Although I understood the concerns about him. To your point about controlling the roster, we are all in the same boat. Which is why it’s kind of futile for some to act like they ARE paid to shape and control NFL rosters. -

I don’t think they have to defend it if they honestly felt that better options were going to be available in 2018. Especially against arguments based on hindsight for the most part. Hindsight is a luxury they can’t have. If you were one of the few pounding the table for Mahomes or Watson BEFORE that draft, more power to you. -

Doesn’t the concept of “it was not the only way” apply to most decisions? Especially where team sports management is concerned? Of course there were other options and strategies. Goes without saying. They chose this path. Why some, not you specifically, choose to wallow in it being the wrong choice when it hasn’t been determined yet, simply because they don’t agree with it, is beyond me. Bills management had a choice. So do the fans. -

I appreciate your larger point, but all those babies getting tossed with the bath water are superfluous given who the QB was at the time. TT is not good enough to have taken those babies to the promised land. And I contend that Watson and Mahomes, great as they are, would not have come close to the same success in Buffalo as quickly, either. I get why people would like to think so, but their respective experiences occurred under completely different circumstances, with different coaches, and different supporting casts. But it’s easy to imagine they’d have thrived as well here, so I get why people make the argument. Until McBeane deliver on the strategy undertaken, they will have to suffer comparisons to previous regimes, etc. Goes with the territory. Lucky for us, they aren’t afraid of the challenge. -

Where do you find this crap? Seriously. Can you not see the difference between Andy Reid developing a rookie into a second year stud QB and Sean McDermott? There is a difference between praising Reid and knocking McDermott. Betcha Reid wouldn’t mind having our defense, though. See what I did there? I look forward to reading all those posts of yours prior to the ‘17 free agency and draft periods outlining the precise strategy you find so easy to do in hindsight. -

High praise coming from the master himself. I’ll stick by it though, as I’m not persuaded in the least by arguments that rely entirely on hindsight and unprovable assumptions that rookies drafted by other teams would have performed as well in Buffalo. Or that our supporting casts would have offered the exact same advantages. Feel free to show me all your posts prior to the ‘18 free agent season and draft period that outline all the moves you suggest we should have made instead. I might be persuaded by them. -
Allen and Daboll talking play calling

Yep. Jimbo and Marchibroda has it paired down to about a dozen plays (with variations) by the time that offense really started humming. It all boils down to superior talent anyway. Heck, Kelly could have told opposing defenses what was coming and still would have been successful. We were that talented on offense. Today, everyone and his mother knows Brady is gonna look for Edelman on third down first and foremost and damned if he doesn’t convert most of the time. -

Yes. And I’ll stand by that. Who else was gonna take us there if not TT? Rookies like Mahomes or Watson? Do you honestly not see a regression there in the short term, anyway? And with what receivers? A perennially injured Sammy? A player who was never gonna re-sign in Woods when he preferred to return home and didn’t like TT as his QB to boot? I just don’t buy it. Anyway, I’m sorry if I offended those who were against the rebuild and how they went about it. And I’ll not add more to the now beaten dead horse. Onward and upward. -

True. And given how Mahomes turned out his second year, it’s understandable, regardless of the hindsight needed to bolster that position. There were some around here pounding the table for him at the time, but not many. I think McDermott and then Bean had their sights set on the 2018 QB class the entire time and they were hell bent on executing a plan to snag one. Also, does Mahomes have the same early success in Buffalo as opposed to KC? Without the wizardry of Reid and the stable of superior receiving threats? That’s one helluvan extrapolation imo. -

That would have required McDermott/Whaley being on board with Mahomes as a can’t miss prospect. They weren’t. Hindsight shows they are wrong, but we don’t have the luxury of hindsight when making some decisions. I suspect McDermott took one look at Gilmore going into self preservation mode and/or pointing fingers at teammates as a wideout pranced into the end zone to know he didn’t want him. And Gilmore was only gonna stay if we grossly overpaid. Glad we didn’t. But I don’t want to re-litigate that whole situation.
