Bills secondary left out of top-tier mention
K-9 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really appreciate the breakdown as it points to some weak areas on our team, particularly the ineptitude of our offense as they afforded teams too much opportunity to play with leads and have the luxury of running the ball more. But that's another discussion. But yeah, the run defense was weaker than it should have been. As to the pass defense stats, I think what I posted earlier bears repeating: passing yards given up is NOT the meaningful stat; ypa and QB passer rating against are the two that matter most. We finished tied for 1st in ypa against and finished 3rd in passer rating against (Bears, Ravens). Anybody analyzing the strength of passing defense needs to look at those numbers first and foremost. It says a lot about the authors of that FOX Sports poll that they didn't. Shoddy research. At best. -

Op/Ed is journalism. Just like investigative, special features, politics, and everything else under that umbrella. Even a cursory examination of the pass defense stats suggests they were lazy in not mentioning the third best overall pass defense in the league last year. I could give two schits if any writer criticizes the Bills, warranted or not. But I have a low tolerance for laziness. -

That would explain the low yards per game, but as I said above, they are elite in the ypa and passer rating allowed stats, too. We get any kind of pass rush to complement them, our secondary could be dominant. -

Yards per game isn’t the most telling pass defense stat but, that said, the Bills were more than respectable in the two most key pass defense stats: yards per attempt and passer rating allowed. Tied for first in the league in the former and place third overall in the latter. It is journalistic dereliction of duty not to include the Bills in the top three over all, let alone top five. Just lazy work by FOX Sports. -

Maybe she wanted Cersei to suffer at the sight of the total destruction of King’s Landing before zeroing in on the Red Keep? And she certainly got around to the Red Keep. And it’s not like this was the first time she chose fear over love. As to what if the exits weren’t blocked and she and Jaime might have escaped otherwise? There is just no need to overthink it to that extent. -

Stands to reason in the science denial era we live in today. I wonder how many of that 56% are also flat Earthers. -

And only one of them is ice and fire. -
So Krueger is in town in April and covertly goes to various pubs to watch playoff hockey with fans and chats them up about the Sabres so he can get a sense of their passion for the team, etc. AFAIC, that is one helluva good first impression. On another note, JBotts should sign the goalie playing for Great Britain at the IIHF World tourney if he isn’t already by some other team. He’s phenomenal.

Was there any inkling this was coming? Any sign at all? -
Lucky for them they were never in a game that lasted more than four hours.

If so, they better put a glove on that hand. God only knows where that hand has been. -

Seems we lost another good one when good ones are needed the most. Rest easy, Ezra. Prayers for your loved ones. -
Woody Allen once postulated that some alien civilizations could be as much as 20 seconds more advanced than us. Your living room TV might just be a portal into another dimension of the space/time continuum.

Great episode. Yes, there were some stupid moments along with another major continuity gaff with the return of Jamie’s severed hand. And I was really hoping Dany’s (predictable) turn to madness wouldn’t happen, but I can understand why the writers did what they did. Dumbest scene: the Euron/Jamie fight. Just too stupid for words on every level. A waste of valuable plot time. Oh well. My favorite scene: Arya and the Hound in the Red Keep when Hound tells her to get out or she will end up like him and how that instantly registered with her. And her calling him by his given name, Sandor, and then thanking him. Good stuff. Also, I read a review and a critic mentioned that Dany’s turn toward madness was foreshadowed in season 2 when she had her vision in the House of the Undying. In it, she is in the iron throne room and it’s a burnt ruin with ash coming down (most of us thought it was snow). Also, in one of Bran’s visions, we see the ominous dark shadow of Drogon over King’s Landing. Made a lot of sense when I was reminded of that. -
We're building the offense around the passing attack

No, I’m not one of those that thinks McD is giving total autonomy to Daboll. Not at all. Was just interested in getting your perspective on how a weekly game plan is assembled, by whom, and how you think those discussions unfold. While I could offer my own insights, I’ll just say that the level of HC involvement on either side of the ball varies greatly from team to team and coach to coach. I honestly don’t know where McD lands on the spectrum. When it comes to assembling game plans, the process usually involves input from a myriad of people in the building. -

Been thinking the same for some time. I see the toll in human life and the destruction of the Red Keep convincing Jon and Dany that the throne, the chair itself, is simply not worth it; that there is a higher calling.
