  1. He would immediately upgrade the position. But he can go screw himself seven ways to Sunday.
  2. Stands to reason in the science denial era we live in today. I wonder how many of that 56% are also flat Earthers.
  3. And only one of them is ice and fire.
  4. Haha. Good question. Guaranteed nobody knew who he was at the time. It would be nice to be one of those people to have that story to tell.
  5. So Krueger is in town in April and covertly goes to various pubs to watch playoff hockey with fans and chats them up about the Sabres so he can get a sense of their passion for the team, etc. AFAIC, that is one helluva good first impression. On another note, JBotts should sign the goalie playing for Great Britain at the IIHF World tourney if he isn’t already by some other team. He’s phenomenal.
  6. Was there any inkling this was coming? Any sign at all?
  7. Lucky for them they were never in a game that lasted more than four hours.
  8. If so, they better put a glove on that hand. God only knows where that hand has been.
  9. Only one I knew of was on Main and Dewey
  10. Nobody ever made me laugh more. RIP.
  11. His burgers were a staple of my young boyhood. Helluva guy. RIP, Mr. Warlick.
  12. Seems we lost another good one when good ones are needed the most. Rest easy, Ezra. Prayers for your loved ones.
  13. Woody Allen once postulated that some alien civilizations could be as much as 20 seconds more advanced than us. Your living room TV might just be a portal into another dimension of the space/time continuum.
  14. Great episode. Yes, there were some stupid moments along with another major continuity gaff with the return of Jamie’s severed hand. And I was really hoping Dany’s (predictable) turn to madness wouldn’t happen, but I can understand why the writers did what they did. Dumbest scene: the Euron/Jamie fight. Just too stupid for words on every level. A waste of valuable plot time. Oh well. My favorite scene: Arya and the Hound in the Red Keep when Hound tells her to get out or she will end up like him and how that instantly registered with her. And her calling him by his given name, Sandor, and then thanking him. Good stuff. Also, I read a review and a critic mentioned that Dany’s turn toward madness was foreshadowed in season 2 when she had her vision in the House of the Undying. In it, she is in the iron throne room and it’s a burnt ruin with ash coming down (most of us thought it was snow). Also, in one of Bran’s visions, we see the ominous dark shadow of Drogon over King’s Landing. Made a lot of sense when I was reminded of that.
  15. No, I’m not one of those that thinks McD is giving total autonomy to Daboll. Not at all. Was just interested in getting your perspective on how a weekly game plan is assembled, by whom, and how you think those discussions unfold. While I could offer my own insights, I’ll just say that the level of HC involvement on either side of the ball varies greatly from team to team and coach to coach. I honestly don’t know where McD lands on the spectrum. When it comes to assembling game plans, the process usually involves input from a myriad of people in the building.
  16. Been thinking the same for some time. I see the toll in human life and the destruction of the Red Keep convincing Jon and Dany that the throne, the chair itself, is simply not worth it; that there is a higher calling.
  17. I’m not sure I agree a young player has reached his potential playing in a system not best suited to his talents.
  18. I, along with tens of thousands of others share your somber outlook about the Sabres and I think we are more than justified. Especially, as you point out, when worse teams have bypassed us in half the time. That points toward ineptitude from ownership on down. Can’t blame you at all. It’s a totally fair outlook. If Mitts doesn’t show incremental improvement over the next couple years and doesn’t arrive after that, then I’ll have to agree with you. Until then though, he’s developing as expected. And again, on par with some very good centers at the same career stage.
  19. Per the bold text, what do you imagine McD’s role is in creating the offensive game plan? How do you envision his discussions with Daboll unfold on a week to week basis?
  20. Well, things are bleak currently. I can understand the pessimism after eight years of perpetual suckitude. But Casey Mitts is the least of our issues. He belongs in the league and is progressing on the same track as a lot of other currently good Cs did after one season at 19 and 20 years old. If anyone was expecting a McD, Eichel, or Matthews, they had totally unreasonable expectations.
  21. The pick from the Blues could have been as high as 17 if both wild card teams would have advanced in the west. Got screwed in both game sevens!
