  1. So, because he had a bad coach and less talented teammates, it was ok for him to not give his best effort to protect himself from injury in his contract year as well as point fingers at teammates while a play was still occurring? That is disrespecting the game as well as the fans, too. And as a fan, I'm surprised you're ok with that. I'll reiterate and then close my end of this particular discussion: Attitude and effort are ALWAYS a personal choice. Always. There is no blaming the lack thereof on others.
  2. Bandit and I have agreed on Gilmore since his rookie season when, while often getting roasted by many here, we took the time to point out what he was doing and how, halfway through that season, when he started "shadowing" top receivers and played more man to man, he was a force and already one of the best CBs in the league. So you don't have to sell me on Gilmore's talent. It's obvious. Numbers tell how great he is as a player. And there's no denying that. His actions, on the other hand, told how lousy he was as a teammate that season. It was glaring and I suspect it didn't escape McD's scrutiny when he locked himself in the room and poured over game tapes when he arrived. While Rex certainly deserves much of the blame for the structures of the defense and how he used personnel within those structures, things like attitude, morale, effort, accountability, playing for your teammates etc., are STRICTLY a personal decision; you know, indicators of "football character" and Gilmore failed miserably in that department in his last season here.
  3. As someone who can relate to this on multiple levels, I don't find it glib at all. In fact, it's kind of refreshing.
  4. I don’t care how bad those safeties were or how bad Rex was and they were as sorry a group as ever assembled. Players with football character don’t point fingers at their teammates while the opposing receiver that ran by you a moment earlier IS STILL WALTZING INTO THE ENDZONE. And Rex and the safeties had nothing to do with his decision to turtle instead of making a hit in the interest of self preservation because you’re in a contract year and don’t want to get hurt. He had checked out before the first kickoff of the year. Good riddance. Helluva good CB, though. And glad as hell he’s gone nonetheless.
  5. Yep. Great piece of work by one the greats.
  6. First bold: although I haven’t heard it, that is a GREAT description for a lot of discordant compositions and arrangements. Second bold: ? I like what he did for ‘Inception’, though.
  7. I’ll have to acquaint myself, thanks for the tips. What do you think of Hans Zimmer?
  8. McD took one look at Gilmore’s chickenschit display of self preservation to avoid injury during his contract year and pointing a finger at teammates as the receiver who ran by him waltzed into the endzone and immediately knew Gilmore wasn’t his type of player. And good on him for that. Great cornerback, perhaps best in the game currently. And I didn’t shed a tear when he left.
  9. Nice. Love the cut of this man’s jib. Smart move to polish Eichel’s Apple, too. He knows who’s gonna feed him the next eight years. Diplomacy is always a good thing.
  10. I can respect breaking an aluminum bat, but Jim Rice once snapped his bat in half on a checked swing. Talk about bat speed and the strength to stop it.
  11. I agree, there are several more contemporary composers I’d put above Williams for sure. I’m not necessarily a fan of his by any stretch.
  12. Well, when arguments are poorly conceived, poorly presented, and poorly supported, it can be a daunting task.
  13. And seeing as how the home team automatically gets a 3 point advantage, the Bills were actually a 1.5 point underdog! Understandable, considering they were going up against Matt Patricia’s otherworldly brand of football genius! Seriously though, you’re right; just a couple of poor teams squaring off. Not an upset by either team winning that game. But when you’re trying to make a futile point, you have to grasp at whatever straws you can find.
  14. And he was playing hurt, too. When he got his lower leg wrenched against the Caps(?), I thought he’d suffered a gruesome injury, but he came back later and kept playing through it. Dude has the right stuff for sure.
  15. Christian Errorhoff says, “Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Pegula!” He will be on their payroll through 2027-28 to the tune of $860,000 per year. Nice.
  16. Yep. Allen actually hurt them from the pocket at times. Thank you Matt Patricia, super genius! On Allen’s three yard scramble for our first TD in that game, the Lions did a crap job of keeping him in the pocket at all. They lost contain and he beat them when he couldn’t find the open man. And in a goal line situation to boot! Thanks again, football genius Matt Patricia!
  17. Cool indeed. Get to see lots more of this from now on:
  18. I don’t see why us mere mortals and football neophytes should complain when we have one so astute who can point out the sheer genius of Matt Patricia! I mean, he held a quarterback to a mere 16 yards rushing! He gave up a 42 yard 4th quarter bomb for a TD to that same QB and lost the game, but that is beside the point. It’s all about not giving up rushing yards to a QB! That’s what wins games in this league! Although Allen did have a rushing TD in the game. Hmm. https://www.buffalobills.com/video/josh-allen-rushes-for-a-3-yard-touchdown
  19. Yeah, that’s true. And I do have the benefit of hindsight. If I’m being totally honest when thinking back on it, we needed to keep Risto at the time. Absolutely.
  20. Murray screwed this franchise in so many ways. I liked his zero f***s given attitude at times, but man, Risto for Hall was a no brainer.
  21. Thanks for this. IMO, Marner is in the $11m AAV range.
  22. As a football fan? Ok. Anyway, none of the myopic pinheads around here are capable causing me duress to the point of jumping off a bridge.? Oh, and I didn’t bring up Williams, somebody else did. But I get it, you’re not a Williams fan. Good for you. Neither am I, really. But please don’t tell me he hasn’t composed some complex, full symphony orchestral pieces. It’s seems like a matter of different tastes and debating different tastes is a futile exercise. Everything composed by the greats of all time was NOT some masterful complex work, either. But their symphonies certainly were. And as I’ve already stated, I’m confining my discussion to symphony composition only and, as the op suggested, I don’t see how a modern pop music composer can compare to that in terms of complexity. At least in my limited experience.
  23. I like Risto. Yeah, he has brain cramps at times, but I think a lot of that has been being asked to do more than he’s capable of while logging insane minutes against top lines since he came into the league. Great point about Krueger and his ability to maximize Risto’s game. If anyone can do that, I get the sense it may be him.
  24. Might as well face it, Allen has no chance against Flores and the Dolphins. He’s even better than Patricia at keeping a QB in the pocket! And Patricia is a defensive genius because he figured out that you need to maintain pass rush discipline and containment to keep a good running QB in the pocket.
