John Warrow’s High Praise For Beane & McDermott Regime

Worse than a three game stretch where they gave up 1,553 total yards and 740 rushing yards? Show me. -

Per the bold, what should his stats be as a 1-tech playing 47% of the snaps in McDermott's scheme? -

So what? Really? Does it really have to be explained? Especially "amidst the other issues", a strong arm and quick release are two desireable boxes to check off. His game needs work, no doubt. And I still subscribe to the old adage of "1,000 attempts" before an honest determination can be made. But if you're gonna write off his ability to mature and develop those other parts of his game after only 11 starts and 320 attempts, what's the point? -

And a release 10x quicker, too. Which is such a critical aspect on so many throws, especially those long outs from the far hash. I shudder to think of Fitz triple hitching on some of those. Triple hitching! It was painful to watch. -

LMAO! My hope? When's the next drama club meeting? Anyway, I haven't been involved in an argument suggesting Dareus's absence didn't negatively impact the defense when it obviously did. Like I said, I was merely correcting an inaccurate statement which was deliberately used to bolster the argument. There's a word for that, but it escapes me at the moment. -

Subject wasn't changed. A claim was made that after we traded Dareus, the Bills defense went on its worse run in history. I merely corrected that inaccurate claim. -
If we can't move up to get Turcotte, I want Caufield, regardless of our need at 2C currently. I say currently because, unlike many around these parts, I'm not selling Casey Mitts short. Will be be ready for an expanded 2C role this year? Not likely. But neither will any C we draft, either. Year three? Casey arrives.

Pure hyperbole. Your research game needs work. You can start with the 2012 season, with Dareus starting and in the middle of it all, to find a stretch that's even worse. -

There's a lot to that. Leads to perpetual mediocrity at best. -

Among the worst isn't as bad as the worst, which we were over that 25 year period I described previously. Why don't I get the impression you're actually laughing, though? You seem miserable when it comes to anything Bills related. -

Belichick begged us to run on him and I get the impression he knew Kelly's ego wouldn't allow it. That over-hyped defensive alignment, with the two DL with their hands on the ground and everybody else standing up, conceded the leverage battle to our OL right off the bat. Levy, Marchibroda, Kelly et al should have seen that and just let Hull and Co. tee off. Belichick would have gotten out of that after one series of watching his guys get their asses handed to them. But no, Marv didn't have the stones to demand of Marchibroda and Kelly to let Thurman take the rock and force the issue. Marv was too good of a delegator, sometimes to the team's detriment. Would have helped if our defense stopped the run in that game, too. But that's another sad story already beaten to death. -

I think there might truth to that rumor about Lanier and Canisius. My dad, a CC grad and an involved alumnus, was tweaked that the Griffs couldn’t land Lanier and I remember him saying something about his grades not being good enough. Surprised there wasn’t a rumble between the Jesuits and Franciscans when he signed with Bona. But man, Little 3 b-ball was a show back then; a must see event on Saturday nights at the Aud. Some highly ranked national teams were on the schedule back then and I remember that packed, smokey arena buzzing with excitement. First time I ever saw Calvin Murphy, he was twirling his baton as part of a halftime show of a Bills game at the Rockpile. He was an amazing athlete who, despite his short stature, could dunk two handed from a standing jump under the basket. The Mel Montgomery story was sad. He went downhill fast. Too bad there weren’t the international options available today. He could have made a nice living playing ball overseas. We better hope McDermott is better than Levy. -

Ah, the mad as hell working class hero, “they owe me, damn it!” indignation. A real classic. Have you had your Howard Beale moment yet? You’ll have to get in line with ScottLaw when demanding that apology letter from then Bills, though. -

Josh is a risk taker, pure and simple. He doesn’t give up on plays, sometimes to his detriment. Whereas Dak goes to his checkdowns much more quickly. I’m confident that Allen will start taking more of what the defense is giving him as we saw post injury last season. And when that happens with regularity, watch out. Because he has the arm to take what he wants when defenses adjust to the fact he’s taking what they’re giving him. -

I love this post if for no other reason than the sheer nostalgia it conjures. I also loved the Braves as a kid back in the day. But before that, WNY’s claim to basketball fame was Little Three Basketball and the great local college players that made it so great. And living two blocks from the Deleware b-ball courts, I was privileged to witness some of the best pick up games in history. Bob Lanier, Randy Smith, Calvin Murphy and a younger Mel Montgomery were just a few of the stars that played pick up on those hallowed courts. It was our version of Rucker. Quite the thrill for us little kids to watch. And SCREW Paul Snyder and John Y Brown. We supported the Braves and got screwed. -

Helluva lot worse indeed! I’ve said this many times over the years here: from 1960 thru 1984 the Bills had the worst winning percentage of any team in the four major pro sports league in America. Yes, it was frustrating. Yes, we were often envious. But we never wavered, never lost hope, and never lost perspective. And these ungrateful punks think they know what suffering is? Give me a break. -

My Bills issues. Laughing my F ing ass off as the kids say today. When one has perspective, one doesn't have issues. Get a grip, junior. You are the biggest tool in this forum, regardless of how many testimonials to your in person tailgate "great guy" personality to the contrary. The fact you conflate complaints about the Sabres head coach with everything Bills, an organization I worked for long ago, is asinine. But in your ever present need to stretch to make a non-jointed point, you insist on treating the two as equal opportunities. I'm curious as to why such a "nice guy" in person has to resort to the kind of childish behavior you indulge in here. I can offer several psychological insights as to perhaps why, but it would fall on deaf ears. Instead, I'll just say you can go F yourself until your dick falls off. You simply aren't worth the effort. Are we really gonna keep splitting hairs? Go ahead, have at it. -

Like I said, we can split hairs all day long. "Shouldn't" is the same f***king thing as saying they were "wrong." You may be one of the saner posters that says there's another way, but the incessant whiners who know it all and complain about every f**king move in the rebuild are convinced they got it wrong. Maybe you're a tweener who questions why they made the decisions they made and more power to you. But the chronic complainers are a different lot. -

Nobody is capable of putting you in your place. The hope is that when confronted with enough rational thought, you can achieve the requisite level of wisdom and do that all by yourself. Good luck with that. We’ll be watching. -

Do you give them any credit at all for admitting to that mid stream and correcting the situation? Never mind. That was rhetorical. I would have been fine with either QB as we really needed one. But I don't hold that against them. They had their sights set on a better QB class in 2018. -

Gee, thanks. But putting people on ignore really doesn't work as one can view those posts when others respond. Besides, it would deprive me the cathartic relief of calling you out when needed.
