  1. I’ll just agree to disagree about the Jest talent level going in and leave it at that. Nobody should be surprised the Bills didn’t garner praise in the off season. Small market, lack of success, and players nobody outside of WNY has heard much about conspire to make that a reality. Until we make an impact on a national level, it’s just something we’ll have to live with.
  2. Imo, the Jest has two areas of weakness going in: CB and OL, as you mentioned. They’ve got some talented players at many other positions, though. So I could at least understand how people could respect that. Manish Mehta should just retract that crap about Gase just to maintain what little credibility he has left. Gase is the antithesis of a leader.
  3. Borgen called up. Scandella must be hurt and out tonight. But he’s a LHD while Borgen is a RHD. Interesting. I’d guess Gilmour gets the call to fill in as he’s also a LHD and Borgen is the extra? Hmm.
  4. Every time I read something like this, it pisses me off to no end. Unfortunately, it’s too common a refrain. F**king corporate traitors. All of them.
  5. Angel Moroni boney!
  6. Yep. Regular season results only. Mention of preseason wins dilutes the discussion.
  7. All comments are “fair”. The reason why Firechans is disingenuous and I’m not, is that I’ve often been critical of Allen’s play whereas Firechans never has a positive thing to say about Allen or anything Bills. Thus he was being disingenuous when he said he was “glad” Allen can overcome mistakes and help us win games later on. Your suggestion that I point only to Allen’s positives while ignoring all his negatives is as ill-informed as it gets.
  8. Given their talent, I can understand the praise. But given that everybody knows it takes much more than talent to become winners, I’m surprised anyone is shocked at where the Jest are now. Especially with Gase at the helm, as you pointed out.
  9. So, Josh Allen really can hit the broad side of a barn?
  10. I agree. This schedule has been grueling and it’s gonna be even worse in the ensuing month after they get back from Sweden. Tomorrow night will be a test for sure. I’m just glad it’s a short flight to Detroit. I can’t cite being worn down as the reason they lost tonight, though. They just played poorly. And I’ll give the Rangers some credit, too. They were ready from opening puck drop.
  11. A deep dive into his groin? That could be mighty uncomfortable, depending on who’s doing the diving.
  12. Notice how the cop couldn’t move immediately afterwards?
  13. Robert Froster sighting!
  14. Ah, the old “desperation” angle. Playing “desperate” often works against you because the moment you make a mistake that desperation tends to lead to pressing and pressing leads to all sorts of mistakes. In a 16 game season, all the games are critical. Desperation is implied going in to every game, imo.
  15. Jets owner is too busy pursuing legal settlements with plaintiffs vs. Johnson&Johnson.
  16. Absolutely! “Iron sharpens iron” is quickly becoming one of my favorite axioms.
  17. Another indicator that Kreuger is making the difference as Vesey had no rep for being that kind of player with the Rangers previously. Rangers fans I know thought the opposite, actually. They are definitely going to hit a slump sooner or later. The test will be how quickly they can respond before it festers and they fold like they did under Housley, who had zero answers when things weren’t working. Kreuger strikes me as a coach who finds answers, so I’d be surprised if we went on a 40 game slump like last year.
  18. My “Josh Allen can do no wrong hero worship mantra?” What a load of crap statement. Total nonsense. Given Firechans’s take on things, I think he was being disingenuous. My question was legit.
  19. True, the Jest erred in allowing it. But that doesn’t excuse the rampant ignorance that ensued.
  20. This entire saga points out how ignorant the media, fans, and even some defensive players like Kyle Van Noy can be about a totally innocuous phrase used by QBs and coaches for years. If the Jest hadn’t been blown out or had Darnold not had such a poor outing otherwise, it wouldn’t be as magnified. God forbid the media and the hordes of wannabe bloggers that comprise so much of it nowadays wouldn’t have something to sensationalize.
  21. Fair point about our goaltending regressing. But, unlike during the streak last year, we aren’t relying solely on other worldly goaltending to rack up wins so far this year. Even in games where Hutton and Ullmark have stood on their heads and made great saves this season, our other analytics, like 5x5 goal differential for instance, indicate huge improvement over last year. We just couldn’t say that during the streak last year when it was obvious that we were largely being outplayed. All that said, I expect a rough patch given the compacted schedule coming up after the trip to Sweden. It’s asking too much to a tired team to keep up this pace. Like I said, that was Casey’s best play since he’s been here. So great to see it rewarded with Eichel’s game winner.
  22. You kept saying that because the Bills didn’t blow teams out like the Pats*** did, then they weren’t that good. So, other than directly saying that, that’s exactly what you said. Nobody is as good as the Patriots*** presently, everybody knows that, so it was kind of absurd to think that fact needed to be pointed out. Yet, you felt compelled to enlighten us all to that simple fact. Like I said, razor sharp insight on your part.
  23. Perhaps you need to re-evaluate what Wawrow is getting at. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY is surprised that the Bills aren’t as good as the Pats***.
