  1. There was a nice article in the BN about Lewis’s visit to his relatives in Buffalo when he was a kid. He held a special place in his heart for Buffalo ever since. I was struck by his feeling that Buffalo was a bastion of integration compared to where he grew up under Jim Crow. And his description of his father’s palpable relief when they crossed into Ohio on their way here made me realize where much of his rare courage and grace came from. RIP, John Lewis. Your legacy lives on.
  2. Critics of FDR’s New Deal policies would argue against your point. Indeed, there are those that feel the Democratic Party is more returning to its roots rather than making any radical shift to the left. Universal health care and free public education have been planks in the party platform going back 80 years. It’s an interesting study.
  3. All true. Regardless, we do know unequivocally that this virus can and will overrun health care systems when given the chance. And yet we’ve insisted on giving it chance after chance.
  4. Lol! That’s better than the Virgin Mary or Jesus Christ.
  5. It’s the only rational decision that could be made given where we are currently.
  6. Never gets old. Brings me back to my 10 year old, wonder-filled boyhood every time.
  7. So, if seeing the powder blue and grayish tan (taupe?) is wrong, then how come I don’t have any problem seeing the “real” colors revealed in the link above?
  8. Same here.
  9. What’s the difference between not actually calling it a hoax and saying everybody, including the CDC, is lying about it? Chuck Woolery is a piece of work. Not surprised that cowardly little Biotch deleted his twitter account.
  10. The articles I’ve read mentioned the delay in funerals as a contributing factor, but officials are pretty adamant that the spike in Covid-19 deaths is the primary driver of the need for the refrigerator trucks, which isn’t surprising given the corresponding increases in hospitalizations and ICU care, which delayed funerals have nothing to do with.
  11. You like gladiator movies?
  12. That’s an interesting stat about Texas. According to the CDC, the 2019/2020 flu season saw 24,000 deaths in the US. It’s amazing that Texas alone accounted for 46% of those. I also find it interesting that nobody seems seems to have an urgent need to quantify co-morbidities in flu deaths like they do for COVID-19.
  13. What question, specifically? The one about co-morbities? I can’t answer that. Neither can anyone else at the moment. Why do I get the impression that it’s more about a particular spin put forth by those that think the death count only serves to hurt certain political agendas? And like I said, that’s not the most important issue. It’s the potential the virus has to overrun our healthcare systems as we’ve seen. But that’s a lot harder to spin.
  14. How many of those death scenarios do you imagine comprise the 135K+ deaths to this point? Are you seeking to legitimize the idea that it’s just not as bad as we think? Good luck with that. But that isn’t the crux of it; it’s the potential for our health care system to be overwhelmed as happened in Italy, China, NYC a few months ago and as is happening now in Houston, Montgomery, AL, Miami Dade and other areas.
  15. Read better? I saw no references to MSNBC, Vox, or Huffington Post in any posts of yours I read. If you mentioned them previously, fine, but I didn’t see them and I’m not about to go fishing for every post of yours in this thread. I don’t consider Breitbart, Conservative Treehouse, or Fox News as legitimate news organizations. They are strictly op-Ed and hold no journalistic credentials or standards. Have they run any reports on the requests by red state officials for refrigerator trucks to meet overflow demands from local morgues? I strongly doubt it. And we all understand why.
  16. You refer to articles by legitimate news sources as “fear porn” and I’m irrational? Let me guess, anything reported by “main stream media” will not suffice as a credible source, right? But on the off chance I’m wrong, here’s an article from the Fort-Worth Star Telegram. It ain’t fear porn, it’s a service to their local readership about conditions greatly important to that constituency. https://www.star-telegram.com/news/coronavirus/article244267152
  17. I doubt any “credible” sources exist for this poster. Maybe PJMedia and other alt right sources, but that’s it. There are several reports out Texas and Arizona, by both local and national outlets alike, referencing requests made by government officials for refrigerator trucks to help with overflow conditions in local morgues. Just like we saw in NYC a few months ago. That’s not “fear porn”, just simple reports on the conditions on the ground in some locations. But hell, we are a thousand miles away so it just can’t be real.
  18. Peters had to go. The situation in Buffalo became untenable. No amount of revisionism can change that.
