We are all friends with MAGA supporters; I understand that. And I won’t go as far as saying they all advocate all of the same aims as their political leaders. Regardless, when it comes to certain things, including the idea that a pandemic which disproportionately sickens and kills a constituency of an opposing ideology that they otherwise seek to silence at the polls by other means, then I think that leadership is fully on board. No, I don’t think your son wants to see people die. But I don’t think the leadership of his political party cares one way or the other. What else explains the lack of a unified national plan to combat this thing after nearly seven months IN SPITE of the best advice from our own experts otherwise? While the very thought of my having these thoughts might sicken you, the very thought that our MAGA friends aren’t front and center in condemning what we see occurring on a daily basis sickens me even more. I’m sure this post will get deleted and perhaps it should if it crossed a boundary. But I’m not apologizing for it. I hope you can understand that.

If you or another mod feels the need to delete this, I will understand. But I have to say that, given the sheer demographics of which groups suffer most from this pandemic, I firmly believe that a certain political group thinks it is just fine with these outcomes.

You’ve got that right. I’m doing research on behalf of those who hypothesize that there are a few, singular legislative events that took place decades ago that directly led to the kind of tribal intractability responsible for our reluctance to embrace unifying themes as a nation.

Would have been nice to have leadership capable of articulating what public health is all about, what our role is in maintaining it, and then demanding the sacrifice necessary to see it through. Americans have done this in the past. And we can do it again. But it starts at the top with a unifying vision.

Why some people don’t understand this simple concept is beyond me. Lack of a disadvantage is an inherent advantage, which is a privilege. I guess people are too wrapped up in their “nobody ever gave me anything, I worked my ass off for everything I have” defensiveness to understand what a lack of an advantage means for other people on a day to day basis.

What a bunch of crap. You can gather numerous statistics from various agencies about SARS- CoV-2 and Covid-19 DIRECTLY, without ever having to rely on any “controlled” news agency.

Information is readily available for those who avail themselves to it. But willful ignorance is impossible to converse with.
