Nostalgia is a powerful drug. But most things were better in our pasts because we were kids with no responsibilities and little understanding of the world. As for the NFL or other sports, I don’t think it’s any better or worse. But my enthusiasm for them is simply not as pronounced on a regular basis given all the stuff that life demands now vs. when I was a kid.

You made a comparison between Allen and Mahomes suggesting that Allen is “lacking” because Mahomes has only thrown one INT this season. If “sucks” is too strong, fine, but you seem to find Allen “unfavorable” by comparison to Mahomes. And if that’s the case, every other QB is unfavorable as well.

So Allen sucks because he’s not Patrick Mahomes? Really? By that standard, every other QB in the league sucks, too.

The term for this moroseness is “fair weather fan”, the likes of which are a dime a dozen. So take a number.

I think Miami set the record for fastest abandonment of man to man coverage after Diggs’s second wide open crosser in the first quarter. And nobody likes man coverage schemes more than Flores so you know it had to hurt to admit that.

I honestly don’t know what AZ’s predominant coverage schemes are, but if they DO play man as was posited in the post I responded to initially, then we will shred it. Great point about Allen flattening the curve vs. the types of zone coverages he’s been seeing since the Titans game.

If AZ plays a predominantly man scheme, they have no chance of stopping this offense. Allen and Co. have shredded any team that’s tried it this year. You can’t turn your back on Allen, it’s that simple. I think AZ plays more of what we’ve seen since the Titans game.

Good point. They were waiver wire acquisitions obtained for the $100 waiver fee. Period. And we were lucky teams ahead of us in the waiver acquisition pecking order passed on them. They were never free agents before coming to Buffalo. Free agency wasn’t even a thing when we acquired Tasker and Lofton.

This is a tough one for sure. I gotta give it to the Bennett trade though. That deal immediately changed the balance of power in the AFCE.

Smith gets a lot of high marks from younger players over the years and I suspect that doesn’t go unnoticed by the coaching staff.

No thanks. I subscribe to the “bird in the hand theory.” This team, in its current state of development, doesn’t have the luxury of taking a crapshoot on a greenhorn rookie and wasting several seasons to get him to Allen’s current level. Especially because whoever that prospect is, the odds are against him having the elite arm talent, football character, and intangibles that Allen possesses.

Where’s our QB?

We “know” because the evidence suggests he does. That said, the notion of a coach being in charge of mental preparedness is overblown. It's on the individual players themselves to be mentally prepared to play. That’s why players who have that ability on a consistent basis are far more desirable than those that don’t. The world is littered with busts who couldn’t do that at the pro level.

That really sucks. Here’s to recouping the loss soon.
