This thread, like so many others I've seen over the years, disparaging the Electoral College, is absolutely disgusting.... Where do I start? Even people on here I have respect for seem to favor it?? So.... 50% plus one, should elect the POTUS?? Didn't we learn anything from deciding that was the way to elect our Senators? I even see folks say, well, it's eroded so far already, why not?? Good thing I use a pneumatic stapler... They work very well, always willing to shoot the load I fill it up with. Admittedly, sometimes the head valve can get clogged up, but is easily cleaned and re lubed with intimment attention... Switch it to Bump fire for quicker operation or sequential for the slower, safer way to do it.... whew... back to PBO... no... not even a stapler....

Basically, during the W, the WH press corps as you alude to, had decended more to asking, and not investigating on it's own and had started taking their jobs of reporting, less seriously. Under W, Tony Snow in particular, came the reminder, that as a part of the prestigious WH press corps, it was a job of privelege, not one to be taken lightly... He reminded them that they had a job to report to the Amercan people, and not write "opinions" of what they heard.... All POTUS since I can remember, try to prepare themselves for a press briefing, knowing the questions that may be asked, and picking "reporters" they expect soft ball questions from... PBO I think, has taken this a step further though, limiting his appearances drastically, but also cutting the time to a minimum.... I would argue, it's no wonder even the soft ball media then, is throwing a curveball or slider instead... Don't get to question PBO very often, better try harder for the Pulitzer.... JMHO...

Yeah, I realized that when I got further into the thread. Yet I can't help but KNOW, the gubment will use this to try to force more gun control. But, can you imagine, how far would this have gotten if carry by honest Americans was more prevalent? Say only a couple people, in the front row, were packed....Reports say he came in one of the fire exits, I'm assuming, one on either side of the screen. Threw smoke/gas bombs, and people panicked and ran, FOR THE OPPOSITE DOORS and the other end of the theater... Hindsight, I know... If I'm one of those in the front row packed, and see someone bust in a door, I'm reaching... He throws the bombs, I'm pulling... He might, get off a shot before I hit him... I always shoot body first... bigger target.. he'd fall or stagger from the impact, but if he looks capable, and willing to fire again, I empty my gun, aiming for the smaller target, his head... Oh, and since I mentioned 2 people packing.... It never got as far as mentioned above... The "other" guy, was carrying a S&W 29 with wad cutters... game over... DING-DING!!! We have a winner!!!
