  1. By a long shot...he's older than Stefon Diggs!
  2. Somebody probably already said it, but there is a "poaching period" from Sunday to Tuesday during which no PS players are protected. Then, on Tuesday afternoon a team can protect up to four for the upcoming week. Poaching is likely to be a negligible issue this year, though, because a player won't even be able to get into another team's facility for five days with the testing process. So you poach knowing that guy won't be able to play for you that week.
  3. I never thought we'd have college football. Unlike the NFL, which can set strict standards across all franchises, the NCAA isn't nearly organized enough to do the same and the wild disparity in facilities across the college landscape makes keeping everyone safe a daunting challenge. Then, you have the athletes themselves. The pros are being paid a schitt-ton of money, are more or less mature, most have families, and they know their livelihoods are on the line so they are more likely to behave outside of the facility. College kids? Umm, pretty much the opposite except for the roughly 2% who have legitimate dreams of a pro career.
  4. My point was in response to "they were only 4th and 6th round picks" -- in such a deep class that means less than it might ordinarily...
  5. I don’t know why, but I found myself rewatching this season’s “Embedded” that took us through the Bills’ pre-draft process. What stuck out is how Beane said at the combine, when they were watching the WRs, something to the effect of “gosh, there are so many good ones this year.” Don’t underestimate the Beaner.
  6. The most exciting thing to me about Smoke's comments was that Davis is running the whole route tree. Versatility, baby -- if every receiver can run every route the D can't "sit" on anything in particular based solely upon personnel.
  7. I think Kay would look good in (or out of) just about anything, but I agree with your sentiment.
  8. You're right, it absolutely shows that Brown is not insecure. I admire that sort of leadership as well.
  9. This would make sense if Brown was talking up a rookie who plays a different position -- like, "wow, that AJ Epenesa looks like a beast and seems to be picking things up really quick." The rooks Brown is praising could potentially take his job. Anyway, it's not a big deal, I just saw your post and it was curious to me. Great for us as fans if what he's saying is accurate.
  10. As long as you're within whatever the outdoor gathering number restriction is, sounds like a good idea.
  11. So in another thread it's being reported that John Brown has already praised Davis and Hodgins for knowing the playbook "better than some veterans." Duke, your days are numbered.
  12. Odd take. I doubt seriously John Brown feels he needs to give any veteran WRs a "wakeup call."
  13. Should add this to the "Duke off COVID list" thread -- if Hodgins knows the playbook that well already, bye bye Duke.
  14. LOL. And Oliver was never cited for any driving violation (speeding, careless & reckless, etc.). Just the DWI, which means no law enforcement officer even saw this alleged "bad driving." It's just shady.
  15. I may be in the minority, but I think McKenzie is underrated by many. Sure hands, quick as a rabbit, and knows the offense. He's much more dependable than Duke, for example. If you put him in as the 4th WR and start doing things with motion you can put a lot of speed out there and pressure the defense. Just my $.02...
  16. You may want to review the roster depth chart at WR during his time there. This was well documented when he was drafted last year.
  17. Ok, I think you should have simply said he doesn't have a lot of experience at the position, because physically he is a perfect "natural" fit for today's NFL TE. As for catching ability -- he made some extremely difficult catches last year and admitted his drops were because he took his attention away before securing the ball. I don't see a guy who struggles to catch -- I see a guy who was looking to make big plays and just needs to learn to complete the catch first (which he said he has done). I guess we'll find out soon enough.
  18. Umm, this isn't going to happen. Roberts is an All-Pro returner. My prediction for the 53: Diggs Brown Beasley Davis Roberts McKenzie Practice Squad: Hodgins Williams Easley
  19. I think Duke getting a chance last year was a nice story, and his TD against the Titans was great. That said, he is what he is — a big guy who isn’t very fast, doesn’t get great separation, and couldn’t crack a Bills’ lineup yearning for a “tough catch” guy for most of the year. When he got his big chance in the playoffs and Josh looked his way it was a disappointment. It will be a shock to me if he makes this team given who the Bills drafted and with the addition of Diggs.
  20. He was the only guy on the roster supposedly capable of making contested catches, and then he really let the team down in Houston.
  21. Hell yeah. The Bills drop a reserve O-lineman and he immediately gets snatched up by a Super Bowl participant.
  22. Have you rewatched Josh’s 2nd half of the playoff game? While it seems to be almost universally accepted as fact that Josh “blew it” because of a couple of head scratchers, his receiving corps let him down BIG time. He threw some absolute dimes that were dropped or misplayed. I am super optimistic about his progression and think we’re in for a hell of a good time as Bills fans.
  23. Who are needed for practice. Let’s not pretend Beane doesn’t know how to work the system or somehow “screwed up” not holding onto Long to get a draft pick.
