NFL is getting ready for football - waivers started
eball replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So you expect owners to pay the salaries of 25 more guys while they’re losing most if not all fan revenue? Not happening, young grasshopper. -
I think those are reasonable expectations. If he plays all 16 games then averaging 200 yds/gm is 3200 yards, while 300 yds/gm is 4800 yards. I think he’ll actually be closer to 4000 (250 per) and I think total TDs will be 32+ (i.e., 2+ per game).

NFL will allow social justice decals on helmets

Umm, you’re wrong. If you want to get away from the real world go to Disneyland. The NFL will be just fine. -

Sorry, brother, it doesn’t work that way. If you don’t want to allow professional athletes to also be people and support their causes — in a way that doesn’t impact the game you’re watching AT ALL — you are free to change the channel. -
Sport "slogans" or quotes that stay with you..

Meh, you’re trying too hard. It’s a classic, it makes sense, and everybody knows what it means. -

Nope. It’s a continuation play. If the player isn’t deemed to be in the process of shooting when the foul is committed then the basket doesn’t count. So the saying makes perfect sense. I’ll add one, but probably belongs in a nickname thread. Berman had a bunch but my favorite was always Bert “Be Home” Blyleven. -
ESPN FUTURE POWER RANKINGS NEXT 3 YEARS BILLS #14
eball replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup. I really think it’s a matter of folks continuing to hang onto pre-draft evaluations and looking only at QB statistics like completion % and QBR. It’s a shame because everything you said is true. I’ve said numerous times that nothing about how Josh has progressed suggests he has plateaued or will not continue to improve. Nothing. -
My 2014 NFL Draft Evals - Revisited!
eball replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good stuff. -
The players simply want and need to feel safe. The opt out should be available but not once the season begins. I was hearing the NFL wanted August 1 but I’d give the players until a week before the regular season starts.

This is a farcical statement. Of course the NFL has been planning; do you have no concept of the sheer enormity of what they have to deal with? The players’ concerns are legitimate and this will be worked out.

This is neither rocket surgery nor brain science. He wants to make plays. He is learning that when a defensive player is not right on him he needs to secure the ball first and then look to run people over. As the game slows down for him there’s no reason to expect he won’t get this under control.
-
Nah, you’re overthinking it. The kid was trying to make plays as an overly eager rookie. Now he’s had an offseason to reflect and focus on what is most important (i.e., securing the ball). I’m glad he’s confident and not “worried” about his ability to catch, because as I said earlier, he made some very difficult catches look easy.

How about hoping that we have our own Rodgers developing in Josh Allen? Seems like a better use of your time.

This thread has got me betwitched and between.

The key to me is awareness. It sounds like he is committed to making sure every ball is secured before he looks to make any more plays like the one against Cincinnati. I don’t think he has a hands problem. I mean, look at a couple of the long balls he caught (against NE*** and Baltimore) when he was concentrating. They were stupendous.

Training Camp countdown and previews

Stupid red helmet. -
From article on the front page this a.m.: Knox tailored his workouts so that he could zero in on an aspect of his game to improve each week. One was the reliability of his hands, which Knox said he addressed by catching 250 balls a day fired at him from the Jugs machine at his parents’ home, which is a 15-minute drive away. “I've never had any type of problems with my hands,” Knox said. “It came down to last year, it would be the easy catches that I kind of would start looking upfield, thinking too much about what I'm going to try to do when I actually get the ball in my hands instead of actually getting it into my hands first. There were some photos I saw (where) the ball was getting to me and I was already looking at who I'm going to try to make miss. So that's been the biggest thing for me, just focusing on eyes all the way to the tuck. But I mean, I don't have any type of issues with what that's going to look like going forward, because I think it's just kind of going back to the basics, retraining my eyes to the tuck and not trying to go run someone over until I actually have the ball. This is good stuff — I look for Dawson to have an outstanding year.

New Era name to be dropped from Stadium

The Bills are an up-and-coming team as well...almost makes too much sense for it not to happen. -

The Cap just never quite caught on...so sad. Oh well, can’t say I give a crap about what the stadium is called; I find myself calling it Rich all the time anyway. -
Lou Saban, what a great job he's done.

What a maroon. Can’t say I’m surprised; the creamsicle doesn’t get much right.
