2nd highest Number of Bills fans?
eball replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Happy (and not at all surprised) to see my NC in at #4. Tons of Bills fans down here. -
I remember it because I took a date to the game who wasn’t really a football fan, and she looked at everyone like they were crazy as we were going nuts in the stands.

Friggin’ brilliant!

These guys are such lazy dorks. Yes, if you simply plugged numbers into your Tandy-TRS80 when Josh came out of college you'd say "he won't be any good." To completely ignore the background, physical talent, and intangibles that were readily apparent is, at best, intellectual dishonesty, but they went a step further and did a hatchet job on Allen every time he played. Everyone saw Allen's improvement from Y1 to Y2, so what did they do? Predict he was at his ceiling -- not because of data, but because they didn't want to contradict their precious "model" that told them he'd suck. I guess we've established that three weeks is the PFF breaking point. Screw 'em.

1 - Politics, covid, abusive behavior, and haphazard topic starting are the worst in my opinion. I think we are mostly adults on this forum and I don't really believe there should be "language" moderation since it is a part of everyday speech. We're not in church. If the language isn't directed at another poster, why censor it? In this day and age are we truly worried about (s h i t) in written form? 2 - politics 1, covid 1, abusive behavior 5, haphazard thread starting 2. 3 - accumulate 7 points within a 3-month period and have posting privileges revoked for two weeks (can still read the board). Two points are removed every month, provided no additional violations within that time. (this addresses #4 as well) 5 - no appeals unless the violation is for alleged abusive behavior; a mod would ask both the accused as well as the victim for an explanation, and then determine if the full five pts are assessed or a reduced number. My $.02, anyway.

Josh's pass to Gabe Davis on the left sideline
eball replied to jkeerie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ha! Actually, he pointed out the play against Miami where Josh rolled out to his left after avoiding pressure and then overshot a wide open Knox. He noted how Josh did everything right except get his left shoulder pointed at the target, which caused the ball to sail. -

I credit Peyton Manning in last week's "Detail" for pointing this out to Josh. -
Scott, I think most fans have given Lamar his due for what he did in 2018 and 2019, while at the same time acknowledging that he is not a polished passer and reasonably questioning whether the Ravens' style will continue to dominate opposing defenses. In two of their last four meaningful games Lamar has not been good.

Clearly, Kroft should start at tight end now
eball replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ahh...was not clear. By the way, I don't think Knox has a motivation problem either. -
Completely agree. Never viewed Moon as a running threat. Dude was a pure passer and threw a beautiful ball. Edit: just looked it up. Moon averaged just a bit over 150 yards rushing per season and his high was 268 yards. He only broke 200 three times in his NFL career. His career YPA? 3.2 Yeah, a real "dual threat."

Huh? The guy was excited to come to Buffalo and then blew out both of his feet! This has nothing to do with motivation and everything to do with getting healthy and finally having a chance to contribute. -
Fitzpatrick says his favorite NFL city is ... Buffalo

Fitzy is the man. -
This moniker, courtesy of Kyle Brandt on GMFB, is now my favorite description of Josh's crazy moments.

They did the Miami game and both were gushing over Allen's play. Will be a good watch.

The difference between Allen and Mahomes is that even though Mahomes can run he only runs when he has to or a play breaks down...they don't design runs for him (that I've seen). Josh's running ability is actually a weapon, forcing defenses to keep a spy on him. Josh is, one would presume, more durable than the slighter Mahomes and this likely plays into it. I agree that Josh needs to learn to protect himself (and the football) more, but I don't see the running decreasing as a part of his "maturation" -- he'll just be smarter about it. As for Lamar, I'm not going to get into that discussion. I'm on record that I don't think what Baltimore is doing with him is sustainable for any significant period of time.

A Few Thoughts About Virgil In No Particular Order
eball replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was going to respond and say what a fun post that was, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it without QUOTING THE ENTIRE THING SO EVERYONE HAS TO SCROLL THROUGH IT REPEATEDLY to read the responses. Oh wait, you CAN do that. -
MNF: Chiefs at Ravens, 8:20 on ESPN
eball replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now that Josh seems to have success against man coverage it certainly makes me feel better if we have to play the Ravens in the playoffs. -
All the Josh MVP will be over soon so enjoy it now

Sometimes the best thing to do when you feel like you want to start a thread is to put the phone/keyboard down and go take a five minute break. The feeling will pass. -
Rumor has it that @Chandler#81 absolutely loved the press conference.

Week 3 Around the NFL. What’s your 🔥 take?

My post-W3 takes (with one game still to be played): The Texans are in a world of trouble. Yes, they've lost to three teams who are currently undefeated (that will change tonight) but they are already now facing a "must win" game next week vs. the similarly desperate Vikings. They are two games out of 2nd place in their own division. Denver's season is over. Tons of injuries and bad QB play. Chicago's record is a mirage. What 3-0 team replaces their starting QB? It's premature to throw dirt on the Saints but they are teetering on the edge of a lost season. Atlanta is not as bad as their record and even Carolina looked capable yesterday. The NFC West is going to be a knock-down, drag out fight. Those four teams are going to beat each other up. Could the entire division make the playoffs? 7-9 may win the NFC East. Bills-related thoughts: It appears to me that the Chargers and Broncos will be much "easier" games for Buffalo than they looked at first. The Pats*** are still a legitimate contender. Speaking of the NFC West...talk about bad luck for our NFC draw this season. One down... We all expected a top five defense offense after three weeks, right? -
You certainly don't need me to defend you but I will. You were very vocal when Josh was drafted that you thought it was a critical mistake by Beane that would doom his and McDermott's fate. Since that time, however, you have been nothing but even-handed in your assessment of Allen's play and if I only read your posts over the past two seasons I would not believe you would have made as strong a statement after the draft as you did. You are a fine example of what it means to express a strong opinion but then be open-minded and willing to adapt and adjust as you see the situation evolve. There's no agenda or "narrative" that I can see.
