Beane End of Year Presser
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to thenorthremembers's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gabe is just too stiff of a route runner to consistently get open in the offense buffalo currently is trying to run. I think he'd do well in something like Greg Roman's, or anything that is really play action oriented. He blocks well, likes to come back to the ball, and is a deep threat. -

A lot of their team is high priced free agents, you can pull that off when your QB and #1 WR are cheap. That's I believe what he is trying to say. -

And you're blaming Beane? -
We have seen KC at least once a year for a few years now - and i think that familiarity helps. The bengals are a tough matchup against us - they're big on the defensive line, and we pass a lot. Both just... terrible for a bad weather game. Our linemen are backpedaling and slipping, their offensive line is pushing our small defensive line back. It's a lesson that the coaches learned the hard way. You may be able to just execute your offense against anyone, but weather IS a factor late in the season - and you can't have a soft team come playoff time. Poyer, Lawson, Phillips, Edmunds (maybe?), Bease, Brown, Motor -> not all symptoms of the soft problem, but its the end of that era of the bills and the time to get a bit nastier. You don't need to win 15 and get a bye to win the super bowl, don't put that pressure and expectation on yourself. Get a ticket to the dance, and get ready to kick some ass.

Better team comp - early to mid 2000's Colts?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to bigfootindy's topic in The Stadium Wall
Big Ben won 2. The Steelers beat manning and brady a total of once in those 2 seasons. Brady knee year was one, and the other was Jake Plummer and the broncos in the AFC championship. The colts lost to the chargers in one of the other ones. There's Herbert, Lawrence, Lamar, Watson, Tua as well... this isn't going to be easy any year. I do think that instead of prioritizing 1st round byes, and home field advantage, we need to get our team focused and ready for playoffs. This season was an absolute grind, and it ended up taking its toll. Lots of stuff happened, major injuries, blizzards, game cancellations, and one of the wonkiest schedules I can remember. I think the major takeaway to me is being able to adjust who we are and what we do on both sides of the ball. This needs to evolve during the year, as well as week to week. They did this more effectively down the stretch last season and honestly it helped Allen reset and be more prepared for the playoffs. -
Yup. WR is going to be hard to get much out of without finding some trades like teams did last year. Brandin Cooks wouldn't cost much in trade compensation - but he does have an 18M salary for this year, and an additional year at 13M. Gone over 1000 6 times, and is fast and a good route runner who can move around the formation. He'll still be 29 going into next year Beckham has no trade compensation. But he doesn't want a short prove it deal, he wants to be paid so I'm not sure how wed make it work since other teams can and probably will overpay him. Hollywood Brown - Probably a bit rich trade wise- 5th year option, and would cost probably a 2nd round pick. Probably wants an extension and Buffalo probably can't afford him with Diggs deal on the books. DJ Moore - In Prime, will cost a fair amount trade wise. Annual cost is more than cooks, but younger. Basically it has to be someone who wants out, or someone who wants a payday.

I can't fire dorsey based off of one game. I hated the gameplan, and the team played terrible. But they played a tough schedule, won 13 games, and had a top level offense. I think we lacked some identity as the season wore on, and they need to be able to counter more effectively. I'd like to see them bring in an experienced coach to help as well, ideally someone maybe from outside the panthers tree. Pat Shurmur maybe. Need a different perspective, someone to help with run game coordination and just generally creating a bit more of a balance. Dorsey and Brady both seem to be a bit pass happy.

I think bringing in brown, bease, lawson, phillips... this was the year of getting the band back together. We flamed out in the playoffs. That era needs to end. Poyer likely walks. I would not be surprised if edmunds did as well simply because tagging him will kill any potential for the team to make moves in free agency.

Well 2 of those investments didn't even play. Another barely played with a bum shoulder and was outsnapped by Ankou. I'm not sure Settle is really an investment as thats sort of the going rate for a depth DT. Not to say that the guys that did play couldn't have done more. The only thing consistent about oliver is how he will get pushed around a few times a season. Epenesa plays slow. Basham plays small. Rousseau isn't a quick twitch player, so he needs more beef in the middle collapsing the pocket. They truly looked like a unit that just ran out of gas - even with a rotation.

Diggs vs. Josh: Sideline Disagreement?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Nextmanup's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wouldn't look into it too much. Much like how this board is devolved into everyone wanting to fire everyone, in the heat of the moment he was upset and angry. Allen was trying to ignore it to stay focused on what he can control. -

Hows he gonna yell at dorsey...? -

I think his issue is he sees chase/jefferson/kupp etc. get schemed open. -
Barkley Hunt Williams Jacobs Mostert Sanders Wilson Montgomery Harris Pollard Thats quite a few dudes. I don't know if he's back but i also don't know that we do much here and try and bring in a few UDFAs. Late in the first is a good spot to get a 5 year contract value. So look at a player who can make an impact (on field and financial) over that value. A tackle if the value is there would be my hope. Many have potential to kick inside early on, have plus athleticism, and can push spencer brown to play better.

So... isn't Cook a Kamara type?
-
CMC is a great player... And he might be - the 5th most important player in that offense? Maybe 6? Deebo - YAC machine that makes that offense go. Built like a running back, and impossible to tackle. Aiyuk - Good route runner - and also a good blocker. Trent Williams - Possibly the best LT in football Kittle - All pro tight end, fantastic blocker that helps the run game go Having said that - and on the topic specific to Buffalo. Since we'll be picking fairly late (my guess is somewhere around 31 since Miami lost their pick), i don't mind saying "this guy is head and shoulders so much higher than every other RB in this draft, and previous drafts; i'd be stupid NOT to pick him"

JoPo's message to Bills Mafia

I know an active 3T is super important to pass rushing in our defense, but the defense thrives with edmunds taking away space in the middle and he seems to just be coming into his own. Oliver extension makes sense to lower that cap hit. -
One of the worst offensive lines in the league. How do you call an offense that cannot run the ball at all? Makes it hard for 3rd downs, and hard in the red zone.

Can make some cap room but yea - oliver would have to be moved to keep both edmunds and poyer. I think the draft needs to be fairly offense heavy - WR somewhere in there, a C/G, a tackle, maybe a TE or RB (depends on hines - big pay for a small contribution). Whoever of - Poyer, Edmunds, Oliver that you plan to move on from needs to be replaced as well. You can dip your toes in FA, and people will play for less to come play here now, but they needs a good draft to infuse the offense with some young talent. -
Bengals' Board Monitoring TBD
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to thenorthremembers's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep - buffalo is not a bad place... in fact i bet its a lot like cincinnati. Sports wise we both have good football teams after... many years of not so good football teams. Their baseball team stinks. Our hockey team is turning it around a bit, but stilll... stinks. Not that big of cities. Rust belt. Honestly if they beat us i want them to win it. I hate KC. Everyone left in the NFC has won one or more already. -

He'll be 32 next year - which isn't a death sentence at the position. I'd personally rather keep him than oliver. -

How confident are you the Bills beat the Bengals?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like Buffalo to win 30something to 20something. Long 4th quarter TD drive puts this from a 1 score 2 score game. -
Gronk Almost Signed with Bills?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in The Stadium Wall
He already did appearances at a couple Wrestlemania's. He had to do a bump where he jumped off a balcony and he was afraid to do it, so 75 year old vince mcmahon did it first to show him that it was safe.
