  1. It's to me why spencer long getting cut was a no brainer. I think Murphy probably gets cut too unless he's willing to take a straight pay-cut to stay. Even if he'd be the 3rd man up, thats carryover that can be basically given directly to milano - who is a more important active piece on the defense. With epenesa here for sure - jefferson able to swing out to end in a pinch - and then johnson/love/cox... there's a fair amount of guys you can use to replace his production. Regarding King/Jackson/Lewis - I think if White opts out they'll be given every chance to take a spot as a depth CB. In McD's first year - it was White-E Gaines-L. Johnson. Gaines obviously didn't play 16 games, so shareece wright played a bit. A year later it was White-P Gaines-T. Johnson... Gaines stunk, Taron got hurt, so wallace and ryan lewis got a lot of snaps. That 2018 defense with... various random UDFA's- was #2 in total yards, and #2 in passing defense. Having said all that - i think they have some faith in these guys. I know losing white takes away basically the best player on the team, but in 2017-2018 he wasn't a top 5 corner, so the expectations for Norman don't need to be either.
  2. Lot of the raw athleticism. But he's not a great route runner... which means in an adam gase offense he's going to be running a lot of go routes. Metcalf was similarly slow out of breaks, but was also bigger and faster it seems. Russell wilson playing QB certainly helps there.
  3. Mims did project as a low floor-high ceiling guy...
  4. If White opts out they probably go with - norman, wallace, johnson with jackson, king behind them. Neal would function as the big nickel/depth NB. Ike Brown and cam lewis probably on the PS - you can put one on the 55 man roster if you feel like say norman or wallace has a lingering issue and you might need depth for a specific week. I feel like they signed king as insurance should white not play after gaines opted out, since I assume White's been in open communication with Beane. They may still sign someone else, but I think they'll see how some of this plays out.
  5. They're built on sound tackling and keeping everything in front. They do a good job disguising stuff since they all know their assignments - the longer in that style of defense the better you get at disguising blitzes and coverage. The more they trust one another. They believe they have the personnel to match up with anyone from baltimore to KC. Yeah, teams early on are going to see what cam's got left in his arm though. I expect teams to stack the box.
  6. He made about 15 million dollars in his career - less taxes and 401k. Probably gets free care for his injury for as long as he needs it. Played long enough to get a pension once he hits 55, and if he's smart he took advantage of the 401k match that they do. Without even getting into wealth management he should be set up to be OK.
  7. I mean.. is it not a rushing league though? Baltimore, Tennessee, San Francisco, Seattle, Minnesota, Houston, Dallas... Teams are definitely still running the ball.
  8. Probably both tbh. If they didn't like Long at center... he's deep on the depth chart at RG now. So if they signed boehm to be the backup center, and may already have considered moving bates to center full time. Who knows - but i don't think Long was part of the plan when feliciano was healthy, and i don't think hes part of the plan now that they signed winters.
  9. It is to save money. Long played 16% of snaps on O and 13% of snaps on special teams. He wasn't even the backup center, as they preferred feliciano kicking inside and playing him at RG. They since signed Williams and Winters - who i assume they like better at RG.
  10. Thats fair. Boehm i guess becomes primary depth at C. Williams at G. Nsekhe at T. Bates as #9 who is usually inactive on gameday. Feliciano comes back and either wins his job back, or moves Boehm off roster/bates (or whoever #9 is) to PS if they think they can hang onto him there?
  11. 80 man roster, and they brought in winters who has potential to be a starter.
  12. We lost a player who was a starter all 16 weeks a year ago. To just sit on your hands and assume that Daryl Williams, and evan boehm are good enough - its not the beane way. He brought those guys in for competition to feliciano. So naturally he brings in further competition to them.
  13. I went to do some research - and man they are bad at drafting WRs.
  14. I liked a lot of the rule changes though. Kickoffs became somewhat exciting again. Punts were just... different. 3 point conversions. Double forward pass (you didnt have to worry about being behind the QB and it being a fumble - you just needed to be behind LOS). OT was kinda neat - albeit gimmicky. I kinda prefer college OT as its a bit more... football.
  15. It was the last time i went to average joes for the draft night, and i remember driving there my wife asked who i wanted. And i remember saying... "i think i want josh allen" So needless to say i was probably the only happy guy at the bar that night ?
  16. He stunk last year i guess (or so i hear), but he was playing LG. I remember beane saying he likes him on the right side.
  17. Boehm and Bates both played center - Long has experience but he wasn't very good anywhere and the cap savings are pretty solid. Williams probably starts at RG.
  18. Yeah.. if he had like, a huge injury or something like jamaal charles i might be more inclined to think hes done. But he played alright last year, outside of a couple of bad fumbles. Last year they had barber as the 2nd back and ogunbahalwale (def added like 6 letters). Barber sucked, and is now gone. So right off the bat there's a role there. I also think he cuts into the other guys snaps on 3rd down. QB wants a guy he trusts in pass pro imo. Yeah... still wish we had him last year instead of gore. And if dollars and cents were the same, i think we probably would've kept him.
  19. Maybe? I dunno brady likes that safety valve back - and he can pass protect, run routes out of empty sets. I dunno - Jones isn't a bad running back but maybe they're looking to split carries. He signed with KC on 8/31 so it was always going to be an uphill battle there. No knowledge of playbook, offensive linemen, QB, anything.
  20. They should be... they kinda choked in the playoffs against Tenn. 3 turnovers and 0/4 on 4th downs. 4 TDs with drive starts at the Baltimore 35, Baltimore 45, Baltimore 20, and the Tenn 19. So 3 times Tenn started in baltimore territory, scored on all 3. The other time Henry broke off a big one. Even with Henry going for almost 200 yards, Baltimore still had greater TOP. Chiefs vs Ravens is an interesting matchup tho since stopping the ravens run game is so challenging. Buffalo did well with LJ last time, but the offense was pretty bad for the majority of the game. Tons of sacks, tons of incompletions, and a fumble that gave them a short field. Between the fumble, and the missed coverage on the long passing TD... that was pretty much the difference. Buffalo has a good pass defense, but if Mahomes can successfully buy time it would be a problem.
  21. Possibly? I dunno - Mahomes just got a brinks truck of money. I feel like top-end contributors are going to get paid regardless.
  22. The Steelers probably do have the best defense in the NFL. 2 really good pass rushers in watt and dupree. Unsung guys like tuitt and hayward. Haden, Fitzpatrick, edmunds. Devin bush inside. They are legit. They led the league in sacks and takeaways. They also went 8-8 with rudolph and hodges last year which is crazy. Even crazier that they didn't upgrade the backup QB spot with guys like dalton, and flacco sitting out there for pennies on the dollar. The ravens added queen, calais campbell, wolfe - and lost michael pierce. Humphrey, peters, thomas on the backend is pretty awesome too. Should be a really tough team.
  23. Burned through most of darnolds rookie contract though. They went from Anderson, Enunwa, Kearse - to Perriman, Crowder, Mims in 3 years. Is that even an improvement? They added Becton, but they imo overspent on fant, and mcgovern. Basically through 3 years - they draft their franchise QB (and paid a pretty penny to get him) - and have surrounded him with nothing. I guess Bell would be considered someone they brought in, but its a huge overspend when you don't have a good offensive line. So assuming they probably don't win this year. You're now on year 4 of Darnold with 2 firsts - with needs at WR, IOL, Pass rush, and in the secondary. To get year 4/5 contributors youre just going to have to move picks anyway. I just don't really know what the plan is.
  24. TJ watt is gonna get paid next year. I say next year because he'd be stupid to wait. Play out year 4 and negotiate, otherwise hold out year 5 and get your extension.
