  1. Right now there is nothing to discuss... Aside from TT keeping up with any medical appts/rehab on his recent surgery there isn't much else to do on either side... Also there are a significant number of QB's potentially changing teams (Romo, Kaepernick, Cutler, TT, Garoppolo, McCarron could all change teams before the NFL Draft) Tennessee has two #1 picks and might be receptive to a trade up by the Bills to #5 (The NFL Draft Trade Chart shows only a 400pt difference between #10 and #5) (1700-1300=400) Thats the equivalent of the Bills 2nd rd picks value... If the Bills like one of those 4 top QB's (Watson, Kizer, Trubisky, or Mahomes) only one should be off the board before they could make a deal with Tenn... Lots of possibilities here...
  2. If the Bills decide to move on from TT they will more than likely draft a QB high in this years draft... They may bring in a "caretaker" to provide veteran leadership skills and start most of the season while the new "kid" develops... This should have relatively little to any impact on Cardale Jones... Cardale may have a canon for an arm but there is a whole lot more to becoming a good NFL QB than just having a big arm... Can he learn to read defenses? Does he have good pocket presence" Can he develop "touch" on his passes? These are just a few of the many hurdles he will have to overcome if he is to develop into a good pro QB... Most "projects" of this type FAIL... A QB's ARM doesn't usually determine his level of success... It's whats in his HEAD that matters most...
  3. chicken wings...
  4. "He didn't know what to do with Spiller." - Apparently no one else does either... Last i read was that New Orleans cut him... He was just another one of Buddy Nix's horrible picks... (EJ being another...)
  5. WE (fans) do not have the necessary skills and knowledge to know a "Franchise QB" if he was staring us in the face... It's more than just stats... I'm not sure the Bills (or most other NFL FO) do either... But you have to at least TRY... If you want to take the defeatist point of view, then nothing is gonna matter until Brady retires anyway... We got nothing nothing out of our top two draft picks last season... Dak Prescott would have looked pretty good in the 2nd or even in the 3rd round (instead of A. Washington for example) The draft is a crap shoot anyway you look at it... QB is THE most important position on the team... But we should ignore it again - until NEXT year??? and then we can ignore it till the year after that because maybe there will be another bunch of supposedly better QB's??? Try living in the here and the now for a change...
  6. Renegotiation of TT's contract simply isn't gonna happen... If the Bills don't pick up the option TT knows someone else WILL... (Denver?) The most important thing for the Bills to do is INVEST that #10 pick in their QB of the future... There are at least 3-4 plausible QB choices to choose from (Trade up?)... Is AJ McCarron worth acquiring? Is Casey Keenum worth a look as a caretaker/bridge QB while the kid develops? CAN the Bills FO even identify a viable QB pick? I have my doubts... But if they don't try... But the money they might save by not picking up TT's option is simply too hard to ignore... Cardale Jones is a project not likely to pan out (most projects fail)... Until Brady retires they are not likely to win anything anyway so it is time to build for the future...
  7. When you have a guy like Tom Brady as your QB you may be have the greatest QB of all time playing for you... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/01/24/tom-brady-adding-to-a-long-list-of-super-bowl-records/ Moral of the story is: Brady (like him or not) is the best QB to ever play the game - bar none...
  8. First, as a taxpayer (like ALL of us) I automatically have a "stake" in this team... In previous years I attended 2X games per year... And I do have Bills "merchandise" bought in previous years... I attended games at the "Old Rockpile" - Did You? I'm not being judgmental here either... Promise...
  9. Would I like to have Romo for a couple of years as a bridge to someone they draft at #10 (or higher, if they deem it necessary to get the kid they may want) YES... depending on what it takes to get him... (2nd rd pick maybe?) Or maybe acquire AJ McCarron or another vet FA guy but the Bills need to draft a kid high if they hope to get a true franchise QB... I don't see what some people see in Cardale Jones... He is what used to be called a PROJECT... 4th rd Projects rarely pan out... Let's also not forget that in essence the defense will be bolstered by Ragland and Lawson this year assuming they have both recovered from their injuries...
  10. IF Mahomes is as good as you think (I honestly have no idea) then just draft him at #10 and don't screw around... The same applies to any of the QB names out there... Move up - if you really like a guy... Is AJ McCarron available and is he worth acquiring? If we let TT go and Denver signs him is Simean available cheap as a bridge QB? What's Washington gonna do with their QB position? TT is NOT the ONLY option...
  11. I also have to add that in 2014, Whaley engineered that wonderful trade for Sammy Watkins instead of staying put or even trading down to acquire another pick and selecting Derek Carr. So the Raiders got Khalil Mack AND Derek Carr from that draft while the Bills ended up with Watkins and gave up a second #1 for the privilege of doing so... Maybe that is why the Raiders made the playoffs this year and the Bills are home watching on TV... So Whaley should not be held responsible???
  12. Before you "DEVELOP" a rookie QB you need to "DRAFT" one or more ... and then it shouldn't take another 3-4 yrs to conclude the one you drafted sucks! It would help to have a GM and a scouting dept that can identify which prospects stand the best chance of success... There is no evidence to conclude that at present the Bills have either one of those things...
  13. I'm certainly not a fan of Brandon's but how exactly is he to blame for the futility we have experienced? Whaley drafts the players and Rex has alot of input as well, I'm sure. Brandon's role was predominantly in the business end of things (ticket sales, various promotions etc..) with the exception of Ralph's last couple of years when he and/or his family appointed Brandon as caretaker... That ended when the Pegula's took over the team... Before Whaley took over, Buddy Nix was running things on the football side... Buddy/Whaley drafted EJ for instance... Whaley traded up to get Watkins... If you want to assess blame start there... I'm all in favor of Pegula hiring a true football czar...
  14. The trouble is neither does Whaley! He could have drafted Prescott as late as the third round for example. You have to be able to recognize a good young QB when you see one. I am not going to list other QB's the Bills have passed on.
  15. Coughlin would be an upgrade if he wanted the job... But first Whaley's future here has to be decided... I am all for cleaning house... Then a real GM needs to be hired... New GM gets to pick his own guy for coach...
  16. I seem to recall a deep pass to Watkins along the sidelines that was woefully underthrown...
  17. I think the "real question" here is - Is the FO capable of selecting a QB when and if they see one? They passed on an opportunity to draft Paxton Lynch. Now I have no idea if he will pan out or not. I am in no way qualified to judge. But John Elway seems to think he has a future. He moved up to draft the kid. What did he see that Whaley and crew didn't? It isn't often that a kid like that falls to you and yet the Bills FO passed - to draft a DL with a bum shoulder who will miss at least half the season if not more... Did Whaley draft the guy that Rex wanted over what might have been better for the long term future of the team?
  18. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000661750/article/whaley-bills-will-have-at-least-three-rookie-starters
  19. Doing your "due diligence" about the availability of QB's tells you little to nothing about any particular QB... If Elway thought the Bills were interested in Lynch (as was reported that the Bills wined and dined Lynch) he would naturally have been interested in Tyrod's availability... And about finding out whatever he might about how deep our interest in Lynch was as well...
  20. And as you are most likely aware of, the majority of those 1st round flops were NOT QB's... Alot of 1st round picks bust... But nothing ventured - nothing gained... How many more years are we going to go missing the playoffs? Is a DE more important than a possible franchise QB?? Lawson could bust just as easily as Lynch...
  21. Here's the question... John Elway and his scouting dept felt good enough about Lynch to trade up for him... We could have drafted Lynch ourselves and still gotten Ragland and all the rest of our picks thereafter presumably... Are we gonna be watching this kid for the next 10yrs while we miss the playoffs again and again? Most franchise QB's are taken in the 1st round... Aside from Manuel when have the Bills ever TRIED drafting a QB early? I don't know if Tyrod is the answer or not... Time will tell....
  22. I am obviously no kind of QB talent evaluator but if the Bills really think he can be a true franchise guy and he falls to 19 why not draft him there? If they really like these defensive studs who are still on the board then could they not trade both this years #2 and next years #2 to move back into the 1st round - say around #26-27? This would seem to fit the NFL draft trade chart... That way Whaley still gets a top name defensive player to help immediately as well as QB insurance for the present and future too... Roman gets to tutor the rookie for a year...
  23. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/01/28/washington-g-m-admits-tagging-kirk-cousins-is-a-real-option/#comments Funny how this situation is mirroring the situation in Washington... Keeping in mind that the Bills can always tag TT next season if necessary...
