Excellent point -
Knowing what you know today about Kelly and Brady
White Linen replied to mead107's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with Alaska Darin above - that it's impossible to compare QB's across era's. With that said I would take Brady because we've seen what he's done in this era vs thinking Kelly could - which I do. The better question - which the point has been raised above: Would you take Brady or Kelly back then - the answer is exactly the reverse, except... I would take Kelly because I've seen him do it with the pounding allowed vs thinking Brady could still survive in that era - which I don't. -
The Pegulas flushed 35 million down the toilet

I get where you're coming from. I guess we just have to accept their explanation and roll on. He explained that he didn't get involved in the hire of Murray and regrets that - and Whaley was onboard when he bought the team. I think they initially wanted continuity and kept them in place with extensions to prove it (statement making). Now upon reflection they want to be the ones to decide on the GM's and Coaches. Of course we don't know if this will work but it's their plan. If it doesn't work then we absolutely know and they will too - that it was their decisions. They want a clean slate and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that this is truly the first fingerprints of total autonomy on the decisions. -
This is such garbage. How convenient to act like you have it figured out with the greatest QB of the era. They have gone through and have made a plethora of changes. They have two constants that are so good, the other changes are irrelevant. That's how good hoodie and Brady are. The content of what he's saying has some truth to it, but it's elementary not some enlightened thought. The better example of this, IMO, is the Bengals. They believe they have a good coach and they stay steadfast on that belief and make adjustments to their roster. They are also an example that if you don't have the best QB of the era, continuity doesn't always translate into winning. I would have much more respect for Kraft if he would just say he's been fortunate. Instead he bloviates about how he's figured out how to bring ego's together and all that other crap.

Whaley was a crafty GM that worked hard and smart at finding players. -

Chicago Bears GM....Fox informed 1 hr. B4 taking Trubisky.
White Linen replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, that's crazy. Why would you take it out on the kid? He didn't pick himself. At this point you should just want him to feel welcomed and hope he proves worthy of the trade. -

White Linen replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not all that crazy to me. Hey coach after a long and grueling process we've decided to draft Mitchell Trubisky. We have all the confidence in the world you and your staff will develop this young man into our future. -
GM Doug Whaley has been fired
White Linen replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly, that's why it's not good practice to dog your GM to your 43 year old first time head coach. McDermott should have been surprised by this move as much as anyone. This way the Pegulas give themselves more options in finding a GM. -

The thing I don't like about this is based on reports and how McDermott has seemingly taken control - Pegula must have been talking bad about Whaley to McDermott and others. I don't like that and shows a real amateur hour approach. I'd like to see these things come as a surprise - clearly showing you're being respectful and professional as an owner. Saying your organizations need structure, discipline and communication - then you tell everyone Whaley and McDermott get along great. Next thing we know McDermott is stepping all over Whaley's authority and job - gets fired - and "that's how you win". I liked Whaley and I liked Murray but I wasn't beyond the understanding they might need to go - however the way these situations were handled was pretty ridiculous (especially Whaley). I've been a big supporter of Terry and Kim and their right to run the clubs how they want to and I believe they should be involved as much as they want to. I'm seriously concerned though that they may be getting close to developing a reputation where legitimate FO talent may not want to work for them. -

Yeah you don't accept mediocrity yet they've duped you into spending your time on a Buffalo Bills site. How exactly do you prove you personally reject mediocrity? -

Get over yourself. I could understand if you said - hey he did a decent job but it just never came together to make the playoffs, so I'd like to see a fresh start with a new coaching staff. Instead you bloviate as if he was an overt failure. The fact is he did a lot of good things and had made some mistakes also - maybe most of all a seemingly propensity to not get along, if you believe the reports of there never being real harmony since his tenure began. -

RD 1, Pick 27: Tre'Davious White (CB) - LSU
White Linen replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't dislike White but I cannot understand passing on Foster. LB a huge hole on this team and one of the hardest positions to fill in FA. It could have been one amazing night lucking into Foster. Instead we got a pick at 27 that should be around 27 - so I guess that 3rd round pick better be real good. We're going to watch Foster for a very long time with nothing but regret. I now feel like McDermott is in over his head a little bit on the personnel side. He's a good coach and I'm happy to have him but he needs to learn to be a head coach first - instead of taking on everything. He'll learn a valuable lesson tonight when he sees he got in his own way. -

If Polian says the Bears should take Howard 3rd overall - I'm listening. I think he's still got an eye for evaluating talent. He also loves Corey Davis. -
Thank you for making it easier to prove my point by saying "1 out of a million make it".
