I think real Bills fans do not care who wins QB battle
White Linen replied to KingRex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's actually not the only measuring stick we have, it's just the next one in the progression of things. The Bills coaches and FO have all the measuring sticks and that's why we need to have some faith in their ability to get it right. My main point is this is not a team with 3 QB's battling it out. Unless you resign yourself to just caring about the immediate. This is about one QB, Allen. If it's best for Allen for one of the other two QB's to start then that's what will happen. It's not because they're better. and won the job. -

This is not a QB battle. Allen can out play Peterman and/or McCarron right now. That may not be best for him, because there's a lot of learning - so this is all about what's best for Allen. Peterman and/or McCarron will help us do what's best for Allen and then their starting dreams will swiftly be taken away. -
We Learn A Lot About Allen When He Plays the Browns
White Linen replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have the other two QB's referenced being the starter? Nope. Why? It's because our head coach teaches not to say much to the media. He preaches, I'll communicate to you openly and you can back to me. No need to put things outside the team. They trust him and none of them are making claims. I find it impossible to believe Allen doesn't want to and doesn't care if he's the starter, as you state as fact. -

Running backwards? He was under immediate attack and got away. He slipped when he spun away and then re-gained his footing in which time he should have thrown it away. It was his only bad decision. He may not be ready but it's not for those two weak things you mention. Don't bore me with this is about winning week one as if Peterman and McCarron are inherently more ready to win. -

Allen looked so incredibly calm in his first game in the NFL. To me, that was the most impressive thing I saw. No happy feet and it just seemed he was in control of the moment. I watched every pass he threw 4 times and it was amazing how he calmly steps up in the pocket (4 times) and how he knows when to run (4 times, 2 would be sacks). I tallied 13 good passes with 2 drops out of 19 attempts. 3 first down throws and 2 first down runs. -

Josh Allens Throwing Angle
White Linen replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like your post Shaw. I'd add that there isn't a "norm" throwing motion. Each of the excellent QB's playing now and that have played in the past throw differently. IMO, it's actually what makes them all unique. Further it's why breaking down throwing mechanics is largely an exercise in futility. I say largely because I know it does have some merit and if you breakdown Allen's mechanics - he's as close to computer generated perfect as I'd be comfortable with him being. In other words, I like you, am not worried one bit about his motion. -

That's my point, it's not even slightly side arm. I know you're referring to the Panthers game but her's a good break down of Allens throwing motion. From the 4:19 minute mark to 5:00 there's is absolutely nothing about that deep thrown that is 3/4. -

I don't know where you're getting this from but he does not have a 3/4 flare when he goes deep. It in almost no way resembles Rivers. -

Folks this is not a flaw and There's plenty of information out there where circling right below the breast plate is perfectly acceptable and coached. Allen has a very similar motion to Wentz although I'd say a slightly smaller circle - where for example Brees has a much larger circle. It's about efficiency in the release time and Allen certainly doesn't suffer from that. If a coach tried to change this about him - I would fire him immediately. -
Josh Allens Throwing Angle

He does not dip the ball low. In the picture shown it looks like his back shoulder is lower than the front shoulder - indicating a higher ball flight throw (dropping in a pass). In that case the dip of the ball is relative to the angle of the shoulders. Royale - he in no way resembles Leftwichs' motion. He may have some footwork issues but his upper body mechanics are nearly perfect. -
What are your "Gotchas" for the 2018 Bills
White Linen replied to freddyjj's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
These are not gotchas. -
I think we'll have a tough defense to play against but will struggle against Rodgers. To me, a defense needs to be ultra mature and have had their main players together for 2-3 years to adequately deal with him. That's obviously not us. I think we'll surprise some people on offense and we'll hang in there for a while but I believe the Packers pull away. I can see a 30-24 type of game.

The defense will miss Preston Brown this season

See what a franchise QB like Tyrod gets you? -
I get where you're coming from. My take was they probably want their starting QB to be decided on between the game Friday and the 3rd pre-season game. Hence the week one starter - starts the 3rd pre-season game. I'd have a hard time thinking that could be Allen if he hasn't played with the 1's in a game. Not saying I'm right, just wanted to clarify why I thought if Allen doesn't start Friday - it may help us understand their plan to start the season.
-
If Allen doesn't start Friday, then I don't think he starts the season. If AJ starts Friday, I think it's between him and Peterman. If Peterman starts Friday, it's his job to lose. I personally think AJ starts Friday and wins the job and starts the 3rd pre-season game in preparation for the season. If AJ starts the 3rd pre-season game and Allen continues to show progress, I think they try to deal Peterman and make Allen the back up. I think it's critical Allen gets 2nd team reps throughout the season in practice.

I tried to play the Daboll interview twice today and it stops and starts to the point I can't watch it. It's happened to me on almost every occasion this year.
