No no no, never exaggerated. I stated he likely wasn't worth the money - go back and look.
I just merely responded to the suggestion that Clay was totally inept, completely unreliable and . That's 100% untrue.
His performance as it relates to the percentage of our total offensive production are facts.
You're saying my whole point. "Clay was a mediocre TE" - while on a team among the leagues worst passing offenses. That's without adding his contributions to a couple of years of a really nice running team. I agree that being mediocre isn't worth the money he received. I believe it was the right move to cut him.
We'll see what? You said it's nonsense that anyone would trade to the #9 for a QB - then stated you think 3 are getting drafted before 9.
That's like calling heads and tails on a coin flip.
Totally disagree. We need WR's that understand what the defense is in and where to go to get open. A WR that knows this is simultaneously helping a young QB understand. Then that teaching gets extended into the classroom.
This game is so much harder than just hey I'm fast, I'll get open, or I'll just ran past everyone.
I agree. He's not a star but a piece and you need pieces. I'm sick of hoping guys develop into pieces.
He won't break the bank. His last contract was 3 years/21 mil and he got released after one (8 mil guaranteed). I'ts reasonable to believe he'll make less on his next deal. I'd go to two years and maybe as high as 13 mil, f that gets it done.
I would definitely sign him to a 1 year deal at 5.5 with some incentives. I am not a believer in Zay Jones and I don't want him given a spot. If he outperforms someone like Crabtree fine - then he's earned the spot. I'm willing to move on from Zay in a minute to get some pro's in here.
Crabtree is nothing special but he can play. I don't want to fart around with hoping, it's time to build Allen a viable WR group.
I was also comparing style of play and Elway was just a tick behind Young as a runner. I think when you add in the fact Allen can turn that head around and sling it - for that reason he reminds me more of an Elway type of QB. Young was a more touch and accuracy passer that made him effect. Elway seemed to throw everything hard and the receivers had to get used to that.
I see it as a need but not one I think they address with the 9th pick. I think helping Allen is the most critical thing we do and if I do anything outside of that - it's DE. That's just my opinion. I don't hate the idea of a DT and it would have to be one that gets sacks/pressure in the pass game.
That's kind of my joke around here. Oh rich people whenever they say Huntersville, Lake Norman, Cornelius, Davidson, etc.
Retired Pastor - that's awesome.
I'll be taking my boys to that.
Anyone outside of Charlotte that would like to come can stay with Boyst at no charge. I'm sure he won't mind me offering that.
