Pass on Metcalf and give me this WR!
White Linen replied to cttnweary's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He lost his footing because of how awkward he looked. He better improve it because right now he has a slower shuttle time than Tom Brady did. -

He may be talented enough in other areas (and he is) to be a good WR but being in the bottom 2-3 percentile in the cone drill and shuttle is at minimum something to be concerned with. -

Bills re-sign Jordan Phillips
White Linen replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's take it a step further. This is where I disagree with Yolo above. I want to go after one of the FA pass rushers (i.e. Houston). I'm satisfied with Hughes and think he puts enough pressure on the QB despite not having the sack totals. I would not pick up the 5th year option on Shaq and I'd justify that 2020 money with my new 2019 defensive end signing. -

I'm not trying to argue with you - I just think we're far from set on defense and that it's stout. I do agree that the offense didn't help consistently and an offense scoring, moving the ball and winning the possession time is important. I also know that teams didn't have to throw to win several games. Hey we're all Bills fans and want the team to win. I want most of the draft and FA to help the offense and I believe we'll address a few of those defensive holes also. -

So a team that doesn't play the run well and doesn't sack the QB is stout? -

We're not a stout defense. We're a team that lead the league against in passing yards and 7th in int's and fumbles recovered. We're middle of the pack in rushing yards allowed and points, and near the bottom in sacks. I just think we have a good amount of work to do from a personnel standpoint on defense to get stout. -

Don't make a need. Free agency continues after the draft. -

That's the answer I thought he'd give. Drafting a center early is something I'm not interested in. -

Yes please. Exactly the type of receiver I want (by this description). N'keal Harry, Arizona State (Junior) 6'2" | 228 | 4.53 The Good: Highly competitive and productive, plays fearless with an alpha-dog swagger, uses hands well to beat press coverage, strong hands with excellent ball skills, solid body control, times his jumps well to win jump balls, scrappy runner after the catch, not afraid to get his hands dirty when blocking. -

We can't draft every need. When do you want to draft a center? -
Article for those obsessing about Metcalf
White Linen replied to TigerJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's the metric for sure. It's maybe the strangest thing I've ever seen. I just don't think we can make that gamble at 9 either and I think we all know he's not slipping to the 2nd round. I think N'Keal Harry is the real deal. -

I don't think it's only the 3 cone where offensive lineman were beating him. It's also the shuttle where 12 of the 13 QB's that participated were faster. He was a total freak show in the 40, bench press, vertical and broad jump but he was equally bad in the agility testing. He was in the 2-3% on both ends of the spectrum. So it's not like he was just average, so when you take into account the physical attributes you know you have something special. He was awful in that testing. This is just so weird it has to be a concern. He slipped in the cone drill but that looked more like a slip because he's stiff - than a dang, dude was going so fast his foot slipped out from him and screwed up his time. I'm not an expert but from what I read, the agility tests show change of direction ability. Maybe what he's exceptional at is good enough to become a star WR. I just think this raises some serious questions. -

"Buffalo is home". So we've all been around long enough to know we do a great job as a fanbase of making players feel good. I know we like to pump our chest about and we often forget this is what players often say when they sign, etc. I do find this particular player saying this as something different. Yes, Buffalo is in fact a great place to play but a player signing a 1 year deal calling it home. I think players are onboard with what the Owners, FO and coaches are doing. I think we're as healthy now as we've been since the super bowl teams began breaking up. -

Browns exploring trade offers for Duke Johnson

Absolutely agree. I want weapons and he is a really good one. If you want to do multiple things on offense you need players like Duke. I'd trade a 4th in a minute for him. -

I thought he used Isiah McKenzie nicely in weeks 13,14 and 15. I know Duke is a RB and Isiah is a WR but in the passing game Duke lines up in the slot a lot. His routes are very similar to how we used Isiah. -

I agree that he likely has some legit reasons for being upset. He is however making it worse and not helping himself. I left the company I previously worked for 12 years ago for a lot of the same reasons. It angered me but it would have hurt me in the industry I'm in if I made all of my frustrations known. I am aware that players are under contract and can't just leave - so it's not a parallel in many of our lives. However, at this point, he'd be better serving himself by letting his agent handle the trade and him giving generic answers. Something like: "It became a situation that I no longer wanted to accept. At this point, I don't need to defend my decision. I will discuss it with the team I'm traded to or if the Steelers give my agent permission, I will discuss with a team interested in me. I met with the Steelers and it was made clear, evidenced by the GM, that my issues will not be addressed. I no longer want to play for the Steelers and I'm looking forward to proving to my new team that I'm a person to rely on. I've worked too hard to let the Steelers organization control the narrative on who and what I am." -

It wouldn't shock me if football may have had it's effect on Brown - I know we say that a lot, so may be we're just making excuses. This interview sounded like a troubled guy. I know he's always had a flamboyant personality (IMO, made him likeable), but now he's destructive.
