Bills are playing a little "Rope A Dope" with the AFC
ganesh replied to realtruelove's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And don't forget the playoffs game against the Jaguars...We were a play or two away from winning that game. As Cliche goes....the game is a matter of inches... -
It's the Pre-Season for them too!

Ravens 1st round pick TE Hayden Hurst out for Bills game

That's what happens when you party too much in college ? -
OK...Jets can take EJ Manuel of the hands of Raiders...It is an addition by subtraction. And that is what I don't really get....It is insane..He is an All-Pro player and deserves to be paid a top-3 defensive player contract. The Raiders have to keep their cornerstone on defense if they wan't to go deep in the playoffs...Teams without a pass rush cannot do much in the playoffs.. For a decade plus, we paid Bruce Smith what he wanted because he showed up on *EVERY* Sunday

Is number 59 on the chiefs Ragland?
ganesh replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But Patrick looked good and poised. He is definitely in for a big year, especially if the chiefs have to come from behind with their bad defense. They have some fantastic talent on the offense that includes Hill and Kelce and not to forget Sammy! Hey...nothing is more exciting than asking others to do your homework!!!!! Ask NJSue! -
Or on the flip side, him being the most mobile of the 3 QBs, may give us the best shot with this (possibly) crappy OL. Additionally, the fact that he can keep defense honest by throwing deep may give enough breathing room for Shady. When Manuel was the starting QB, the DB's dared him to throw by crowding the LoS and stopping the run. Manuel failed. Will Allen deliver on that promise. While our philosophy (overall) may be the run setting up the pass (and protecting the confidence of the rookie), Allen would have to threaten with the deep pass so as to allow the run game to flourish.

And we will get through the 5-game road trip in the first half of the season before inserting the rookie on the field.

The problem is that analytics is a great tool for lazy writers. Across the country, when people are writing or representing different Sports publications, they are all not traveling to Wyoming and watch Josh Allen day in-day out to write reviews about him. IN today's Internet-driven world, the data is available and it is up to people to interpret it (as someone else wrote earlier). Lazy writers pick what statistics they want to write stories that sell on Internet!

I think Troy Aikman and Peyton Manning won 3 games in their rookie seasons....Both those teams kept them under Center in spite of the losses.
-
As QB of the team, he did win 9 games for us! Last time I checked NFL has W-L records for QBs.
-
I didn't say that...but he did make plays to win some of those games...the biggest thing from him we will miss is the lack of turnovers...That team from last year would have struggled to overcome turnovers (as evidenced by the Chargers game). Every rookie QB is going to do that...it is part of the learning process.

But Tyrod also wons us 9 games...the Brows won 0..

Peter King / PFF on "ball placement" (Josh Allen related)
ganesh replied to Buffalo86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
this! I would be curious to know how TT graded on this....He was heavily criticized during his tenure here for not being able to lead the receiver. -
+1

Really ? They have only 2 QBs to evaluate and Nate already got his start in Week1....So it would have only been fair to evaluate Josh against the 1st if he is truly competing for the starting position. I don't think any of them play week4.
-
The other is the schedule...They have a brutal first half with 5 of the first 7 on the road....and against really good teams. Does Allen learn from this schedule and adjust for the 2nd half (Is he ready mentally to handle defeats on the road at the beginning of his career ?). If I were McD, I would go with putting the kid on the field.

But Brady has the numbers to back him too. He won 4 super bowls, took his team to 7 of them and has dominated the NFL for 20 years. Kelly was a gunslinger with a great RB to take pressure of him. Brady on the other hand is the master of the quick pass (deadly accuracy) with great anticipation. He is a master at practicing his skills to perfection like an assassin. Two different types of QBs and you can't really compare them.

I have to agree here. It is not that we have a Veteran QB competing with Allen. Peterman was a rookie last year. If the talent level is way greater than Allen has to start. One thing we were wondering prior to the pre-season games was the progress of Allen. Can he read NFL defense, is he able to adjust live and improvise, does he know to take what the defense may be giving etc...The Preseason games have shown that he has grown in those phases. He does not appear to be rattled by the defense even after taking the couple of sacks. He has delivered in the pocket in spite of taking hits. He has taken his opportunities and run away with it. I honestly think at this time Allen may be more ready than even Darnold.

He needs to work on those quick-out...It got him in trouble against the Chargers last year and he showed the same issues in Pre-season too

If I Could Ask McDermott One Question
ganesh replied to The_Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
May be he made a mistake in his first draft. Remember they could have had not only Mahomes, but Watson too...
