NFL Exec Admits Link Between CTE and Brain Trauma
Jauronimo replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good luck convincing any of the dunces here that there is testing for CTEs. I've been down that road. -
If Woods is going to be our #2 WR, then who is going to block for him? He can't block for himself.
-
If you skipped right to the bottom of this thread as I just did, well, you can imagine my concern.

For those of you who have been too busy Tweetering to ever pick up a science book, CTE stands for Cephually Transmitted Encephelopathies which covers a host communicable disorders. Due to the lifestyle that comes with the profession, financial analysts, like football players, are at higher risk for CTEs and should get tested regularly. You probably don't have much to worry about with CTEs seeing as Philadehlia has you clearly in the friendzone. #NiceGuysFinishInTheirHand I guess you geniuses should tell recently diagnosed DeAndre Levy that there are no current tests for CTE lol! http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/03/30/deandre-levy-i-may-already-have-cte-but-i-still-love-football/

There are so many do it yourself, homeophobic remedies for the common flu: Sneak up behind the sick person and scare them. Gargle orange juice and other beverages high in vitamin C. Take a bath in tomato juice Drink a lot of cranberry juice Calamine lotion helps a lot When my little brother was sick with the flu we used to wait until he was asleep and then dip his testicles in a bowl of warm water. You might want to put the rubber sheets on the bed for that home remedy LOL!

I'm not going to dignify your bafunery with a response. Yes, I've been tested for CTEs. I'm pretty shocked that most of you apparently have not. Its responsible to get yourself tested before accepting a new partner. Why shouldn't it be the same for football players and new teams? I have yet to hear one valid reason why testing for CTEs shouldn't be standard procedure in the NFL.
-
I get that you guys are hung up on the fact that CTE testing has been almost exclusive performed on the deceased, but that doesn't mean that it isn't possible to test the living. 100% of rabies tests are conducted AFTER an animal goes nuts and needs to be put down, but that also doesn't mean you cannot test before. 100% of autopsies are performed on the deceased, but that still doesn't mean they cannot be performed on live patients. It only means that accepted thinking has been not to perform CTE tests UNTIL something goes wrong. Of course they tested Junior Seau after he went nuts. Correlation is not causality. This reactionary thinking is why CTE has become the epidemic that it currently is.
-
CTE is the greatest threat to the future of the game. I think incentives and hazard clauses for contracts are another tool in the battle to eradicate CTE.
-
That is exactly the reactionary approach that has led the league to be embroidered in scandal. I propose active testing rather than treatment once players have already contracted CTE.
-
What the hell are you talking about? Its kinda uncomfortable and stings for a day or two but they can do the test with a qtip now. You get the results in two weeks. Just because you only hear about the dead guys they test doesn't mean you have to be dead to be tested. Medicine is constantly coming up with less invasive procedures. Does anyone want to address the actual content of my post are you going to focus on font and how tests have been administered to dead people?
-
Yes. I've been tested several times. What is your point?

With the NFL now admitting the link between football and CTE it is time for the Buffalo Bills to take a pro-active approach to head injuries. It borders on total negligence that free agents are given monster deals and our own players handed huge extensions WITHOUT scanning for CTE. When you’re making multi-million dollar investments, the due diligence process is critical. You don’t buy a house without examining the attic for bats and leaks. Why make major financial commitments to players before testing for the presence of CTE? CTE is a degenerative condition which not only effects players current performance, but also exposes the team to future liability. I’m sure Littman and Overdorf, as responsible fidouchearies, have established loss reserves to account for future CTE lawsuits but avoiding the players with CTE would be far more responsible. Its too late for Glenn, but Whaley should have Taylor and Gilmore assessed for CTE as soon as possible. I think Buffalo has an opportunity to get ahead of the game by testing all draft prospects for CTE. I’m sure CTE tests will be incorporated into the Combine soon (why not? They measure everything else.), but Buffalo has the inside track if they act now. We don’t agree on much, but I think EVERYONE can agree on this!

I've been keeping an eye on Hogan throughout his collegiate career and I truly believe he projects to be successful at the next level. I think he has the skill set, the desire, and the attitude necessary to make it. I am concerned that he has played in the spread, but I think he projects to sell more Kias than anyone in the 2016 draft.
-
Why? In 2014 we were 26th in 3 and outs on a percentage basis and 1 worse on an aggregate basis relative to 2015, yet our defense was among the top units in the league. Perhaps if our defense got the ball back more often our offense might find rhythm and have even less 3 and outs? Its a two way street. Be careful where you assign causality.

I hope hes asking Perrantes if he wents to smell the fingers of a guy headed to the final four.

Horoscopes? Does anyone try them?

Typical Vagattarius mentality. Always the skeptic. There's disagreement in your future with an opportunity for success as the earth waxes and Venus enters moon phase with Uranus. -
The only context that I'm aware of with finger sniffing is when a man might see if his hand still smells like the girl that he, to use the scientific term, finger blasted, earlier in the day.
-
Definitely. I'd even carry her luggage for her.

NFL Execs say Bills should get moving on new stadium
Jauronimo replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The chart is accurate, BUT if Buffalo continues to grow at current levels and Jacksonville's economy remains flat, we are projected to overtake them by 2053. Jacksonville is going down!!! -
Yes, they are exceptions. Once a decade exceptions. If Taylor fails to improve and we play behind a top 2 defense, maybe our ceiling is conference championship. Maybe we squeak into the super bowl and get blown out. Maybe its just a wild card game. Teams that qualify for post season play have a funny habit of making runs. The Giants limped into the playoffs twice and won super bowls. The Ravens were dead in the water and got hot at the right time. The Jets limped in with Sanchize and were a few plays away from a super bowl bid. I'm of the opinion that perennial playoff team is different than middling 8-8 team and another season of anybody's guess as to record and outcome. There's a material difference between being a top unit in any phase of the game and just average. Arguing otherwise based on whether our QB play is sufficient to be super bowl favorites or just playoff likely is silly.
-
I addressed what you said and then you claimed not to have said it. I had to go further up thread to find your garbage about definitions of success which was particularly weak since the Denver Broncos just won a super bowl with the worst starting QB play in the NFL. I think Super Bowl champs may meet most definitions of success. You're better than this, or at least you used to be. I can assure you its effortless.
-
Its almost as if there are multiple phases to the game and QB play, albeit the most important, is just an aspect of the game. What was actually said was flippant and utterly incorrect. Your pathetic attempts to wiggle out from underneath the weight of your own arrogant brand of aggressive ignorance are equally misguided.
-
Then by all means, clarify your argument.
