In weeks 5-6 our defense was looking like a top unit. Then something happened. Pass rushers struggle when your defense allows 250 yards rushing a game. My take away is that if Hughes is your only threat in pressuring the QB, then you're gonna have a bad time.

There is no doubt that Mario opened a lot of opportunities for Hughes coming off the opposite side. But lets not forget about Marcel and Kyle in their prime too. When you have dominant DE in Mario, an effective speed rusher, and two DTs who can penetrate and bring pressure up the middle it makes everybody look that much better. Last year all we had was one of those 4 things and occasional glimpses of what a younger Kyle used to be.

I think no matter who goes #1 you should leave.

Mario was the man for his first 4 years in Buffalo. The point about the Mario signing that is often over looked is the statement that move made. Buffalo was known as a franchise that wouldn't pay for talent and wasn't committed to winning. Wade Philips had sue to Ralph to get what was contractually owed to him after being fired. The Bills had a terrible reputation around the league. Signing Mario put Buffalo on map up there with North Haverbrook, Ogdenville and Brockway. The message was received around the league and we've had much better success in free agency since. God bless all them deers in Jim's backyard.

Matthews is a solid player but this team needs a true number 1 opposite of Benjamin. A player that can stretch the field and and play wideout. Zay is our slot guy.
