Offensive Line - Any Chance it Holds Up?
AmishRifle replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you’ll see some 1st and 2nd Rd picks invested in our O-line next year. McD and Beane both preach strong line play. They just couldn’t fill all the holes this year. -
I think we improved on the defensive side of the ball while we regressed on offense. Add together the changes at QB and scheme and I don’t see us winning early in the season. The losses of C, G, and T are really going to hurt us, especially in the depth department when the eventual injuries come. I have high hopes but the realist in me just doesn’t see a marked improvement in wins/losses.

Awesome SI article about Beane - Allen.
AmishRifle replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought it was very interesting that they called the players leadership council in on the vetting process to assess their opinions of the tweets and the potential impact to the locker room. Not aware of many organizations that do this. A good sign in my book for the organization. -

Bills GM: Not certain we move up to take QB
AmishRifle replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After listening to the presser I think Beane and staff will set the values for the draft and stay within their board. I really do believe that he’s ready to roll with McCarron as a very feasible contingency if trading up just doesn’t meet the value of their board for the player, assumed to be QB, that they are targeting. I like the approach. -
Beane Presser Takeaways (please feel free to add more as I know I missed some) --Wished Tyrod well and said he'll be rooting for him except when he's playing Buffalo --Thanked all of his Scouts and Staff for their preparation on Free Agency --Admitted that the salary cap will not support any further large Free Agent signings, you may see small depth signings. "Nothing to make the ticker" --Believes in building strong, attacking Defensive Line and protecting Offensive Line (Explaining the DT and DE signings). Aligns with McDermott on this. --Eric Wood remains in same status. Has become a back burner issue with Free Agency and Draft prep. --Emphatically stated that he hasn't completed his prep of potential draftees. His sole focus now is draft preparation. --Skirted the trade up questions with the statement above on not being able to reach a decision yet as the draft preparation is not complete. --Alluded to the notion that they could in fact stay at 12 and get a very good player. --Talked openly of his philosophy of not chasing players, about setting value as in floor and ceiling, and not going outside of that value. --Sees McCarron as having an opportunity to compete for starting position. Called several coaches, including Marvin Lewis, before making his decision. --Stated that they are using a very methodical approach to decision making. --Stated that he's never comfortable with a roster (Answer to "are you comfortable with your wide receivers" question) --Happy to get Richie Incognito restructured. Coming off Pro Bowl year. Important to do. Not much detail on the restructure. Again, feel free to add for those that couldn't listen.

I hope not but, I see your point. I still believe in the guy. Hope the offseason helps him get stronger and improve!

Peterman isn’t going anywhere. We’ll carry 3 QBs to the final roster.
-
Cool. Thanks for elaborating! Appreciate it Billspro.

How would you rate Peterman based on your criteria? I think he stacks up well against the current draft class. I have a suspicion that our staff still believes in him and that we may stay put to see what comes to us in the draft rather than aggressively moving up.

Do you think trading away Landry for draft picks has anything to do with moving up from their current position for a QB that they like? I think it’s very possible. Trading with Cleveland specifically also opens up the communication channels for potential draft moves. I believe the Dolphin’s are ready to move away from Tannehill. Just my gut feeling.

Would you take Jordan Metthews back
AmishRifle replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a Vandy alum I can tell you that this guy can play! I’d definitely take him back on a one year prove it deal. He has the talent, just needs to get over the injuries. If you like what you see coming out of Penn State right now for the draft than you should love this guy. Same coaching staff at Vandy before they jumped to Penn State. -
What was Ralph Wilson’s “Cash To The Cap” about?
AmishRifle replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As we are discussing money I think it’s important to point out that Ralph kept the AFL afloat with a loan to the Raiders. I find it hard to criticize the guy overall considering what he did to save the AFL and consequently form the basis of the NFL as we know it. In hindsight, they should’ve adjusted their business model as times changed but I believe the history of the league and his own actions skewed his perspective in the later years. -
Going to the Philadelphia parade
AmishRifle replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear Bud Light is making good on their promise by providing free BudLight in every tavern along the parade route. Philly Philly! -
Heard the same topic on a nighttime CBS Sports Radio show and they detailed how Philly uses it and how the booth to field communication works in critical gametime decisions. I will caution though that the decision to assume risk needs to be supported by a good playcall and great execution! The missed extra point and subsequent misses on two point conversions, chasing the missed extra point, set up the situation of a potential game tying touchdown and 2 point conversion for the Pats at the end. Could’ve been a completely different conversation if the Pats came back.

I absolutely agree with you. I really think Peterman will be the guy. Build the lines through this draft.

Kiper Mock Draft: Josh Allen #1
AmishRifle replied to Jamie Muellers Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really don’t think we’ll move up either. I think there’s a whole lot more faith in Peterman than people think. -
Down to Four - Which Team Are You Rooting For and Why?
AmishRifle replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m rooting for Jax and Vikes but think it will be Eagles and Pats. Would be nice if Jax could take care of business next week. NFC has such great stories for both franchises—either can win and I’d be happy for them!
