Rd. 5 Pick 163 Matt Milano LB Boston College
Dragonborn10 replied to Steve Billieve's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too small to play LB in the NFL. Why not just draft a real safety? -
Perhaps Roman misread TT abilities. With Lynn the throws you say TT can't make he made. The offense was much more dynamic as the season went on. WR injuries limited the offense. Im not saying Roman is bad. But perhaps he did not recognize everything TT could do.

Polian - McD, "he's Marv-like".
Dragonborn10 replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does he mean the Marv that let Kelly keep throwing the ball when Thurman could have had the greatest SuperBowl a RB has ever had? Marv was outcoached in every SuperBOwl. Let's hope McD is a better coach,. And now we have to hope he is a much much better GM as it appears he has all the power... -
Pegula is the problem here. He falls in love with Rex and now as someone else stated he has fallen in love with the Anti-Rex. There is no other organization that turns over this much power to a first time HC. What was the point in keeping Whaley this long? Now the HC gets to sign off on the GM? Pegula may be rich but he sounds stupid when he talks. I'm grateful he has kept the team in Buffalo but the guy is just making one poor decision after another. He needs to turn the whole thing over to someone that knows football. Maybe they should have given the whole operation to Coughlin. I'm on record that Rex destroyed this team and that any other DC gets us 10 or 11 wins last year. If TT and the offense puts up top 10 in points again, then McDermott had better win no less than 10 games.

Bills Decline 5th Year Option on Sammy Watkins
Dragonborn10 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tough call. I get it. They have options to tag him without having to worry about the need to use it on a QB or other great player. It is probably the smart move. And if he looks healthy and playing well, they can sign him to a long term deal before the season or during it. I don't believe there is anything that prevents them from signing a long term deal now. Watkins has only one real option for 2017. Play well and stay healthy. As for 2018 he has options. If they tag him he can sit for ten games and show up for the final 6 and still get an accrued season. He is really young. He can afford to not get paid for ten games. If he is healthy, he will be a top 3 paid WR when he hits the market. If I'm the Bills I see how he looks in training camp. If fully healed, I try to sign him to a 5 year deal then. If I'm Sammy I say no thank you McDermott, I'm getting paid elsewhere. He is so young and when he makes multiple ProBowls he can look back at Buffalo as the lost years of EJ, Marrone, and the clown brothers. -
Peterman will be the starter.
Dragonborn10 replied to r henderson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does Peterman move to safety or OLB to start? Fairly certain it was Rex's defense that **** the bed last year and cost him his job and the team's chance at making the playoffs. Did TT give up 200 yards rushing twice? How many tackles did TT miss against Miami and Pittsburgh? I don't recall TT being on the field when Seattle put up 28 in the first half on the defense. How many yards TT give up to Fitz and Brady? TT played lights out the first half of the Oakland game and then disappeared. I will give you that. Looked like crap against Baltimore too. Other than that it was the defense. They got rid of Rex and kept the #10 scoring offense in the league in tact. Sammy will be healthy. They upgraded #2 and #3 WR. Oh yeah, and they just fired the GM that didn't want TT and kept the HC that wanted him. So yeah, Peterman starts - if he is the holder for PAT and FG's. -
Peterman will be the starter.

Remind me again the order of favorite players in Buffalo... 1. Back-up QB 2. Punter 3. #3 WR -
Most people believe an owner should turn over the team to people who know football. Now on two occasions Pegula was directly involved in hiring the coach. The first by all reports was suggested and pushed by Brandon and not the choice of the GM. Rex destroyed the team. Then the new GM "heads" the search for his second coach and again it is Pegula that makes the decision. First he fell for the rah rah Rex and now he is falling for the discipline and character guy. Then he fires the GM after most on here seemed to approve of the hire. Whaley is nothing special so I really don't care he is gone. But now twice Pegula seems to be giving significant power to the HC. How many times has this really worked? Certainly there is nothing to warrant giving that degree of control to McDermott. So no, I don't like the direction. I want a traditional owner GM/HC relationship and structure.

We should trade Sammy
Dragonborn10 replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills board - 2017 - Trade him he is injury prone. Bills Board - 2018 - Not a true Bill. Why doesn't he want to stay? I never liked his attitude. I only want players that want to be here. Watkins is by far the best player on the roster. He is young and will be dominant for years. Shady has maybe two years, KW is game to game at this point. You can argue it is not smart tying up huge dollars at WR if they still have not figured out QB. But having Watkins will make signing a FA QB (Garopalo/Cousins) in 2018 easier or will make life easier for the rookie first rounder. -
GM Doug Whaley has been fired
Dragonborn10 replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We will likely never know all the details. But I don't understand how you fire a guy when Russ picked Marrone and Pegs picked Rex. You can blame Whaley for EJ and for the Watkins trade but the two people/decisions who most set the franchise back 5 year were not his doing. The roster is better. Even an average defense makes the playoffs last year. I'm fine with the move but from the outside it makes the ownership look dysfunctional. I do not believe a first time HC should have all the say in personnel. Philadelphia just tried that and it was a disaster. Reid has been good but never great at roster development and of course Bellichick has Brady to bail him out of all decisions. -
5 QBs, only 3 will be retained.
Dragonborn10 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yates was the insurance policy if they did not draft another QB. They will choose the experience of Yates versus the potential of Jokes over the next several weeks. Yates is so bad that Jones has a chance to beat him out even though Jones is terrible too. It doesn't matter because Mr. Peterman will be #2 by the time training camp opens. -
Grade the 2017 Buffalo Bills draft
Dragonborn10 replied to Real McClappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They likely found three starters in a single draft, a project QB that we keep asking them to take, and some small bodies to play some weird hybrid LB/SS. I think they probably could have found a WR and a RT without trading up again especially if this draft was as deep as everyone says. I would give B or B-. They got the first round pick I projected. However after Howard kept falling the better move was to go up and get him. They could have gotten a decent DB later. Howard has the chance to be All-Pro. Jones is a nice piece. He only matter is Watkins is healthy and signed long term. I still don't see a second starting safety on this team. I also don't see any depth at safety. They need to make a few more moves to even be competitive in the defensive backfield. If Darby regresses further and/or Hyde does not work out we may have a bottom 5 defensive backfield. Lastly, did they miss on Foster? If he is a star, he could have been the best LB since Spikes or Biscuit. -
What's with the baby sized LB's
Dragonborn10 replied to 1st Ammendment NoMas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They are definitely small. But I don't think either is fast enough to transition to hybrid S. Hopefully they hit on one to be a good ST guy and possibly compete for WOLB. -
RD6: PICK 195, TANNER VALLEJO (OLB), Boise State
Dragonborn10 replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No but they should at least look they belong on a NFL field. He barely pencils out to a STs guy. They have more needs at S and TE. -

Dragonborn10 replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Always one obvious dud in every draft class. This guy is barely UDFA material. They should have added a safety in this round. -
Maj - Brown would be a nice addition. Probably a PS guy for a year. Sign the best punter
-
I still do not see a starting SS or second safety on the roster. Do they bring back Aaron Williams? Is there a FA still on the market? I would sign best rookie FA punter. Add a few more rangy linebackers And sign one more DT.

I guess that makes me happy. I've always put Mayock just a notch above McShay which is just a notch below my cat -

Who is going to play WLB for this defense?
Dragonborn10 replied to Brianmoorman4jesus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That only works if you have a QB that sucks or one on a rookie deal. It is impossible to have a great veteran QB and keep all your guys. New Orleans can not, New England can not, the Colts couldn't, and neither can Seattle. Every year New England gets rid of guys that are due to get paid. The Seahawks signed their core when Wilson was on a third round pick salary. New Orleans has been gutted because of Brees' contract. -
Bills Trade Up with the Rams to Get #37
Dragonborn10 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Player is fine. Hate the move Whaley can not help himself from giving away picks. In his defense there was a solid run on the guys that seemed on the top of most best available. Sitting and waiting requires a few surprise picks ahead of you and patience. Oh well. Two positions addressed. Now draft defense the rest of the way. Possibly a RT at some point -
CALL NASA - intelligent life has landed in Buffalo

Both picks will be in the high 20's next year unless the Chiefs implode. Next year they draft OL/DL in the first round and begin the refresh of the lines. -
