  1. If the Pats trade a great player for a draft pick it is a good move - Seymour If the Pats trade a pick for a great player it is a good move - Cooks Shut the F up until Brady is gone. They lucked into the greatest football player of all time. They don't draft well. They should have lost to Seahawks and Falcons.
  2. My hope is that they tried to sign him to an extension and he said no or put out a number that was ridiculous. After that they made the right move. Sammy was a top four player on this roster but it was unlikely he would have been here after this year. In the end he will get paid, most of the posters on this board will have little jobs, and if Beane trades away those picks to move up in the draft the board will scream even louder - me the loudest!
  3. I like the moves. Darby was terrible last year. Watkins was a camp hold-out nightmare waiting to happen. My only pause is how these picks will be used. They should draft at least five players, and maybe shop one of those picks for a 2019 pick come draft time. If they use them to move up and come away with only 3 or 4 players I will be pissed.
  4. He's a second round pick second year player on the third team defense. What other story is worth writing about this week? It obviously got our attention. Do you think the battle between Ducasse and Mudge would have generated as much interest? And I do want him to succeed. I looked at Ragland and Lawson as extra draft picks this year. And I don't think much of Preston Brown - thought here I am reserving judgement until I see him back in a 4-3 on game day.
  5. Thanx for the reminder. I guess my bias is showing as I don't see him making it as a RB and that his best shot in the NFL will be at slot WR. Good choice. You are spot on. He probably gets by on athleticism alone for year one and two.
  6. Yes I think you are correct and I should have worded that differently. I think they just overshot the mark and they need to readjust the competitive balance. What do you think was being said in the late 90's when Kelly, Marino, and Elway were retiring?
  7. My choice is Christian McCaffrey. He could be a larger tackle breaking and even more versatile version of Wes Welker. Or he could be a worse version of Josh Reed - another RB convert to WR who was overrated, never broke a single tackle, and dropped more important passes than he caught.
  8. What was he supposed to write? The seocnd round pick for a defense he doesn't fit just got dmeoted to third string? How many third string LB's do you think they will keep? Especailly one that hasn't taken a single snap at any spot other than MLB. I hope they can at least get a conditional draft pick for him, but it is more likely he is cut. If he looks bad tomorrow he will probably not make it to game 2. However as many have pointed out, maybe the kid just needs to get out there and play. Maybe going full speed in a game situation will allow him to show some natural run stuffing abilities. The LB unit along with RT will be the most watched positions Thursday.
  9. Which golden age? The winged-T? Option? Steel Curtain? Run and Shoot? Tampa 2? Spread? The game evolves. They have made rule changes to make the game safer but the unintended consequence is an imbalance favoring the offense. The next shift that needs to happen is to change PI to a 15 yard penalty and not a spot foul, as well as an emphasis on offensive PI. This will help level the playing field.
  10. I still hate our LB situation. Question marks everywhere. Hope they can upgrade via the waiver wire or a trade. Best hope is P. Brown goes back to 2014 form. Lorax is more sub-package pass rushing DE than a true OLB. The rest are barely special teams quality.
  11. They still have to be out for a certain number of games though I thought. Did that change?
  12. Ragland now losing second unit MLB reps to Hodges. His playing time Thursday will be interesting to see. I wonder if they try to put him on short term IR to give the knee more time.
  13. My take is there are only four newcomers that are absolute locks. Hyde, Poyer, Tolbert, and White. In White's case he is the unquestioned starter even as a rookie. It appears to me in almost every other case, McDermott has deferred to the veteran. I like this approach a lot. Especially when it comes to the first pre-season game. Give the vets first team snaps and a series or two in the first game. Then let all the new faces compete and show their skills on the field against equivalent level of competition. If a few guys shine in that role, then they earn some first team reps in practice the following week. If Ragland shows some nice instinctive angles and maybe gets over the fear of his knee, then given the kid a few reps at first team MLB next week. Same goes for Dawkins, Ducasse, and Jones. If they play well against Minnesota look for their first team snaps to increase. If the other back-up linebackers show a little something, let Lorax sit for the second playoff game and give a kid a shot with the 1's and see what happens. Interested to hear what others think.
  14. How do you know? You don't know more than anyone else. Greg Williams was highly respected and turned out to be crazy. I spent a day watching a SuperBowl with Drew Dledsoe and he told me Williams would just scream obscenities at the team during half-time. McDermott seems more calm and calculated. But it is OTA's and TC. Let's see what happens when there is real game pressure. Then we will see what type of HC he is.
  15. Aikman bugs me too. Tony Gonzalez pisses me off too after he vetoed a trade to Buffalo Can't stand Bill Cowher - he is on my list of most hated and most overrated Ray Lewis
  16. Matt Birk - Minnesota - 6th round, 6 pro-bowls I had no idea Deacon Jones was a 14th round pick...incredible
  17. Good discussion especially regarding Namath. I would say he is HOF worthy based on impact to the game's history. Also agree Levy and Reed are better suited for Hall of Very Good than HOF. My animosity towards Marv is well documented on this board. Still he was very very good. My argument for Reed is they let Monk and Irvin in. Reed was more consistent and prolific than Irvin and more explosive than Monk. If you want to keep all three of them that would be a reasonable argument. Agree on Aikman and especially Bettis. As for Kennedy, Randle, and Sapp, these guys were as dominant as any DT in history. Harry Carson is an East coast bias joke selection. Barely in the Hall of Good. Also, I don't feel John Lynch is HOF worthy. I know he has a lot of ProBowls but so do a lot of other players like Reuben Brown. I just don't think Lynch was ever that great and certainly not in the category of Lott, Palamolu, Reed, or Woodson.
  18. Ok last thread start for the day. With the new HOF member induction this week, I thought I would start a thread on those players I think were overrated and dis not deserve enshrinement Lynn Swan - he simply does not have the numbers. He has the highlight reel catches but not the career numbers to justify HOF status. As for this year, I don't think Kurt Warner nor Terrell Davis should have been voted in. Certainly not before TO.
  19. I will go out on a limb and say Brady is the most hated Patriot by Bills fans. What other player/coach is your most hated yet perhaps respected ( not a requirement) for each team? Miami Shula Jets Klecko/Gastineau
  20. Thought we could have some fun. Who is comparable to Brady in terms of incredible production and talent but came from no where for each team? Here are a few that came to mind quickly Chargers Antonio Gates Cowboys Romo? Bills Jason Peters Broncos Rod Smith
  21. I would not be surprised if McDermott is just giving Mills time with the starters as the veteran incumbent starter. Then he can see if Dawkins can earn the job in camp instead of being handed it to him Not the same story for White as he is simply the most talented DB on the roster
  22. No hate but he was really not good last year. Rex and declining skills really exposed him.
  23. Win more games. The media might have a few agendas but they back the winners more than anything else. If the Bills start 5-0 post Rex, Shady and the entire team will be a top 3 story in the NFL.
  24. I said back then it was a dumb idea to get rid of CK. I still maintain CK at LT and Glenn at RT would have put our best five on the field. Let's hope it is just precautionary. Does anyone know if Henderson appealed his suspension?
