I don't think it needs to be, or should be, an either or. Our offense stinks. It's not because of the uptempo. At least I think it's not. But if given the option between the no-huddle conservative unimaginative crap we currently have displayed and a smart, exciting offense with huddling, I obviously choose the latter. I would love to see some of Gailey's plays/schemes considered along with the uptempo. Diversity is what I'm looking for. What he did within Fitz' 15 yard vertical window by exploiting mismatches, maximizing horizontal space, causing confusion, and quick throws was outstanding. That, along with some read option, or whatever is the best scheme for the opponent at the time, would be what this fan would want to see -- not 100 percent this or 100 percent that. That being said, I think there are times we run a fast paced the entire game, as long as we can execute, because it does wear teams down and improve the chances for defensive miscues.

Lets turn our attention to Baltimore

The offensive playcalling must get smarter, and more imaginative, if we we are to beat any top 10 defense. Couple our woefully inadequate offensive scheme without Gilmore, Byrd (sore footsie) and potentially McK, and this is going to be a slaughter I fear. -
RE watched/studied bills/jets- EJ n CJ not so bad

I think many of our concerns are coming to fruition: Hacket does appear over his head. I hope the plays are simple so the rookie QB can make fewer mistakes, and not due to inexperience at OC. Either way, that game, especially our offensive playcalling and inability to hit the fly route, was unwatchable. -
Pats, unfortunately, win big. So do Dolphins. Bills win a slog fest, 17-13. Alonso & McK with a pick. Gino becomes the second Jets QB with a butt fumble. Dareus picks it up and rumbles and stumbles it back 40 yards for six. Geno cries during his press conference. Bank on it.

Ralph IS cheap! Won't even hire college graduates.

ESPN: Bills have NFL's Quickest Offense
Just in Atlanta replied to quinnearlysghost88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was wondering about this. Right now, the Bills are going 3 and out too much. When we develop rhythm, which has been sorely lacking, and the Eagles have, we'll get our props. -

There's not much to adapt to. When you can't throw more than 15 yards, the only solution is a new QB. The fact we won six games with that nonsense, and the worst DC in the history of DCs, is a testament to Gailey. Not that I'm not happy he's gone. But he'll make a good OC somewhere. -

I guess what I should have said is that he appears to be injury prone due to his size and running style, and not an every down back. That is no knock on him. He will get 1,000 yards even with 50 percent carries. He's that good. -

We were competitive on offense, and drove the ball, and confused defenses. CJ had damn good stats the past two years. I wouldn't call him a decoy in any way shape or form. Underused, yes. Our offensive stats, after Ds realized we had a noodle armed QB, and a horizontal offensive scheme, were still good. -

It's fandom nature to say the other guy stunk. We said the same thing about Gailey when he replaced the other guy. (Well, Skeletor DID stink). Gailey was actually a masterful game planner on offense. What he did with minimal talent was nothing short of outstanding. Under him, our offense had rhythm and drove the ball despite having a bottom tiered QB who couldn't throw deep and a bevy of practice squad caliber receivers playing No. 2, 3 and 4 positions. This board said that over and over and over -- and over -- his first two years here (3rd not so much). I'm expecting many here to forget that. Where Gailey failed, consistently, was his inability to adapt during games (hence why NE beat us three times in the second half after we were up) and his wretched pick of Wannstache, and his inattentiveness to the D. He also, as many here have noted, underused Spiller, but I am guessing not by too much given his size and penchant for injuries. And while he generally was able to crush bad teams, he was not able to beat top caliber teams. There is a reason why he was fired from Ga Tech--getting shut out by Georgia every single year. Marrone, so far, hasn't showed enough to differentiate himself. He has like a .500 record at his previous gig, and so far is .500 here. I'm reserving judgment on Marrone, but am thrilled with Pettine. The transformation on D has been magic. I am, however, worried about Hackett's inexperience. So far our offense, despite having an exciting franchise player at QB, has completely lacked rhythm and an ability to drive consistently. Where we seem so far to excel at is the clutch drives, which were nonexistent under Gailey. All in all, it appears our coaching at HC is better and there is no doubt whatsoever that our new DC is miles ahead of the other guy. But to imply that Gailey wasn't strategic or a good game planner is off base IMO. -
How do we stack up against the Jets?
Just in Atlanta replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All I can say is I dropped the Pittsburgh D for Buffalo's in my fantasy league! Never have had a Buffalo D other than for a bye week. Nice to have a respectable D for a change. I predict Geno will have a rough day. Our win will depend on how well Manuel plays against Rex' trickery and whether our O line can make holes. Could be a slog-fest. -

Some of these are quite good. The Dolphins logo is quite better than the hotel thing they currently have. Browns logo, great. The Bengals look like a larvae though. -

Thanks. One poster said Charlotte is Buffalo's "doppelganger." So true. Charlotte looked like Buffalo out there. You lost because of conservative offensive play-calling. Your OC/HC needs to let Cam do what he does. But hey, this D looks legit. What a difference b/t this scheme and last year's. -

Bills to wear throwbacks this week

Throwup unis. Worst unis in the NFL. Utterly awful. The colors even clashed, and the stripes were completely different ... wtf?!. Dark times, times that should never be revisited. When I think of those, I think Dick Juaron, Trent Edwards, JP Losman, Kelly Holcomb, and utter hopelessness. -
