Allen's Last Pass (12/2): Bad Pass or Drop?
Livinginthepast replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The All 22 captures the moment quite well. Clay clearly gives up on the play and assumes that Allen is going to be sacked. I'm not sure if he waves his arms at all to get Allen's attention or Allen just sees him wide open. He looks really slow as he moves back to the ball almost like he didn't see it coming until it was in the air. But he has a ton of time to get back to the pass precisely because the pass is a wobbler. Clay is also not pressured by anyone so he is not distracted. He then stumbles and dives but still the pass hits him in the arms and he just completely botches it. Totally catchable ball that was dropped and it snuffs out whatever slim chances we had. -
Green Bay Packers: HC Mike McCarthy fired
Livinginthepast replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In some ways I feel bad for him. He has had a lot of bad luck and some incredibly bogus calls go against him. In the end though he made a number of blunders that killed them in crucial games. McCarthy's job was to make sure that he elevated all the talent that the team and put them in a position to win. Instead he had them second guessing themselves and losing to lesser teams. -
Allen's Last Pass (12/2): Bad Pass or Drop?

Like the old football saying goes "if you can touch it, you can catch it". TBH it doesn't even look that hard to do. Clay just trips on his way back to the ball and half dives at it. He should have caught it right it in the breadbasket. It wasn't a great throw but there was nobody around Clay to distract him. He just dropped it. -
I seriously think there are many players out there who think Allen is a racist (based on his teenage tweets) and take every opportunity to hit him late, hit him in the head, go after his legs or hit him out of bounds. I have seen this behaviour from opposing defensive players starting with that dbag in Baltimore who clotheslined him the sideline. These players know the refs are almost blind and wont see it or call it. The refs seem to be totally oblivious to these cheap shots and today was no different. Allen was hit late on at least 4 occasions but was not flagged. He was hit out of bounds once, hit low after he threw, and slapped in the head and head tackled at least 3 times.

Charles Clay- the most useless player ever
Livinginthepast replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are all kinds of time when I think I could catch an NFL pass thrown ferociously by some cannon arm QB, even at the age I am now, 50! I'm probably about 90% delusional about that. But I have no doubt in my mind that I would caught that floaty duck that Allen threw if I was as wide open as Clay. The whole play was like some sort of tribute to backyard football, Allen scrambling around, buying time. Picks up a huge block and heaves it down the field and by the time it hits Clay its sooo slow and he drops it. Whatever thread the season was hanging by snaps right there because a guy cannot do what he is paid to do and practices all week long. Charles Clay and Kelvin Benjamin, the anti clutch, anti money dynamic duo. -
